Yeah, in general, they don't need any more excercise than your average dog however they'll always be willing to run. They are natural athletes. But still, as Chasity said, they're happy to lounge around on the couch all day too. :D

ok, I like this topic. Greyhound racing is wrong (well...sorta) What you put, tibbs, is Greyhound racing at it's worst. Unfortunatly, many Greyhound race tracks are like that  However, I think that Greyhound racing IS a great, healthy sport of Greyhounds and their loving owners. It give a chance for people to show off their dog's speed and the dogs have fun.

But, you're right. Greyhounds are close to my favorite kind of dog and I HATE to hear them be treated like that! All dogs deserve a fun, loving home and family who will love them no mater what place they come in in a race. Greyhound racing is, yet another, crime by humans for the sake of money. It's extreamly shameful, if you ask me.

(and to think! Greyhounds are so sweet and a great dog! It's horrible to hear about them being treated like this)

It's not quite as bad as cropping a dog's ears and tail, but it's still a little cruel.

What's wrong with cropping a dogs years? They only cut off the skin that's not needed, plus, both ear cropping and tail docking are done mostly to hunting/fighting dogs so they don't get hurt as bad..

Yes it is, how would you feel if somebody took you to the vet and cut part of your ears off? I don't want to start a war or anything, I'm just saying...

BUT, how would you like it if your ears got ripped off by another animal in a fight? Which would hurt more?

This is greyhound racing, not dogfighting.

I'm talking about cropping a dogs ears. And I said YES, it's HARSH IF you crop your dogs ears for the hell of it. But IF you are doing it so the dog wont get it's ears chopped off in a fight, then I have nothing against it. Understand?

That's not all true. When used for pure sport the dogs are treated in a very humane way but when money get's involved it just depends on the person.

Most states have rules and regulations that you have to abide by . In addition to state regulation, most tracks adopt their own rules, policies and procedures to ensure greyhound welfare. In exchange for the right to race their greyhounds at the track, kennel owners must sign contracts in which they agree to abide by all track rules, including those pertaining to animal welfare. If kennel owners violate these contract clauses, they stand to lose their track privileges and even their racing licenses.

I didn't read it because its probably about how they use them for testing and other subjects and I am against that also against how they use horses for testing and dog food
