It's about to get better! Here's part of Chapter 2:


Chapter 2


Katie sighed, in the confounds of her dressing room , hearing Daniel yell at her, she yelled back as she stood, just screaming. Daniel pushed her back into the seat "Katie!" he shouted, by now is white face was red form anger "you could lose this job if you lsip up again!" Katie growled at him standing face to face "I'm the only responsible one in this God f****** ***** family Danny! You don't know the whole story! The ******* was saying tihngs about our Father for Christs' sake!!!! What would you have done huh?!" she breathed deeply, trembling in anger. He looked down at her with icy green eyes, glaring as she sat back down "Just, take a moment or two to geto ver it. Shankoon's waiting for you." he smirked and left the room. Daniel left Katie on her chair, turned to the mirror. She couldn't beliweve that she'd said that to her brother, I should save that hostility for Shankoon, she giggled, head sdown on the vanity as she felt her eyes closing.

Kodi on the other hand was standing by the door to her room, looking at her name on the door, Katie...Katie...Katie, he thought over and over. He oculdn't get her beautiful smile, her body, out of his mind and it drove him nuts. He couldn't take it any longer and knocked on the door. Katie sat up, givign a soft growl as she tok a rifle form the corner "Who is it?" she asked as Kodiak answered "I'm no one you know, just pleae, MIss, let me in. I want to make sure you're alright. I saw the guy leave here all red-faced, did he hit you?"

Katie shook her head and let ihm in, putting the rifle down "No...Daniel just yelled at me."

Kodi nodded "Ah," he said coming in "Is he your boyfriend, fiancee, husband?" he asked. Katie shook her head "We're brother and sister." she giggled, givign off a smile. Kodi couldn't hlep but be intranced by it, she was so beautiful and her laughing was like a chorus of angels to his ears. Katie tilted her head, silvery-black hair cascading down her shoulder "You okay?" she asked as he blushed, covering his face with his shirt collar and hat "Yeah, I'm f-fine." he stuttered looking away.

Katie giggled, taking his hand and a quill form her vanity, dipping it in ink she wrote down the directions ot her ohme and the shop, Kodi somewhat bewildered "Well, gee, thanks fo-" he was cut off by a large wolf walking thorugh the door, dark eyes shining towards Katie as she backed away to the wall, groaning in despair "Not him..." she muttered, as he made his way to her, on hand leaning itself on the wall near her head.

"Katie dearest, your brother said something about you gettin mad? He hit you?" The owlf asked, sounding sweet and caring for her.

"No, Shankoon, Danny ever hits me he'll be buried six feet deep." Katie sighed, roling her eyes as she motioned Kodi to wait outside, which he did. Shankoon looked at his tail as Kodi left the room, turning back to Katie "Kate, wha was that?" she rolled her eyes 'someone who actually cares." she said matter-of-factly, he grinned "What? We've been going out for months and you still don't tihnk I care? My dear, sweet, naive Katie, I care aobut you more than anything. You just met uh-"

"Kodi" Katie said annoyedly, her hand was twitching. Shankoon nodded "Ah, yes, thanks. But still you just met him. And you give him directions ot your home and everything? Come on sweetie I knwo you did..I see the quill in your hand.." he drifted off, taking her petite hand in his own two, tkaing osmething out of his pocket he slipped it on her ifnger.

Katie gasped, looking at hte large diamond "Shankoon..." seh said lowly, red-faced in embarassment. He nodded "Yes...I want you to be mine, forever, I want you tied to me for my whole life. Marry me." She lbinked, looking up and pushing him out of her way "Shankoon...I-I, I don't know what to say."

"Say yes, Katie. Say you'll be my wife." He grinned, waiting to hear her answer.

Moments passed and Katie looked odwn to the ring before sighing "shankoon, no...No." she siad softly, taking the ring off of her hand, giving it back "We don't even date...you just ocme here every day and set me on your lap. Though today was different but still....I can't." Shankoon frowned as Katie walked quickly away, grabibng her wrists hard "now hey hey honey....No one ever says 'no' to me." She jerked her hand, triyng to get away "I believe I did just now." she said harshly.


Shankoon growled in his throat, still grabbing Katie by the wrist, he grabbed her aorund the hips, slinging her over his sohulder. The tall amn wakled out the bakc with her screaming out and growling, thrashing her legs harshly. She screamed ''Shankoon! Lemme go! NOW!!!!!'' she pounded at his back with her fists, trying to kick him in the chest with her feet she growled, trying to get away.

Kodi gasped as he saw Shankoon with Katie slung over his shoulder. He growled and ran after him, by that point, his hat flew off, revealing his red hair and white and red fur, he didn't care. Kodi ran ahead, stopping at the door to the back, pointing a revolver at the wolf "Put her down!" he yelled. Shankoon grinned, putting her down he took out his own pistol, grabbing Katie he pressed it into her head, the tip of the gun was hidden by her black hair. Katie gasped, looking wide-eyed towards the gun, she winced. She looked as if she was ready ot have her head blown off.

Shankoon grinned "What's a mangy mutt like you gonna od if I don't hm? Take opne more step buddy and I blow her head off." he said calmly, as if not caring at all. Of course, it was a lbuff but the gun was fully loaded. Kodi growled, realizing his hat was gone "I don't tihnk you should talk to a son of a hero like that."

"H-hero???" Katie maganed to say, she gasped "If you're part owlf then...Balto." she whispered beofre cringing as Shakoon pressed the rifle harder to her head.

Chapter two is also very well written.

Its very good, but...I'm confused. Are they dogs or human? You keep mentioning their fur, and that Shankoon is a wolf...then you talk about them writing...and dancing...and wearing suspicious hats...and pointing guns at each other...? DID I MISS SOMETHING?!

If you read the aithor note, it siad it was an anthro story...their furres. Animals with human triats.

Ah, ok.

Chapter 3



Kodi walked her to her house, trying to calm her down, ignoring the racist words form wolves passing by about his heritage.

"Come on, we're here." he saidi n a soothing voice, Katie leaning against ihm he set her down on a chair, taking the shawl off her head, putting it around her shoulders. She was still crying but found the courage to take her hands away form her face, holding one of his she leaned against him for support, shaking.

Kodi went red, holding her gently, she must be scared, he knew. Being threatend so would traumatize him if he was in her position. He thought it best though for her Father to come "Is anyone here?" he called out n the house.

"What? No...My Father-" she said before Bashkei came out, looking at the two he gave a glare, Katie goign out of the semi=-embrace to her Father "What were you doing with my daughter?" Kodi blinked "Nothing, just some guy had threatend to kill her, so I thoguth I'd help her out by gettign her home, and it seems I have, goodbye!" with that he left, rather quickly.

"Papa," Katie said, before Bashkei pulled her on her feet, and...Held her close, a hand on the back of her head, hidden partially by her raven hair "Are you alright?" he asked. She nodded, holding her Father "I'm okay, Papa...I'm just..." Katie stopped, her Father shushing her, he nodded.

"I want you to take a small vacation, Kate...You're going to stay here and in the store. Take a bit of the profits every end of the week..." Bashkei was intent on getting his daughter not to go back to the saloon. And of course she eventually nodded, hugging her Father tight, terrified of going back "Thank you Papa..." she whispered as he stroked her head, thorugh her hair gently, to comfort her.

Things would be different...



Chapter 4:


"Thank you," Katie said, as a tall red wolf walked fomr the store. She sighed, it had been a month since she last stepped into that saloon. She was intent on keeping it that way. Taking stock she heard the familiar Ping! of the entrance. And Katie sighed, not really wodnering who it was until she saw a black hat placed on the counter. She turned rapidly, to find Kodi standing right there.

The silvered wolf gave a smile to him, and the red hybrid did the samei n return, both standing their awkwardly. Until Kodi coughed and motioned to his hat.

The black hat had stains and so many holes it looked like an odd piece of swiss cheese. Before there were a few tears and the like. But now, it was a mess! Katie giggled inwardly, steadying herself before speaking "New hat I presume?" Kodi nodded "Need it..."

She nodded "Well, I could make you one, sicne I supposed you wouldn't want any bonnets!" both laughed, and the man before her gave a nod "No, not for me...but," he dove into his trouser pocket pulling out a large sack of gold coins "Take whatever price the hat's for...And uh," he spoke in a low whisper "Keep the rest for yourself."

"I could never,"

"It's fine, I'm an honest working guy...I can get more."

"Alright, if oyu insist..."

"I do."

Kodi smiled as Katie took out what the hat would be. Only 7 coins? No, it had to be more and Kodi made sure he expressed what he felt "Shouldn't a homemade hat be more??"

Katie winked "Exactly, I woulda put it on the house but.." she giggled in her own feminine way, making the man turn his head down. That was when someone unexpected came through the door...

Shankoon. both of the two still standing face to face glared at him. And Katie, walked away to the back, with the mentioned black hat. Shankoon watched her tail flick irritatedly as she walked off, grinning. Kodi was about to lose it.


"Why are you so out of your league?" the black wolf smirked "She obviously isn't for you, little dog." Kodi's heart started ripping in two "Huh?" was the only thing he replied. And Shankoon grabbed him by the collar of his gray shirt "I mean, stay away from her...She's really not interested in you, is she? Is that what you thought...Ha, pathetic little twit," he dropped the red and white furred canid on the hardwood floor. The wolf laid him down again with a huge foot, since he had no need for shoes for some odd reason "If you don't stay away form her, well, huh..." Shankoon pulled out his pitol, and turned the barrel, poitning it right between Kodi's eyes "I'll kill you. Got it, city boy?"

Shankoon's pistol fell from his gloved hand, an a shotgun's fiering was ringing in the air of the little shop still.

"Get the f*ck out of my store you cheap b*stard." Katie's voice was harsh and she clicked the huge rifle. both men were stand still shocked until Shankoon's left foot, still on the floor was shot at "NOW!" and Katie chased the poor ma out of vthe shop "And stay the Hell out if you know what's good for ya!!" she turned to the still shocked Kodi and held out a feminine hand "You okay, Kodi?" he was still staring at her now kind, beautiful face, and he forgot all about Shankoon's threat, holding her hand as they both pulled him upward "I'm fine, say though..."

Katie was all ears. And Kodi's heart was beating faster than ever, his head was banging relentlessly, and his hands were clammy. And creamy looking face was a pasty white. The wolf looked up at him "you sick?" she asked, worried. The husky shook his head "No no...just uh, say, is it hot in here or is it just me???" Kodi quickly went out the front door onto the porch.

"Kodi, what is it? It's fine in the store, blazing out here though." at that point Kodi's bakc was facign her and he was breathing hard. Looking up at this Katie backed up "Oh gosh...You gotta be sick! Comeo n," she took him by the hands and led him into the back of the store. It sorta looked like a livign room and was as cool as can be.


"Now just rest yourself right here..." the smaller canid eased her ocmpanion onto the sofa, a look of fear in her eyes that reminded Kodi of his Mother. Katie stood "Now stay here and I'll be back with osmething for you." with that she left, green dress billowing after her into the small kitchen, starting to prepare something for the man in the other room. Her thoguhts ran rampant and she almost burned herself touchign the side of a searing pot, making Katie yelp and step back.

"What? What am I doing? Oh, this'll never work!" she looked odnw at the pot, all the ocntents were blakc. She cried out and stepped bakc into a cabinet. Hearing Kodi's voice the young woman stood straight, watchign as he came in, coughing and spluttering "Good God!" he screeched. Katie nodded, eyes closed as he opened a window, the semi clear smoke rising out of the small kitchen...

Kodi looked ot the wolf coughing on the floor, covered in black splotches. he too was covered in black but not as much as Katie.
As soon as both looked at one another, they laughed, falling and laying down on the cold stone floor, holding their bellies. When the laughing was done they were smiling and staring into each other's eyes...

Things Were Going Only Too Well...
