"Oh, it's nothing," Fern said quickly. "Just my mind playing tricks on me, I guess." She shrugged. "So what were you and Cody talking about?" she asked, no matter how much she tried not to.

"Nothing much," Kate said teasingly. "It was just small talk."

"It's never just small talk with him," Fern muttered, annoyed that Kate was playing this like a game.

Cody chuckled softly and lowly to himself but resumed listening afterword.

"Okay, okay, call down," Kate said. "If you really want to know, we were mostly talking about you."

"Me?" Fern asked, not that surprised, but still horrified by the idea. "And what exactly was said about me?"

Cody accidentally started fidgeting in his seat and became worried about what she would say about what he said about Fern.

"It doesn't matter what was said, but I'll tell you one thing; that boy is really into you," Kate said. "You'd be crazy not to go chasing after that."

"Then I suppose I'm insane," Fern said with a sigh, realizing that she knew this would come.

Cody started whining really loudly by accident but he quieted very quickly when the teacher stood up and asked nervously "Wha.......what was that?"

"Yes, you are," Kate said, turning her attention from Fern to the teacher. "What's what, Mr. Brisbane?" she asked him.

Mr. Brisbane said quickly "What was that whining? I swear that I heard a canine's whine but where did it come from?"

Cody looked at Fern sorrowfully and thought I wish you could feel the same way for me that I do for you girl!! I'm going nuts over you!!! His wolf growled and thought Why do you have feelings for her? She's not even wolf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I think it came from outside," Fern said. She also had heard it. "One of the windows is open." She nodded to the back of the room where the last window was cracked open a little.

Mr. Brisbane nodded his head and said "Thank you Fern. See me after class for a reward for your efforts. It might even be an A on the upcoming test if I feel grateful enough."

Cody smiled warmly and thought happily At least I help her out in getting good grades I guess. Wolf thought angrily She's using you stupid. Cody thought angrily She would NEVER do that wolf. Wolf growled and thought even more angrily Whatever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Oh, thank you, Mr. Brisbane," Fern said politely, though everyone in the class knew she didn't need that much help with her grade.

Kate rolled her eyes at the situation. If anyone needed help with an A, it was anybody but Fern.

Mr. Brisbane smiled and nodded his head once.

Cody raised his hand and once the teacher responded to his raised hand, he said "May I go to the restroom Mr. Brisbane? It might take up the rest of the period."

Mr. Brisbane smiled and said "Of course. What did you say your name was again?"

Cody smiled and said "John."

Mr Brisbane nodded his head and said "That's right. Please excuse me for being so rude."

Cody got up, picked up his books, left the classroom in a hurry, dropped off his books in his locker, went outside, morphed to his wolf form while maintaining his control, and hid in the bushes near the front doors to the buses, hoping to see Fern again and show her what he was.

Fern watched Cody as he left with a raised eyebrow, wondering why he gave the teacher a fake name. It couldn't have just been for a laugh. She shook away the thought as the bell rang to mark the end of the school day. Fern went to her locker, gathered her things, and headed outside with the rest of the students.

Once Cody seen Fern, he stepped out of the bushes a little bit and growled loudly and aggressively at Fern to get her attention. He thought This is the only way for her to see me for who I am. I didn't want to growl at her. Wolf thought You should do a lot more to her for treating you the way she has been.

Fern looked over at the bushes, gasping when she saw a wolf. No one else seemed to notice it, so Fern continued walking with the rest of the crowd into various buses, wondering why the wolf looked so familiar.
