"No, really," Insisted Kya. "I'm not good at fishing. I'd be better off here." She shot a desperate glance at Gale, mouthing the word "sorry".

Gale didn't reply. "I'll go fishing," Tess said.

"Tess can go instead of me," Gale said quickly.

"Alright, ok," said Setsuko before any more confusion could wedge its way into the conversation. "Jaci will take Tariq and Tess down to the lake for fishing, Kuilak and Sumi will go out into the forest to hunt, and the rest of us will stay behind. Deal?" She stared at the older children.

Gale was relieved Setsuko had interrupted, and smiled at her. "Deal," he said.

"Ok, then," Concluded Kuilak. "See you later; we'll be back as soon as possible." He and Sumi left with no more words, venturing out into the forest. Jaci trotted over towards the cabin door, glancing over his shoulder to be sure that Tariq and Tess where following.

Tess slipped her hand into her father's, and they followed Jaci out the door.

Gale walked over to Kya. "So..." he began awkwardly, at a loss of what to say. "Why didn't you want to go?" he finally asked. It may be a hard question for her to answer, but it was all he could think of.

"I don't like hunting. I'm better at taking care of children." Replied Kya. She smiled at Yuumi, who stumbled over to her, smiling.

Gale nodded, silen once more as he struggled to start a conversation. "Do you ever wish you had less siblings?" he finally managed.

"Occasionally," Kya admitted, "But I love them all. Even Sumi....though he can be a huge pain!" She winked towards the door through which her brother had just left.

Gale smiled for the second time that day. "So, what was it like where you lived?" he asked, changing the subject.

"Very snowy. And windy." Kya explained simply.

Gale nodded. "I haven't seen snow that often," he said. They were usually in Arizona during the summer, and often traveled throughout teh rest of the year. Nowhere's with a lot of snow.

"That's...different," Responded Kya. On the other side of the room, Misaki wailed, "I'm hungry!" "I know," Setsuko told her. "But we'll have food soon." Misaki brightened up at that. Then, poking her sister, she yelled, "TAG! KANNA'S IT!" and ran off. "Oh no you don't!" Kanna said teasingly, chasing after Misaki.
