"Me too!" Kai squeaked happily.
"Okay" Tosca shrugged. "It'll be kinda fun to find a good hunting ground anyway! Any suggestions?"
Una studied the tree line, not answering Tosca. Kai tilted her head and thought. She hadn't seen anything edible... but she'd seen tracks!
"I saw tracks a bit farther away from one of the smaller creeks!"
Tosca nodded.
"Lead the way"

As they all began to follow Kai, Twilight stopped suddenly, and cleared his throat to get their attention. "If it's all the same to everyone else, I'd like to stay here." he said. "You should always leave someone behind to guard the cave."

"Okay" Tosca shrugged. "See you in a bit"
Kai waited for her siblings, then started off, nose to the ground. Tosca nodded a goodbye to Twilight then was right behind her younger sister. Una waited until her brothers started off too, then fell into step behind them.

The almost white wolf led her siblings along the river until it branched off into smaller ones and led them to the opposite side of the huge hill that marked the center of their territory. Kai stopped there, looked at the ground and wagged her tail.
"See!" she chirped, pointing. "Prints!"

Yuma saw the prints and got excited. "Finally! We can go find some food now." he said. He was all ready and set to start following the prints as soon as Tosca said 'go'.

Twilight watched the others until they disappeared in the distance. Then he let out a shaky breath and limped to the cave. His wounded leg was flaring up with pain, as it sometimes did. He needed to rest so that it would go away, and he'd be no good to them on a hunt until the pain subsided.

The group quietly slipped through the trees, careful not to make the slightest sound to give away their location to any hidden pray. After several moments of not seeing anything, it was Una who finally spotted something. The oldest sister pointed through the trees to a lone deer. Tosca nodded silently back and motioned for the others to be ready to give chase.

Yuma tensed up and prepared to give chase at a moments notice. It was only his second hunt, but he felt that he could do it as easily as if he'd done it his whole life. He nestled into position between Kai and Rowtag, waiting for Tosca's signal to rush the deer.

Tosca nodded and the three sisters shot off like rockets. Kai, the quickest of the three even though she was the youngest, took the lead and rushed to the deer first. Tosca and Una rushed at the deer too, reaching it only a few moments after Kai had. The deer attempted to run, but the small white wolf was in front of it within a second. For a second the deer paused, but then instead of stopping, it kept going. For one terrifying second, Kai was sent rolling through the snow. The next moment, her other siblings had the deer down, but as soon as it was, Tosca sprinted back over to her youngest sister.

Yuma had seen Kai get hit and had stopped just short of jumping on the deer. He ran up next to Tosca and looked down with worry at unconscious form of his little sister. "Is she Ok?" he asked. "She's not dead, right?" Rowtag, who had walked up next to them, sniffed at her and shook his head. She was alive, at least.

Tosca nudged her sister while Una watched on worriedly and to everyone's relief, the white wolf's eyes fluttered open and she observed what was going on around her with a dazed stare.
"Whoa" she breathed. "I think I got hit"
Tosca laughed nervously, happy that her sister wasn't seriously hurt. Kai sat up slowly and got to her feet but tottered when she managed to stand.
"I think I hurt my leg" Kai muttered, raising her back right paw.
Una studied her younger sister's swollen back leg, but it was only swollen, not broken.
"Can you walk?"
"I think I can hop" Kai giggled.

Yuma laughed when she said that. "At least you still have a sense of humor." he said. Then his stomach growled and he smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. I haven't eaten in awhile and I'm starving." Rowtag nodded and gave a grunt in agreement.

"Me too" Kai chirped, hopping over to the deer happily.
Tosca and Una hung back a bit and Una, the more maternal of the two, didn't leave Kai's side.
"Well as long as you're okay, I'm okay" Tosca replied unsurely, following her siblings.

Back at the cave, Twilight awoke to the sound of birds chirping outside. He got up cautiously, and tested his leg. The pain had dulled to a slight throb, and so he decided he'd stayed in the cave long enough. He stepped outside... and almost butted heads with a young red and white wolf. His yellow eyes looked him up and down with amusement. "May I help you?" he asked.

Farren stepped back, startled. The older black wolf was an intimidating figure, and his voice sounded like death itself come to drag him to Hell, but he did his best not to show any fear. "Yes. My name is Farren, of the Riverbank Pack. I'm here to the wolf named Tosca." he proclaimed with authority.

The black wolf's eyebrows rose. "So I see." he said. "My name is Twilight, and I'm afraid that Tosca is somewhat indisposed at the moment." The red-streaked wolf sighed and turned to leave. Twilight called out to him as he left. "But I shall be sure to tell her that you stopped by!"

Farren looked back over his shoulder and smiled. "Thanks!" he called back, before bounding away back to his territory. The black wolf watched him disappear with that small knowing smile upon his lips again, then he turned and went back inside.

Once the siblings had finished eating, Tosca and Una stood close to their sister as she started hopping back. Una, revolting back to her old, wise self before they had left, was more careful of Kai then any of her siblings. For now, Kai was happily and energetically bouncing around, but she'd be exhausted eventually. And what was worse was that it seemed Kai's leg actually had gotten cut even though she acted unaware of it. Una grimaced. At least they seemed to be getting close to the cave.

Twilight exited the cave as the group came bounding up. He noticed that Kai seemed to be injured. He walked forward and met them half-way. "What happened?" he inquired as he walked up beside Tosca.

Tosca glanced up, relieved that Twilight was there.
"She jumped in front of a deer that was running. It never stopped... just kept on going. It trampled her"
"I thought it would stop" Kai shrugged. "But I'm not hurt that bad I think"
Una frowned and shook her head. "You should go lay down, your leg's bleeding too"
Kai nodded and Una helped her into the cave.
Tosca watched her sisters sadly, ignoring the fact that she and Una hadn't gotten into a fight.
"She'll be okay... right?"
