Hailey bites her lip. Her mind hatches a plan. "Maybe I can sneak over and snitch just a little bit of bacon that we can share," she whispers.
maybe this isn't such a good idea!... warned a little voice.
Hailey ignored it and inched forward as quietly as she could.

Zion makes a move as if to stop her, but Hailey keeps going.
what have I gotten myself into now?..
Trying to appear brave, she tiptoes over behind a trash can. The gang of dogs are laughing, joking and rough- housing and they don't seem to notice her.
Hailey spies a sausage link and carefully picks it up. Her heart pounds. Deftly, she crawls back to Zion, grinning proudly.
