Tess smiled. She went back to her stall.

"Oh, I'm feeling ok, but not really. I mean, I don't feel sick, just nervous," Midnight said.


Monday ran back to Tad and Rascal. "Midnight's gonna tell Jagger she likes him! But keep quiet, and don't tell ANYONE!!!" Monday whispered so ONLY thry could hear. "Oh, Tad, you can tell Thumper but make sure she doesn't tell anyone, either," she added to Tad.

Tad looked down at his paws.

"Jagger, I think I know why Bolt was so cruel to me before. See, she and I, like MANY other female dogs on this farm have a crush on you. She likes you and you were talking to ME, a wolf dog. I guess she was upset with this... but what I wanted you to know WHY I like you. I like you becaue you care about the other dogs, I like you because you aren't afraid to be yourself. I like you for YOU, not because you are the most gorgeous dog on the farm. I REALLY like you. I like you so much I love you. I LOVE you because you are nice to me, even thought all the other dogs make fun of me for being Midnight, and you didn't just not do it, you tried to STOP it. Jagger, I love you, and I just wanted you to know that," Midnight said. she walked out of the stall and hopped up the latter until she was into the loft, and settled into the horse blankets that sat in the dark corner. They were balck, she was black, and the corner was so dark she blended in perfectly, the only way to see her was with a flashlight or with the gilint of her amber eyes, and she cried. "I did it, Loki, i did it," she told her brother in heaven. Her tears were tears of joy, relief, and nrevousness...

Rascal wagged her tail. "Yay! Good for her!" She abrked happily.

Winter nodded. "Okay. I will."

Thumper smiled sweetly from behind Tad. "I won't tell."

Bolt stood behind Jagger, hearing the whole thing. She liked Jagger because she'd known him forever.. and because of his Jaggerness. And She was pretty sure Midnight had accused her of making fun of her. "I- I didn't mean to." She muttered, tears glazing her blue eyes.

Midnight heard this, even though she was at the other end of the barn, on the other side of the barn, and over the noise of the dogs. She burst into sobs, only these tears were tears of sadness, embarassment, anger, and grief. "I embarassed myself in front of 40 dogs, Monday must be frantic, and Jagger probably is after that beautiful border collie! I love him, but he probably thinks im crazy, confessing all that. I can't believe it! I love Jagger, but im positive he loves Bolt, im positive he now and forever will only like me as a friend. I should have never, NEVER have gotten close! Now, like Loki, like my mother, like my sibilings, like my LIFE, Jagger is going to leave me! I hate it! No, no! Loki, Loki left me, Mom left me, and now Jagger! I love him, and i always have and always will. I might as well give up. Give up on Jagger, bird hunting, Monday, god knows i let her down, and life! no. Not now. I need to be happy for Bolt. T-There is nothing wrong with her. She diserves him. He deserves her, not a wolf-dog. Just give up..." Midnoght sobbed, not caring if anybody heard.


Monday was crushed, too. "Tad, Rascal, Winter, Tess, what now?" she asked, her voice cracking with every word... " Tad, can we just ge back to training? Let's run laps to gain speed or something," Monday said, defeated. "You have a copmetition to win, and earn this farm glory," the skipperkee mix said. "Why don't we all, you know train" she said.

Thumper smiled. "I could teach you how to hunt... Or run faster.. or anything, really. My owner taught me a dog version of steeplechasing!"

Tad sighed. "Try and get someone other dogs to do it to, cause I dont think they will."

"Huh, kay, lets go then," Monday said miserably, thinking about Midnight. "Teach us, Thumper," she said, trying to borce a smile, but it just couldn't come through.
"Tad! You need to practice this steeplechasing too! You need to win that contest!" Monday scolded, but really yelled, her temper and pacients growing thinner minute by minute.

"Taddie, you dont wanna hunt?" She pouted. "Really? That's kind of sad." She looked at Monday. "Midnight will get over it. She's over-reacting." She said, but it was true..

"Taddie?" Tess asked, then started to ROFOL (Rolling On Floor, Laughing Out Loud)

"No Thumper! She won't! Apparently you don't understand, but-" she stopped she realized the dogs were looking at her. "Come on, lets just do this. Teach us, or else Im going to bed," Monday said icily, protecting her sister.
