"I'd hold your breath if I were you." said Balto as the stench reached Rico. He went up to Nica. "Its ok, everyone gets skunked at least once." he said. "At least it didn't get in your eyes or mouth, if it gets in your eyes it burns something awful and if gets in your mouth, it will be impossible not to smell it." he said. "I got sprayed by a whole family of skunks my first time, that was a LOT worse than this."

Nica kept walking until she saw her mom. "Mom, Dad!" She yowled as she raced over to them.
Rico raced after them too.
"What the heck happened to you?" Flash and Athina both said as they covered their noses.
"I got Skunked! But that's not the best part! Uncle Balto is a great story teller!" Rica mewed as she looked admiringly into Balto's eyes.

"Yeah, they ran out but I was right behind them." said Balto, still covering his nose. "Nica thought the skunk was a cat." he said. "I don't have any tomatoes or we could deskunk her, Boris knows where to get them but he's gone with Muk and Luk to fish." he said. "And won't be back for a few days so we're going to have to deal with that stench but at least it will keep Steele away." he said and looked to Rico. "Laugh now, you'll have to sleep with that stink for the next few days."

Rico's eyes almost laughed. "No we won't, there's some Tomatoes over there!" He mewed pointing his muzzle at a dozen tomatoes who where tucked into a plank on the boat.

"Good old Boris." said Balto. "But we have to wait to sun up, too cold at night for a bath, your sister would frezze." he said. "So you're stuck with that stink till sun up." he said, it was sundown right now. He had his paw firmly over his nose and his eyes were watering but he chuckled.

Flash and Athina both picked up a kit. "Goodnight balto" Flash said. "Good night" Athina added. They entered their little "house" and started to fall asleep

Balto nodded. "Goodnight, I hope your nose can take the smell, peeyeew!" he said, still keeping his paw over his nose. He went up to the deck and got under the blacket Jenna had given him. Jenna's scent helpped overcome the stench but he still kept his paws over his nose. Jenna's scent though was the most plasent thing he could be smelling anytime though and made the skunk stink seeping through the floor less terrible.

That morning Athina and Rico went for a walk around town. Flash left Nica in their house. He had drowned an open rock that looked like a bowl full of tomatoe juice. He told her just to sit in there for a while. "Good morning Balto" Flash said as he walked into Deck.

"Morning Flash." said Balto, glad the skunk smell was decreasing in potency. "Dude, your nose looks like a charry." he said, refering to the stench having several irrated Flash's nose. He looked at Rico. "How did you like spending the night with a skunked cat sleeping next to you?"

"Jenna gave me her blanket and her scent kind of made it seem less bad." said Balto. "It might be a little corny but her being my first, and only, dog friend, makes her special to me for some reason. I mean you're my friend but she's the only friend I have that's my speices, no offense."
