Also, the VHS sold about 4 million I believe, which is about how much the Halo and Super Smash Bros. Melee video games sold.

You can't just compare films sales and video games sales...It's not even the same time period...

Of course it didn't sell as well as Disney classics like Aladdin or Lion king but it surely did better on videos than in theaters...

Time period doesn't matter a whole lot. Every gaming generation has had a few games that have sold around that much.

I mean that the video game industry is much much bigger than it was 5 or 10 years ago...

This is getting off-topic, but games have been interesting long before high-end graphics.

BTW, did Land Before Time ever get a special edition?

Yep, from what I've read on here, there was a special edition a couple of years ago (which apparently was horrible), and Universal recently released a 'remastered' edition for the film's 15th anniversary. Well, lets hope Balto gets the same treatment in 2011. Even if there isn't much extras, it may bring back interest in Balto.

2025, the 100th anniversary of the Race of Mercy, would seem pretty suitable too. I hope Universal does something with the Balto franchise then!

An "anniversary edition" as far as I know: http://www.amazon.com/Land-Before-Time- ... 931&sr=1-1

Which didn't have anything special to it, in fact. It's just like a regular dvd.

Some of the reviewers said that the image restoration axed the quality pretty badly.

You know, LBT is their most treasured franchise, and Balto is one of their roughest failures. If they half-witted their most popular animated movie ever, what are they going to do for Balto?
