Sydney ate a small snack, and then retreated to her own room, when the phone rang.
"Hello?" She answered, relieved to here the voice of her friend Joan on the other end.
"Sydney! Hey, are you okay? I heard you went missing at school!" Her friend's voice said, coated with worry.

Scotty picked up his guitar and started working on one of the strings that had come loose, he happen to over hear his sister and listened while he worked.

"Yeah yeah Joan i'm fine, Hope was just bein' a b**** again.." Sydney replied with a sigh.
"What;d she do this time?" Joan asked.
"She..cut me actually, it was kinda scary.."

Scotty perked when he heard this. He got up and walked to his desk (which was closer to his door than his bed was) and started acting like he was looking for something, but he really wanted to hear his sister.

"Ohmygod really!? You should call the police!" Joan queaked, and Sydney shrugged.
"No no..It wasn't deep or anything..I didn't know she carried a pocket knife with her though."

Scotty had stopped paying attention to his hands, which rummaged through his drawer, he just gulped at the thought of Hope with a pocket knife. He felt a sharp pain in his hand and yelped "S**t!", jerking them out of the drawer. He had stabbed his finger with a thumb-tack.

Sydney perked at her brother's outburst, and she went into his room.
"You okay?" She asked, holding the phone down at her hip, covering the speaker.

He turned and looked at her, his pinky finger in his mouth. He nodded in reply the took his finger out and examined it.

"Is that like..the older version of sucking your thumb?" Sydney teased, before walking out of the room.

He rolled his eyes and wiped his hand on his pant leg, then returned to working on his guitar.

Sydney finished talking with Joan, simplybecause her dad was home. She hung up and went downstairs, to greet her father, and get a small badage for her hand.

"Hey, Sydney. How was school?" their father asked when his daughter came down the stairs.

"It was okay." Sydney lied. Okay was always how she described school to her parents, never 'it was great!' or anythnig.

He knew his daughter wasn't going to give him a descriptive answer "Where's your brother?" he asked, he always asked that question... simply to make sure they hadn't killed one another.

"I buried his body in the backyard." Joked Sydney. "He's in his room dad."
