Ellis smirked again and crossed his arms. "After years of searching for our leader, you didn't think we were just going to wait another year for a reply, did you?"
Kyler shot a death glare at Ellis. "Ridiculous." she hissed under her breath. But then, her cheeks flushed bright red. How long have they been spying? What if they all saw the kiss? She sighed and looked back at Damien. "I guess we have no choice but to decide now, huh?" She was still surprised at how rude they were all being, barging in and spying on them and all that.

Ellis thought for a moment, tapping his finger on his chin, then listed, "Well, you'd pretty much just have to go through training to learn how to control your powers, and then protect us from these whack-jobs who have been trying to collect us for research ever since we were babies." Ellis turned to look around him. "Anyone else think of anything else?"
"I think that's it." Carmen growled, suddenly appearing from behind the tree, playing with a flame on her fingertip.
Kyler shot a steely glare at Chase. "Can you not?" she snapped harshly, knowing exactly the way he was looking at Damien.

Ellis shrugged. "We go wherever we need to to escape. If someone finds out about us, we relocate. But for now, we'll stay here, if it's what you want."
Kyler rolled her eyes at Ellis, then snapped at Chase, "You know what!"
"Please stop fighting..." Tara said almost inaudibly to Kyler and Chase. "It doesn't solve problems..."
Kyler turned away angrily, knowing that Tara was right, but she still didn't like the way Chase was looking at Damien.

Kyler growled when Chase didn't quit it, but she shrugged it off, knowing he would just keep it up anyway. She squeezed Damien's hand. "If you feel like you need to join, then I'm all for it. It's your decision." she told him, aware of the consequences it could have on them. She didn't want to lose Damien either, but it was his destiny, and he had to decide himself. "I'll go with whatever you choose." she added.
"And don't worry sweetheart." Ellis interrupted, "Since you already know everything, you could come to the training too. You know I don't mind." He ended with a snicker.

Ellis tried to jump out of the way, but it was too late. The fireball had scorched Ellis's shirt, burning the skin on his neck and shoulder as well. It knocked him backwards and he hit the tree, his back slamming against it as the pain of being burned overcoming him. He laid there for a second, recovering from the blow, then put his hand against the burn. Ellis' eyes remained clamped shut, his teeth clenched in pain.
Kyler put her hand over her mouth in shock, her eyes widened. "Oh my God!" she cried into her hand. "Oh my God!" It was more out of surprise than anything else, and even though she hated Ellis, she couldn't believe that Damien actually controlled a fireball to shoot at him.
"Ellis!" Carmen cried, running to his aid. "Dymitri!" she called, "Get some water on this now!"

Carmen growled. "Sorry Dymitri, I forgot! I'm just kinda distracted right now!" She shouted in response.
"Damien!" Kyler cried as he fainted, falling into the grass. She tried to catch his arm as he fell, but she wasn't fast enough. She dropped to her knees beside him, shaking him to try and wake him back up. She kept trying to wake him up, but so far nothing worked. "What the hell just happened?!" Kyler shouted to the others. "I thought he needed to go through training!" She stopped trying to wake him up when she noticed he had a gash on Damien's head where it hit the ground. She sat cross-legged, putting his head on her lap and wiping the blood off with one of her gloves.

"Tomorrow afternoon?" Kyler repeated, brushing Damien's hair out of the wound. She looked down at him, hoping he was alright. Even if he did sleep until tomorrow, she promised herself that she would stay with him until he awoke. She leaned down and kissed him, just happy that he was still alive.
Tara knelt beside Ellis, saying quietly. "I can send some air into his bloodstream to help him heal faster... i-if you guys think that would work."

Tara whirled her hands in a circular motion, whipping up a small whirlpool of air. She directed it into the burn, the clear current disappearing into the charred pieces of flesh.
Ellis stirred for a moment, feeling the air course through his veins. It was a good kind of hurt though, like pulling a thorn from your foot. It eased the burning down a little, and he let go of a breath he didn't realize he was holding. "Thanks, Tara." he managed, smiling at her. "And thanks Bandit and Chase, too." he added, wincing in pain every once in a while.
