Kali, covered in rubble and dust, sneezed as yet more dust was loosed into the air. The hole wasn't big enough to fit through yet, but she could see out of it.
"Hey Kali," Tally said. "Where do we pull next?" the last question was directed at Ranger and Tucker.

Ranger thought for a moment.
"Well, I would like to get some more of the rubble on top of her, off, but all the pieces are too large. If we remove this section," He gestured a paw to a section of wall to the left side of Kali, "we could probably free her that way."

The five dogs moved the second piece of rubble out of the way, creating a large enough hole for Kali to climb out of.

"I see. Listen, we found out some rather...disturbing news about whats going on. Do you remember where Ira said that humans were building a place to survive? We may need to travel there after all."

Ranger looked sternly at the scared dogs.
"Just because Roscoe said the world was going to end doesn't mean that's necessarily the case. We'll just be playing it safe by heading to wherever this giant red hole in the earth is, so if something does end up happening, we'll be ready. I'll ask around and see if any dog knows more about this place and I'll let you guys know."

December had started, but with the rising temperatures, it most definitely didn't feel like winter. The temperature was at 65 degrees as Ranger walked down the main street of the town, which was practically deserted. It had taken several weeks, but Ranger had finally found out exactly where the mysterious red hole was and he was determined to find his friends right away to tell them the news.
He had Charles in tow, who was practically giddy with excitement, was trying to get Ranger to tell him before anyone else. Ranger denied his every request.
"Sorry Charles, but if I tell you now, your going to have questions. Wait until we get every dog together so I only have to explain everything once. okay?"

Tucker followed them, practically jumping out of his fur with excitement.
"You know where it is? Tell me where it is! I bet I knew where it is all along! Tell me!"
Ranger let out a small grin. Even in these times of panic, Tucker still was somehow able to stay his jumpy, hyper self. It's an admirable quality, really.
Ranger knew every dog was eager to hear the location, so he came right out and said it.
"It's the Grand Canyon. Arty, that young yellow lab that lives on the outskirts of town told me. He had vacationed there with his people last summer. Unfortunately, he doesn't know the way there, but he does know it's in a much hotter place than here, so I'm guessing it's south somewhere. We should leave as soon as possible if we want to make it there."

"I'll go find her," Dakota siad, dashing off. Soon her returned with Kali.
"Dakota told me where it was. I can't ebelive you found it!" she said happily.
