Kayiya was still trying to claim him as he mate?! Takoda hoped Kiona knew he had no intention of being her mate. But it seemed she had no concern with the matter as they engaged in the fight. The wolf was sure to stay out of the way, not that he could help if he wanted to. He was too numb from the cold weather, and sore from the other's abuse. from his place shivering off to the side, his golden eyes stayed locked on the two females. He rooted for Kiona, but also hoped neither were hurt.

Thankfully it seemed the hybrid had won this fight. Kayiya's head was covered with mud now from being submerged. She stumbled back some to catch her breath. Inwardly, Takoda was hoping the alpha would give up and just leave. Was it really worth all this trouble? There were other wolves out there after all. Why him?

Kayiya spat out some mud from her mouth and tried to shake it off, but she was too wet and cold, she noticed, to do it well enough. She took one last glance at Takoda before glaring at Kiona and then leaving. She growled in frustration, half upset, half enraged. Tho she didn't know who she was angrier at: the hybrid, Takoda, or herself. Either way, in her current state, she would not be able to win Takoda or even the fight for that matter. There was still hope for her predicament yet, but for now, she took defeat and departed.

Kiona watched the she-wolf leave as she neared Takoda. Once Kayiya was out of sight, she leaned down to Takoda's level and asked, "Are you okay? Can you walk back with me?"

Takoda was glad the other female was now gone. He didn't want to think of what would have happened if Kiona hadn't shown up. Glancing up slowly as she neared, it calmed him some. At her question, the wolf frowned a bit.

"I think I'm alright, nothing too serious. But I don't think I could walk if I wanted to right now. Or not very far at least. I hurt my paw earlier..." His ears drooped at that, a bit ashamed at the fact that he might be causing the other trouble. "I'm sorry. Thank you for saving me. She was forcing me to come with her to be her mate." He shivered a bit, feeling more and more tired as the cold numb feeling grew. He wanted nothing more right then to lay his head down and rest, now uncaring of the cold rain and mud.

Kiona nodded as a form of "You're welcome," and she looked around for shelter. There had to have been something better than those tree roots she saw sticking out from the hill. She kept searching, until she saw a familiar large tree in the distance. She remembered that tree, she had taken care of Achak there while he was sick one day. Beneath the tree at the time was a little cozy cave. Hopefully it wasn't flooded out so they could stay there.

"Come on," Kiona said, pushing herself against Takoda so he could stand. "There might be shelter this way." Takoda hobbled alongside the hybrid, while she tried to give him any support needed. He was still bigger than she was, so it was difficult for her to provide much support. They finally made it to the underground cave, and it, thankfully, was only wet in the entrance. The back was as dry as a bone.

Takoda laid down and started shivering. Kiona lay beside him to try and warm him up, but the real problem was the cold mud on his body. It wasn't helping any, that's for certain, so she did her best to lick the worst of it from his face and neck.

Takoda couldn't really do much but lie there shivering and willing himself to stop. He didn't want to worry the other. But it couldn't be helped. He then tried to help the female clean him up, slowly beginning to lick the mud from his paws, being gentle around his injured paw, which still ached pretty badly. Eventually, being as tired and numb as he felt, the wolf stopped, just lying his head down with a sigh.

"Thank you, but it's alright, really. No need to bother with the mud, it'll wash off." shivering again, he closed his eyes tiredly, wanting nothing more than to sleep. Hopefully the red female wouldn't mind too much. "Sorry for being trouble..." the whole pack must be worried by now...

"It's no trouble." Kiona said in between licks. She continued to try and clean him, but still try not to keep him from sleeping. He must've been exhausted. Once she got most of the mud off, she snuggled in closer to him and rested her head over his and tried to fall asleep. If she hadn't gotten to know the whole pack, she normally wouldn't have gotten this close to him.

The next morning, Kiona instinctively woke up before Takoda. She needed to wake him up tho, because they were already gone all night. The entire pack was probably worried sick about them. She nudged him with her nose.

"Takoda.." she whispered. He didn't move. Then she nudged him with her shoulder. "Takoda. We have to go." When she spoke louder, he still didn't stir. Why wasn't he moving? "Takoda..! You better just be a deep sleeper!" She growled. She nudged him again.

Usually Takoda would be easier to wake, most of the time waking on his own. But due to the experience yesterday, the wolf was still weary. But at the prodding from the female, eventually it got through to him, and his golden eyes blinked open slowly.

"Mm, wha?" Yawning widely, the grey wolf raised his head and glancing about, eyes catching sight of the other, he blinked a couple more times before yesterday's memories came back to him. He had automatically thought he had been back in the safety of the pack, curled up with his family in the caves. Unfortunately he really wasn't. But at least Kiona was with him, and she was part of the pack family. Quickly guessing it was time to go, also knowing the pack would be worried, Takoda moved to get up slowly, careful of his injured paw. Thankfully it wasn't as sore anymore, and he could put some weight on it. He would be able to walk, just with a slight limp.

Stretching and shaking out his fur, "Okay lets go..." They walked out, both glad the rain had spent itself.

Kiona heaved a sigh, thankful that Takoda wasn't severely worn from yesterday's events. "If you scare me like that again, I'll bite you." Kiona spat, at the same time helping Takoda get out of the cave. He apologized and once he was finally able to slip out from the cave, the hybrid did the same, unfortunately getting dirty in the process. Nonetheless she continued to help him make their way back. The ground was still soft, but at least they weren't sinking every time they stepped.

"You know," Kiona started saying to Takoda. "I'm very glad you didn't go with that wolf. Sometimes siblings feel...jealous or envious of each other." Kiona knew from her own experiences. Even tho she and her father weren't very close, she couldn't stand how he favored her older sister over herself or any of her siblings for that matter. But she was thankful that Takoda knew better than that.

I was just wondering if this was finished, or if you all were still using it. If so, I'll be happy to leave it be, but if not, I'll delete it.

Takoda gimped along beside the red hybrid, listening to her as she spoke, glancing to her briefly, surprised at her words. Did she think he might have been jealous of Achak? "Oh, I'm not even close to being the alpha type. I'm perfectly happy where I am. And I don't feel any anger at my brother for not putting me in any sort of higher position. I'm not much of a fighter, and I don't know much at all about running a pack... I'm definitely a follower, not a leader. I'm sure Kayiya would have soon killed me after finding out for herself, if you hadn't come and stopped her from forcing me to go. So really, I owe you my life Kiona." he looked at her sincerely, smiling. "Thank you."

She had not only saved him, but, as much as she probably didn't want it, Kayiya's as well. Knowing his brother, Achak would have hunted her down in cold blood if the gray wolf had been killed. That, and Takoda was glad it wouldn't be causing sadness of his family as well, especially his mother and siblings. "You know, you'd make a good alpha I think. You're strong, and you learn quickly. You've certainly the dominance if anything.." he chuckled, teasing lightly.

Kiona smiled a small smile and said he was welcome. She wouldn't have wanted any harm to come to Achak's family either. Since she was growing closer to them and the rest of the pack, she probably would've felt no more upset than Achak if something bad happened.

But when Takoda mentioned her being a good alpha, she took it rather seriously, not really noticing the play in his voice. "Of course I do. I don't let anyone push ME around. If they do, they regret it.." she growled, not to him, but simply looked ahead towards their destination, which came sooner than realized.

As they made their way to the caves, Takoda only slipping a couple times in the slick mud due to his sore paw. Thankfully though, it hadn't been broken. He'd been very lucky. On many levels. All the wolf wanted now thought was to get back and clean up, maybe eat, and then have a good rest. At the base of the cliffs, from above, a voice rang out, causing both returning pack members to look up. It was Ayashi, announcing their arrival excitedly with yips and howls. Her barks were soon carried and more rang out at the news. It wasn't long after they'd climbed up that the entire pack surrounded them.

Olathe was first to her son, having to skid to a stop the silver wolf had rushed out so fast. Immediately her concerned blue eyes were evaluating, taking in the mud caked fur, and how Takoda wasn't putting too much weight on his paw. He was injured? "We were so worried, are you two alright?" Ayashi stood next to her mother, with equal concern, but relief as well, matching the rest of them.
