I re-read the petition, and there are a few parts which I think could offend Universal when they read it. Quote: - The current DVD release does not respect the film in any way... (such a cheap cover can even turn out people by thinking it's not the "true" Balto film) Quote: How do you expect that people will buy something they can't find? Also, you never released any DVD pack with the Balto films, so releasing Balto 1 as a single shouldn't be a problem. Well, that's only the truth. We can't expect them to change their methods if we don't show them that they're wrong. The petition is not there to comfort them into their ideas, it's the opposite...

877 signatures. I sure hope there's a spike in signatures after the 3-DVD pack is released in Nov. It's good that something is being done for the movie.
Imagine if Balto had failed both in theaters and on VHS. We'd be pretty much out of luck then.

Yep, I already know why it failed.
Also, the VHS sold about 4 million I believe, which is about how much the Halo and Super Smash Bros. Melee video games sold. The VHS didn't sell as well as any Disney classic, but it seems that most people who saw it in theaters ended up buying it. That's pretty good in my book.

4 million is a fairly respectable amount for a VHS that supposedly crashed in theater-release. I even happen to have an original VHS copy of it.
