The work for this assignment asks you to take the work you are prompted to do by the "In the News/On the Web Research" assignment and turn it in to a mini Annotated Bibliography.


The correct layout of the annotated bibliography contains the following items in order of how they should appear from the top of assignment you submit to your instructor:

Following this, you will provide the portions below three times (for three researched and annotated articles) on the following annotation prompts:
--a correct citation for the annotation as it is listed in alphabetical order by the author's last name or, not having that, by the first letter of the title of the article

--a complete summary that reveals what the article was about, the major points made in the article, the issue at stake in the reason for the article's being published, etc. The reader of your summary (including you) should come away from reading it and have a fairly good idea about what is important in and about the article; don't forget to include direct quotes from the author that are helpful to the discussion of the issue

--a complete overview of the author's credibility to be writing on the subject, other articles s/he has written on the subject, his/her education, the awards s/he has won in their field, etc. This section should also contain a brief overview of the source from which the article comes and other types of stories, news, or articles they publish or the political angle the source may be representing

--a complete review of how the article itself connects to the subject you are choosing to research and write about. This section should also contain information about how the article will help you in future endeavors on writing about the subject in the paper for the unit that you will eventually turn in at the completion of it

The only thing we do not want for understandable reasons is a commercial usage of our photos! (that also includes [point]commissions on deviantArt)

From the title of the book, we assume that "Pudd'nhead Wilson" will be the main subject of the book. However, he is introduced as a sort of side character who doesn't really get a huge role until he is needed. When we first meet Wilson, we find out he is a law student, hoping to set up a successful firm. As Twain tells us, “He had wandered to this remote region from his birthplace in the interior of the State of New York, to seek his fortune. He was twenty-five years old, college bred, and had finished a post-college course in an Eastern law school a couple of years before.” (Twain1)
We also find out that Wilson is extremely intelligent and seems friendly and kind hearted. He also has a good sense of humor. Unforunately no one else in the town seems to understand him. The townspeople are slow, essentially backwards in their thinking, and can't understand a simple joke.
The townspeople give him a horrid nickname, “pudd’nhead”, and treat him about as nicely as they treat dirt. He's of no importance to them and doesn't matter one single bit. Because of their low opinion of him, Wilson’s hopes for his law firm aren’t going so well. Nonetheless Wilson becomes a bookkeeper in the town, and pursues his strange hobby of collecting people’s fingerprints.
