Well, when it gets to inter-species stuff, it gets way too weird. And off-limits here. So, I suggest we re-orient ourselves to the main topic:

Should Kodi and Dusty have pups? Yes or No?

As to your question, to me it is a moot point since the Balto property has been shelved by Universal Studios indefinitely. Some may believe that means it's dead permanently. And that may be so. Or it may not. It's never wise for anyone to second-guess Hollywood. But while there is the implication of a relationship between Dusty and Ralph (which Phil Weinstein himself confirmed), and no apparent implication of one between Dusty and Kodi, I suppose it doesn't mean that it's not possible. Their dogs, after all. Cartoon dogs perhaps...but dogs all the same. And dogs are not monogamous "mate-for-lifers", like humans and some other species.

Some compelling arguments, to be sure. I could offer further rebuttal, but at this point we're just chasing our tails anyway, so I'll leave it be.

Yea even when I was a kid, seeing a trailer for Balto 2, I thought and was hoping that Aleu was another potential love interest for Balto. Till they said she was his daughter xD

Should Kodi and Dusty have pups? There's one simple answer for that: no.

I don't know why, after Phil Weinstein himself, said that Kodi and Dusty do NOT have anything "going on", people insist that they do and that that is the couple that is cannon. (Don't understand? Kodi and Dusty are not a couple). Really, the two characters do not work together. It's like the people that think Harry and Hermione should have ended up together after sign after sign was thrown in their face. -.-

Just because Kodi and Dusty looked at eachother a few times doesn't mean they have a romantic relationship. At all. Look here also.

You know, I have seen a lot of anti Kodi/Dusty people insist that our arguments are based on things like "they looked at each other" and "it's canon," but I rarely see that actually used by the Kodi/Dusty crowd. I can't speak for everyone, not even everyone who thinks they belong together. But personally my view is that Kodi would be a better choice for Dusty. I'm well aware that Dusty liked Ralph in the film. As a matter of fact I would have preferred to see more of them and less of Boris and Stella (I mean hardly anything could be worse than Stella if you ask me). I have never claimed that Kodi/Dusty was canon. But I think it's highly probable that whatever she saw in Ralph would not carry them through a serious relationship. Trust me, I know what happens when a guy lacks dedication as much as Ralph did. I was the guy. I blew it.

As for the assertion that Kodi would be a poor choice because he's such a work-a-holic, I disagree. It was plainly shown in the movie that he knew how to have fun when he wasn't working. He knew how to prioritize, that's all (and believe me, I know the signs of a guy who's too obsessed with his career to take time for a wife or kids. My dad was like that; still is even though he's retired. And Kodi's got noe of the signs). Besides, the most vehement supporters of that assertion whom I've met also seem to support Jenna/Steele, usually based on arguments that all boil down to Steele having "better" DNA (i.e. the pups would be purebreds, Steele is better looking, yadda yadda yadda), which is way more shallow and anti-canon than any Kodi/Dusty argument out there except for the pathetic straw man notions certain people insist on bringing up.

Would I say it's true that Dusty was supposed to be with Ralph in the movie? Sure. Would I say that Kodi was more serious than Ralph? Definitely. Is it logical to say that either of those are logical reasons why Dusty shouldn't be with Kodi, or why she couldn't break up with Ralph in favor of a guy who has more to be said in his favor? In a word, no.

One could argue that even tho a guy is a "good guy" doesn't mean he's the best for a particular person xD

A few of my friends have been dating for a long time, and even tho they're all great people, they're better off with someone who meets all their needs. Not just their practical ones. (And in another case not just their "romantic" needs either.)

So very true. Some people like the serious practical person (ugh), some like the fun-loving cheerful person, some like a mix.. etc. And Dusty definitely seemed like the kind to appreciate good and playful humour. She laughed at and with Ralph whenever he made a joke, and often joked along with him. They both know when to be serious, but most of the time they just have a laugh. He makes her smile, that's all she seems to need. Kodi seems too serious and job-obsessed for her.

And once again, ignore practically everything that the other side has actually SAID on the matter. I am fairly certain you guys would get creamed if this were a debate with serious judges, etc.

Cat, all things said and done, I think you have the least place criticizing on that front out of anyone on this site. If you're going to appeal to the director as a trump-card authority on the subject, first you should renounce your membership of the JennaxSteele fandom, seeing as the directors, the scriptwriters, animators, etc. pretty much fried that one.

Besides, once again, we are discussing whether they SHOULD, not whether they did or will. You and Rebel were better off saying that he was "too job-oriented." Then again, Steele was too arrogant to have room in his life for anyone else, so again you'd have to trade in your membership card for the S&J club.

I basically like that pairing cuz I think Balto's a lame character xD And Steele's just better. Just because Balto saved Rosie doesn't necessarily mean that Jenna would feel the need to keep a relationship with him. Besides, girls may date jerks all the time. But they never date uninteresting people. *nod nod* (if they do, not for long) Oh and Dusty and Kodi shouldn't anyway. He likes his job too much, it's true.
