^ And yet there is an even BIGGER phenomenon of grown men (and adults in general) dressing up as animals like a bunch of ten year olds. So they all must be child-hunting drug-addicts too. Or heck, ANYONE who dresses up as ANYTHING they like or enjoy are automatically pedophiles or drug addicts. Mhm.

Yeah, men who dress up as MLPs ARE gross, but that doesn't give you any right to be so judgemental.


You very obviously don't get it at all. I think you've never even bothered to watch the show, or ask anyone politely why they enjoy it. Yes, some gay men like it. So do straight men. A lot of women love and enjoy it as well. Keep in mind that things you don't see as being "so great" are things that other people might really enjoy, and vice versa. Some people won't like things that YOU like, and I'm sure you'd be a little hurt or insulted if they accused you of being a homosexual drug-abusing pedophile. Yes, a lot of teenage boys and men do enjoy it. Big freaking whoop. If girls are allowed to enjoy things like violent/horror video games and other things not feminine, then why can't it be the same for the male gender? I can't believe we still live in such a sexist world.

Anyway, to your question. Why do we enjoy it so much? I can't speak for all bronies, but I can give my reasons.

- The animation style. It just LOOKS fantastic. Very smooth, colourful, and very neatly animated. You can tell a lot of effort is put into it.
- The stories. The plotlines are clearly very well thought out, and they always have very good lessons to teach for both children and adults -- much like Disney films.
- The characters. All of them are unique and enjoyable in their own way, and you find yourself relating to them. Even characters I don't like in general will still have their moments and make me laugh or smile. The designs are great, the voice acting is great, the personalities are great.. you can tell a lot of thought was put into them, and it makes them all brilliant.
- The music. The songs are AMAZING, especially in the second season. Always beautifully written and performed, they're extremely catchy and great fun to sing to. Sometimes the singing is broadway-worthy, and the music is always gorgeous.
- The feeling of nostalgia. Let's face it, most kid's shows SUCK these days, so this one is like a breath of fresh air. No one expected it to be this popular, but I think it absolutely deserves its popularity, because it FEELS like a classic cartoon. Not to mention the fact that a lot of the female fans (and even a select few male fans) were fans of the original 80's cartoon and toys, and they greatly appreciate the new well-made show. Especially considering a few of their favourite characters are still around, and the show will often reference to previous designs - even amoung background characters. You can tell they care a lot about this show -- something which lacks in quite a lot of media these days, but the creators put their hearts and souls into this one, and it shows.

So, there you have it. There are more reasons, but I just listed the basics. This is why I, and most bronies enjoy the show so much, in a nutshell. I hope I have enlightened you somewhat, even though I doubt you even bothered reading all this or can come to a mature response other than "LOL GAY". Whatever, figured I might as well type this up for anyone who wants to read xD

I'd only watch it if I was baby-sitting small children. It's just obviously a kid's(read: little girl's) show. Sure, the creators do put a lot of effort into it, and it's not as annoying as a lot of shows that have potty humor and all that junk..But really I don't see why it's so hyped. I've watched several episodes, and I just can't get into it. I can't get into something that is aimed toward a 6-10 age group. It's just so juvenile.
The only ep I was most(read: Vaguely) interested in, was the season 2 finale. I loved the music and the plot! 83

I don't care if people are fans of it. I'm actually GLAD it exists. Know why? Because if it DIDN'T, there wouldn't be the glorious parodies! That's what I love!

I DO MIND..when people flame me for not liking it, or make a huuuuge huuuge deal of how God-like it is, how perfect, and a big reason: when people subject it to their sick fantasies and fetishes. etc.etc.

I can't speak for the fandom, but I have to say it was all thought out and definitely premeditated. And hey... If you think about it, there have been Bronies since the 80's series. They just aren't as vocal. Lauren Faust is one of those 'original bronies', and because she loved the show, she decided that it was her turn to continue it with G4. I won't lie. There is a lot of hype. But who complained vocally about the Twilight fans? For months, all we ever saw was Edward, Jacob, Hurpadurr(sorry, had to x3). I was one of those people, but I have grown to just have no feeling toward the franchise. It was supposed to edgy and dark. It's kinda emo and GOD is it whiny! (Sorry Twilight fans)

At any rate... Bronies. Bronies are awesome. The show is great. Good plots, great voices, AMAZING songs, fantastic animation and near flawless character designs. I love it, and, as you can see I am flamboyant about my love.

I agree- even though I am a fan of the show- I can't exactly say its the best thing I've ever watched, nor can I defend its popularity and the hype that it receives.
Yes, its a entertaining show- but not as good as some fans make it out to be, if you know what I mean :/

The fandom itself and the hype has died down quite a bit after the third season began to air. While I do enjoy the show, the character's are compelling and great, animation is high quality, and the stories are interesting, whether episodic or a chronological one, I must agree all this fandom stuff isn't necessary. For example, fanfics and animations while ponie involved in gruesome murder? Huh? I must say I love Lauren Faust, she worked on Cats Don't Dance, Iron Giant, Fosters, Powerpuff Girls, a bunch of classics we all remember. It may be overhyped, but it's still a good show.
