Kodi listened. But he didn't understand. He hadn't dine anything... Wait, did this point to Katie? To what he had done to her and to Dusty? He decided to play dumb. "What kinds of things get you such bad karma?"

Belladonna was studying his face slowly, but kept that happy smile on her face. "Well, darling, there are a few things that get you such bad luck. Hurting family, doing bad deeds... Is there anything else, dearest?" she asked Sakak.

Kai seemed to wave that off. "Its winter. All the bears will still be sleeping for a few more weeks. There's nothing to worry about."

"Hurting ones own children will defiently do it," said Sakak. "...Being selfish is a big attracter for bad karma, especially if you hurt others to do so," he said, thinking. "Oh! Being unfaithful to your mate behind her back, that will defiently do it! Especially if you're decieving the other one as well."

"I wouldn't be too sure..." said Lena. "Me and Tai have had...disturbed one before..."

Kodi tried not to look shocked, but failed miserably. He shook his head lightly, trying to clear his thought. Was... was all this happening because what he had did to Katie and Dusty? To his kids?

Belladonna smirked. "Dear, what's on your mind?" she asked as if she couldn't read his face well enough.

"No. No... I just..." He stammered, getting up and brushing past the two and out the door of the boiler room.

Kai chuckled, nodding. "It'll be okay. I don't think there are many bears in this area. Not this close, anyway."

"My my," said Sakak. "It would seem you've had a bit of a start, do you know what you might have done to invite karma to come knocking?"

Kodi looked back at the two cats, abd shook his head. "I-I don't have time to discuss it! I have to go!" he said, running off.

Belladonna watched him go. "Should we nudge him towards the right destination? Those pups do want their parents to see the Northern Lights."

Jenna ran, looking about for signs. "Do you have any scent of her, Balto?"

"Naturally," said Sakak. "But first, we need to make sure to keep him busy until nightfall...I know, let's guide him to those who he feels he wronged so he can apologize to them in order."

Balto sniffed and nodded. "Yeah, I do," he said, leading the way, they soon found Katie and her old friend. "That must be the wolf they warned us about..." he whispered to Jenna.

"Good idea, hon." said Belladonna, grinning.

Jenna looked on, seeing Katie fooling around with her friend, looking happy. "Hm. Well, he doesn't look like there's any good in time at all."

Sakak gave it some thought. "...Dusty is here, let her return to normal form and meet him along the waY?"

Cachen nodded. "I wonder where she is," he said, then looked to Anbelle. "Do you know?"

Belladonna smirked, and looked to Dusty. "What do you think? Think your friend can give you a good apology?"

Anabelle shook her head. "Even I can't watch every dog on Earth."

Dusty nodded. "I'm still a bit miffed," she said. "But I'll return to normal and give him a good talking to," she said, teleporting in Kodi's path and reverting to normal.

Lena nodded. She looked around. "Think we're far enough into the woods?"

"Anyway, let's hurry," said Jenna. She made herself look worried and ran out of the woods. "Kaite!" she called.

Kodi ran, and skidded to a stop just before Dusty suddenly appeared in his lone of vision! "Dusty!" he said, standing slowly. "Dusty, it's an odd question, but have you seen Katie around? I-I need to find her, and my kids!"

"Yea, but remember Lena, we want to hide from Momma until nighttime." Tai pointed out. "Even then, we have to lead her to the hill."

Katie was shocked to see her in-laws come bounding out of the brush. "Jenna! Balto! Wh-what's going on? Where are the pups?"

Balto Looked just as concerned as his mate. "Well that's just it! They ran off!" to which Katie was more concerned than the two put together.

"Ran off? Where could they have gone?"

"My, that's terrible," said Shenkin. "Just terrible," he said, though truthfully, he was just irratated.

Jenna nodded. "I think they ran away because of what happened with you and Kodi..." she said, acting worried as she could. She wasn't lying really, the pups had run off for that reason.

Dusty looked at him, still looking angry. "Why? So you can break their hearts again?"

Lena nodded. "Yeah, good point...what should we do until then?"

"This is my fault." Katie said as she paced a moment. "I-I shouldn't have left them alone! I should have been there to comfort them!" she said, ears lowered.

Balto looked at her, serious. "Its not your fault. You were doing the best you could. You're a great mother."

Kodi felt himself burn with shame. He lowered his eyes. "Im awful, I know. I'm the worst father and mate ever. What I did to Katie, to my kids," he looked up at Dusty. "To you, my closest friend, was inexcusable. I never expect you or my family to forgive me, but I just hope you understand that I know I was wrong. Dusty, I am so sorry."

"I don't think there's much we can do." said Tai, looking about at the forest.

Shenkin nodded. "Yes, Little Dove, you didn't do anything wrong, it was than mangy ex-mate of yours for breaking up with you, that's why they ran away after all," he said, trying to make her angry at Kodi.

"Now that doesn't mean it's either of their faults," said Jenna. "Now we need to find the pups."

Dusty sighed. "Well, at least you feel rotton about it," she said. "I might forgive you enventually, but my trust will take a LONG time to earn back, Kodiak."

"I might have an idea," said Lena, finding some mudd and rolling in it. "If we look filthy and dirty, like we've been through a rough time, then it'll make us more believable."

"Now it's my turn to correct you, Badger." said Katie, looking away. Deep down, she truly loved her mate. "It is not Kodi's fault either. At any rate, we need to find my children. They could venture into rival territory, or get hurt." she turned to Balto and Jenna. "Please, Where dd you see them last? The beach?"

Kodi sighed and nodded, ears still lowered. "I don't blaim you. I'll work hard to win your trust back. I just... I'm so sorry." he said pitifully, his whole body sagging.

Kai snickered. "I like your thinking, Lena." he said, rolling in the dirt and mud with his sister.
