"Yeah," Kyler replied, breaking away from Damien's gaze. "They've been fighting alot." She began to feel tears prickle behind her eyes, and she laid her head against Damien's chest so he wouldn't see. "I don't know how much longer they'll last."

Kyler sighed and nodded her head. "I hope so." she said quietly, succeeding in keeping her cool. "At least I know one person who's not going anywhere." she added with a laugh, trying to brighten the mood a bit.

Kyler playfully punched him in the shoulder. "Oh, you know him." she said, playing along. "He's really nice and cute and I've known him for a while." she smiled up at Damien, trying not to laugh at his confusion. "You know him too, I think."

Kyler looked away to hide her inability to hold in her laughs. She continued, "You know, he goes to our school!" She tried to think of other things to say. "He comforts me when I'm sad, and he's always there for me. And I can say he's the best friend that I've ever had." Alright, she thought, he should get it now. But then again, it would be funny to seem him struggle with it.

Kyler looked at him and smiled cunningly. "Perhaps." she said. After a few seconds, she finally said, "Of course it's you! Who did you think I was talking about?"

Kyler laughed. "How could I have two best friends?" she questioned. "Besides, we hang out pretty much every seconds of the school day. If I had anyone else you probably would've known."

Then, Kyler's watch buzzed again, signaling that it was ten minutes after the first buzz. She angrily looked at her watch. "Apparently, it's 5:10." she said frustratedly. She turned the alarm off again, making sure it wouldn't buzz again.
Suddenly, the tree behind the tire swing bent down towards them, and over it slid Ellis, smirking. "Made your decision yet?" he said, cool as a cucumber as he stepped off, snapping the tree upright again.
"What the-" Kyler began, confused. "Impatient much? Didn't we say that we would meet up with you guys later?"
"We get bored." he said, shrugging. "And you guys take too long to decide on things."
