PS - Lighten up. It's a site about a cartoon. Stop taking life so seriously people. Sure, it's just a website, and maybe you don't care, but this site was meant to be a fan site, not sparkle dog source...They have no place here. Some of us DO care.

I'll continue to practice my right as an American to not care AT ALL about Sparkledogs. I mean... the thing is called a "Sparkle" "Dog". How can ANYONE take it seriously? Conversely, how can you be so blasé and dismissive about how strongly people feel about this? Fan artists have always been passionate about what constitutes good art. Your responses sound very discourteous to these people. Fine...you don't think it matters. You cannot understand why people get worked up over this. Do you have to keep saying it in response to recent comments about it? Does it matter to keep on countering their views by repeating what you've already said?

NewYorkBaltoFan wrote: I'm simply trying to lighten the mood around here. People take everything WAY too seriously. You can't be mad at a mod for not caring about Sparkledogs if Steet doesn't care about them. It's our job to make sure the site is run the way he wants it to be run. If the rule changes then I'll gladly enforce the rule (well... I would if I were a fan art mod). "Lightening the mood" by dismissing the seriousness of the feelings the other fan artists, and members, have about this is hardly doing our jobs in accordance with the rules. You may believe you were just lightening the mood, and that's fine. But once again, your posts have generated quite the opposite reaction from these people, and you should recognize that and respond accordingly. Not continue to act like it's other people who ought to lighten up, and that you are only "doing your job". I mean, even some other MODS have expressed dissenting opinions and beliefs about this sparkledog thing. Are they, somehow, NOT doing their jobs or "making sure the site is run the way [steet] wants it"? Seriously, NYBF...

Well, apparently you have proven me wrong as so often happens on this site nowadays. :] Also, there's a difference between making a poor attempt to "lighten the mood" and saying "Lawl, shutup you stupid artists and suck it up!" I'll give you a hint. You're not "ligtening the mood".

Quote: I'm simply trying to lighten the mood around here. People take everything WAY too seriously. THAT is the point. I still don't get it. Don't you have anything more interesting to do? Like, CONTRIBUTING to the site? You're saying that "sparkledogs" should not be allowed on a Balto site (which is a cartoon with red dogs, should I remind some people) and this means you really CARE about Balto...so why aren't you talking about Balto instead?? Again, if you don't like something, then hide it. Imagine you don't like sites about "animal hunting" : does that mean all sites about hunting should be banished from the world wide web, because YOU don't PERSONALLY like them? This is EGOISM to me. I spent countless hours working hard on the new fan characters section (I would estimate around 30 hours of work), TRYING to make most people happy. And now look at some of your answers! THANK YOU SO MUCH. You REALLY are giving me motivation to work even more for YOU. Thankfully, only a handful members are really complaining (and always the same ones. coincidences?) and most people I know are very happy about the recent changes. And yes, I don't like Balto as much as I used to - is that a crime? Haven't I made enough work on the site last year to prove that I still care about maintaining it? How many webmasters have closed their fansites as soon as they moved on to something else, or left the site "as is"? ALL of the fansites I know of. Would you prefer that, then? But rest assured : I will never do that. Because as much as some of you would like to prove the opposite, most people on the site love it. And that's enough motivation to me. I don't care about the few ones that complain : there will always be people complaining, no matter what I do.

Sorry about this Steet, but I really really have to reply to that... Quote: THAT is the point. I still don't get it. Don't you have anything more interesting to do? Like, CONTRIBUTING to the site? You're saying that "sparkledogs" should not be allowed on a Balto site (which is a cartoon with red dogs, should I remind some people)...so why aren't you talking about Balto instead? Are you kidding? You can't go anywhere on BS where there AREN'T sparkledogs. If someone DARES express their distaste it's instantly a case of "SHUT UP IT'S MY CREATIVITY STEET SAID THEY'RE OK SO THERE GO AWAY HATER!!!". I'd LOVE to talk about Balto! JC made a topic I noticed in the Fan Art section that he and Cat made some cartoon-movie versions of the real life 1925 sled dogs and as cool as I think they are I just know they'll be overlooked because they're "boring". Red dogs - Yes! Bright blue things that are somehow meant to be Balto's son - ... see a problem with that? According to your new ruling characters don't need to have a THING to do with the movies any more. 1: Make a stupidly coloured dog 2: Upload it without a story or history 3: ??????? 4: PROFIT! Quote: I spent countless hours working hard on the new fan characters section (I would estimate around 30 hours of work), TRYING to make most people happy. And now look at some of your answers! THANK YOU SO MUCH. You REALLY are giving me motivation to work even more for YOU. Did you even think, before spending 30 hours + working on this, about whether it was best for the site as a whole OR if it was just to shut everyone up? I always thought the point of the AS sites was to be to promote less-loved and underrated animated films. Allowing members to get away with murder =/= a good site. Honestly. Balto Source is a crap-pit of kids and their pathetic abominations and has buggar-all to do with Balto. What is even the point on spending 30+ hours coding when you're not even listening? You can have a site full of tweens with their sparkledogs or you can have a site with members of all ages contributing properly - which would you prefer? Simply sticking a dummy in the mouth of people who moan isn't helping. The only reason TaleSpin Source isn't full of this too is because people from BS are too lazy to learn to draw sparkle-anthros and prefer their ~*MAJESTIC WOLVES*~ and don't even know what TS is (and won't bother to find out because - WOLVES????). Quote: Thankfully, only a handful members are really complaining (and always the same ones. coincidences?) and most people I know are very happy about the recent changes. Yayayayayayay sparkledogs teehee. DEVIANTART WITHOUT THE ADULT PEOPLES!! 8DDD

I TOLD them all that I didn't envy you this constant battle to strike as much of a compromise, and balance, as possible. lol It's a very difficult ship to helm. Then again, I can understand their feelings about an "absentee or indifferent webmaster" (in so many words). They still look to you as a leader, steet. And since it is your site, as monstrous a task as it is, in the end it falls to you to sort out debates, conflicts and rules issues. That is the price one pays for creating a website which has such a large draw...and so varied a membership.
