Aaron wasn't exactly sure what to do other than stand there. Suddenly, though, he got an idea. He inched closer to the shade and when he got close enough, his reptile teeth enlarged, and he snapped at the shadowy figure. Not much happened, though, unfortunately. "What, are you too scared you'll get hurt? Is that why you dissolve into thin air whenever we take a whack at ya?" He began to taunt the Shade himself.

The Shade's mask wrinkled slightly as a result of a grin. "You'd like to think so, wouldn't you, eh, Dragon?" A sandy fist sailed towards Aaron's ribs as the rest of the body began to scatter in an unknown wind.
Lyllii's eyes fluttered as she desperately wracked her brain for a solution. Meanwhile, Kasha's staff severed the detatched fist [from the attack she launched], causing more dust to form.
The specter rose again in an explosion of sand particles sharp enough to cut. "Tag teaming! No fair, though it's still not gonna work," he complained.
A plausible idea finally entered her head. "So brute force won't work, eh?" she murmured. She quickly dodged a hurtled ball of sand, though she still found herself covered in it as it rained down from the site it smashed against. "Maiya," she whispered. "Can you use your magic to weigh down his legs? He won't be able to morph quite so easily without becoming a gloopy mess." Her toe nervously wore a small pit into the dusty floor, but suddenly she stubbed it on something sharp. "Ow!" Good thing I'm wearing boots! she grunted. Lyllii quickly bent down to see what had disrupted her foot. Flint? "Aaron! Try this!" she yelled, tossing the two broken shards towards the were-dragon. Oh, I hope he understands what I mean! Melt him into glass!

Aaron fell to the ground with a hard thud. Geez, I just got knocked down by sand. Never thought that would happen. He got up quickly, brushing all the excess dust off his clothes. He was starting the shade down hard when all of a sudden he heard Lyllii say a simple "Ow". With that followed her throwing a few glass shards his way. He caught them, but one of them cut his skin a bit when it landed in his hand. "Ah, geez. Watch where you throw those things will ya?" He didn't get it at first, but all of a sudden he understood.
When the realization came, Aaron morphed into his dragon self. The color of his hair seemed to get darker and darker until it was the shade of gold. It then became smooth like scales, which spread all over his body. His face elongated, and he grew wings and a tail. His underbelly turned blue like the shirt he wore, and he hissed violently at the shade. "You scared now? Cause you should be!" All that could really be understood were reptilian snarls, but Aaron figured he got the message.
After that, he promptly proceeded to set the guy on fire. He waited until the heat traveled all the way from his belly into his throat. He opened his jaws and out came such a fury of flames that anyone would have stepped back at the sight. Except the flames were heading straight for the one who should have been running the most.
In less than ten minutes the guy was nothing but glass. Only a few specks of dust remained.

Maiya already had a ball of water trembling in her palm, but her concentration failed as Aaron...became a dragon. Ignoring the water dripping from her hand onto the dusty ground, she stared at the immense dragon. And she had believed he was human!
"Aaron?" Maiya asked shakily. "Mind changing back? You're a bit,uh...intimidating." Her cheeks took on a pink tinge as she said that, but it wasn't like she could make her words evaporate, something easily done with water.
Kasha's tail twitched in amusement. She had quickly gotten used to Aaron in dragon form, and found it somehow amusing to see others afraid of him...or intimidated, as Maiya put it.
Sheathing her staff, she examined the molten statue of glass. She touched it hesitantly, and quickly withdrew her finger. The statue felt like it was on fire still. A thought struck her, and she winced; what if he sneezed while a dragon? They would become human, or anthro, bacon.

As Aaron finished burning the Shade into glass, he let a puff of smoke escape his nostrils before returning to his human form. When his appearance changed back, he laughed. "Intimidating, huh?" He looked at her with amusement flowing into his eyes, though, it wasn't the mocking kind. More of the 'I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you' kinda thing. "That's funny. I would've never in a million years used that word to describe myself." He laughed again before continuing. "I guess you learn new things everyday." His lips broke into a grin as he started to walk forward.

Lyllii exhailed a sigh of relief. "Well, THAT was interesting, eh? Anymore excitement and I'll think the Fates are spoiling me, eh?" A forced cracked chuckle sounded from her mouth as she attempted to lighten the mood. "Anyways, the sooner we leave, the better."
She continued to scrape her foot along the ashened cave floor, hoping to unearth a few more "surprises". With luck, a dried root was eventually uncovered. She quickly tore a thin strip of cloth from her leggings, snapped the root in half, and bound the halves together with a piece of twine she found, and one end with the cloth. "Here," she called to Maiya, tossing the crudely made torch. "We'll use this. I'd light it myself, but being woodish..."

Maiya tossed the crude, quickly-made torch to Aaron. "I prefer water, not fire," she explained, her words soft and quick. "I think a were-dragon can light a piece of wood better than someone who can manipulate water," she added, with a hint of a grin.
Kasha chuckled at Lyllii's first statement. "Next thing you know, we'll be fighting a dragon. One who isn't on our side," she added, feline eyes retaining a glint of amusement. With all that had happened recently, it wouldn't really be that surprising. Though it certainly would be one of their more difficult fights.

OOC: Think I've waited long enough, though I'll make my post so that she can jump in again.
BIC: Lyllii shrugged. "Suit yourself." She turned to face Kasha. "Well, we almost did before. Anyone have a chunk of bread I can steal? I'm starving!"
Moderate footsteps sounded towards the rear of the small party, and an aqueous odor wafted briefly in the air. A chunk of slightly stale traveler's bread whizzed through the air; Lyllii caught it cleanly with no second thoughts, but before she crammed it into her mouth she realized it hadn't come from the same angles as her new commrades. She slowly turned around, sheepishly hiding the scrap of food behind her back. Her eyes rested on a young man about their age with dark hair and pale skin. "Sespyn? What are you doing here?"
"Is that the thanks I get? You never change, do you? By the way, you'd better not waste that," grumbled the male water nymph.
"Of course not!" Lyllii spat, already cramming the bread into her mouth. "And I'd wait to recover my energy until we're out of this blasted cave, but there's only diluted mineral water and no natural light," she grumbled between mouthfuls. "You were here the entire time, weren't you? So why didn't you help us out?"
Sespyn's face remained emotionless. "Why would I? It looked like you had it sorted. But I suggest that you keep in mind that the spector was only a long-distance clone of the original, and much weaker than the real thing."
"I don't need you to tell me that..." Lyllii seethed. "Oi! And what gives you the right to critique me?"
The newcomer ignored her as he surveyed the others, eyes resting on Aaron suspitiously for a moment longer than the rest. "I see. Elf, anthro, dragon... She dragged you all into this, didn't she?" he sighed. "Well, I suppose I might as well properly introduce myself. I call myself Sespyn, and I'm a nymph like Lyllii, only I'm water, not wood."
OOC: Lyllii and Sespyn know eachother from another story I'm working on.

OOC: I'm really sorry for not posting for a while. I've been having major writer's block and it doesn't seem to be going away. I'll try my best to keep posting.
Aaron swiftly grabbed the tree root torch that didn't really look much like a torch to begin with. Then again, what made a torch usually required fire. He shaped his lips to make an 'o' as if he were sounding out the vowel in a word. A small growling noise came from the bottom of his throat, and it was evident even from far away. Not too long after, a small flame slipped through the 'o' shape he was making. The root caught on fire easily and Aaron withdrew his breath and the flames. He was about to hand Maiya back the newly lit torch when all of a sudden a newcomer came.
For some reason he didn't like the looks of the guy, and his attitude wasn't helping much either. "Sespyn, huh?" His eyes took a glaring appearance on the male nymph. Anyone could tell from miles away he didn't like the guy.

Kasha hadn't yet sheathed her staff, and she gripped it warily. The recent events had put her on edge, and she fervently wished that they would be left alone for once. Her hand had strayed to her small satchel she carried, and she let it come back to grip the stick of hardened wood. She didn't need to get out the bread now.
Though the anthro didn't like Sespyn - the dirt-thing had, as mentioned before, put her one edge - she allowed herself to relax fractionally, pointing the staff away from his chest. "I'm Kasha," she said slowly, as if the words were being dragged out of her reluctantly.
Maiya smiled. Friendly, if a bit quiet at times, by nature, she was willing to get to know Sespyn. There would be time to judge him later. She took a step closer, holding out her hand in a form of greeting. "Maiya," she said, introducing herself quickly.

Sespyn allowed himself to grin slightly, quickly following Maiya's example, in an effort to break the added tension he brought with him. "A pleasure," he replied awkwardly before returning a firm handshake. "That's a fine staff, Kasha," he said to the anthro pleasently. He felt his facial muscles grow tired from the forced grin.
"You know," said Lyllii grumpily, "you might be more believable if you dropped the 'nice-guy' act; you already presented yourself as a 'cool-guy', not that either one is believable. Also, the 'dragon's' name is Aaron, your new ally if you plan on sticking around."
Sespyn glanced at the wood nymph in the corner of his eye, but remained silent.
"Anyways, I don't know how long you all are planning on loafing around here, but this place is putting me on edge. All in favor in continuing?"

"A fine staff indeed. With a history of breaking the bones of those who irritate me." Kasha flashed Sespyn a sugar-sweet grin that a toddler could've seen through. He seemed sort of arrogant to the anthro, though she could be wrong. Either way, something about him irked her. She was tempted to make another disparaging remark, but stopped herself, pressing her lips together.
Maiya was confused. Why didn't Kasha and Aaron like Sespyn? He seemed nice enough to her. At his comment of continuing, the elf nodded. "Sounds like a good idea to me," she said.

Aaron was glad that Kasha hated Sespyn too. Or at least it seemed like it. He simply nodded at Sespyn's question but then decided he should take a bash at him too. Besides, he didn't even bother to learn Aaron's name. Lyllii had to let him know it. Not that Aaron would have cared if he knew it or not. "Well, can we get a move on then? You're making our pace slow." He gave him a glare and walked ahead of the others, not caring that no one was following. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, walking alone.

"Ouch, Aaron," Lyllii commented, suddenly feeling like she was caught inbetween two alpha males. She exchanged glances with Maiya; perhaps she shouldn't have reacted the way she had earlier. It seemed to have set everyone on another lame foot.
Sespyn grinned slightly, though inwardly he flinched. He knew he wasn't the easiest person to get close to. Neither were they. Until things sorted themselves out, he'd just have to play it by ear. "Sounds like a challenge," he murmured to himself softly. "In that case, why don't I pick up the pace?" he replied, twirling his staff before sprinting on ahead. "And Kasha," he called over his shoulder, "We should spare sometime."
Lyllii groaned to herself. Sespyn, people would like you better if you didn't try so hard, she thought, briefly casting an apologetic glance at Kasha. Seems like my past is finally catching up to me.
