The animated story of Bambi, a young deer hailed as the 'Prince of the Forest' at his birth. As Bambi grows, he makes friends with the other animals of the forest, learns the skills needed to survive, and even finds love. One day, however, the hunters come, and Bambi must learn to be as brave as his father if he is to lead the other deer to safety. Written by Jean-Marc Rocher <[email protected]>

Appealing, Thoughtful Animated Classic, 10 March 2005
Author: Snow Leopard from Ohio

"The characters and story from Walt Disney's adaptation of "Bambi" still hold up as well as they ever did. The animation, likewise, still looks very attractive and detailed. It's understandable if the animation in itself doesn't strike everyone now as being particularly impressive, given the many recent achievements in animation, but in itself it is an excellent job with the resources of its time. It all makes for an appealing and thoughtful classic that is still well worth seeing.

The main characters are well-chosen, especially Bambi himself and the always-engaging Thumper. Some of the best scenes are simply those of the various animal friends playing together – the scene of Thumper and Bambi on the ice being perhaps the most endearing of all. The change of seasons is used to great effect, both aesthetically and in advancing the story and its themes.

It's pretty interesting to contrast "Bambi" with "The Lion King", by no means to decide which is 'better', but rather to take note of the slightly different ways in which they handle some very similar material. Both present the story of a young animal 'prince', the way he explores and learns about his world, and the ways that he must adjust to the tragedies and challenges of adulthood. There are also a number of other interesting similarities. Bambi is at once the more innocent, yet also the more somber of the two.

One very interesting difference is that the greatest threats in "Bambi" come from humans, who are wholly external to the world of the characters, and over whose actions the animals have no control, whereas in "The Lion King" the threats and conflicts are all amongst the animal characters themselves. Both movies deserve to be ranked among the very best animated features of their eras, so there's no need to prefer one over the other – it can just make for even more interesting viewing to notice how these differences help to give each of the two movies its distinctive character.

"Bambi" is the kind of movie that can stick in your mind for many years, especially if you first saw it when young. The characters and many of their adventures make it very appealing, often even adorable, and yet it also portrays some of the most serious (and frightening) things that can happen in the lives of the young. It's a fine movie that accomplishes a lot, and it has held up quite well over the years. "

Already a Work In Progress as well.

General Information: "The Land Before Time is a 1988 American animated film directed and co-produced by Don Bluth (with production based around his Ireland-based studio), and executive-produced by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Originally released by Universal Studios and Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, it features anthropomorphic dinosaurs living in a somewhat fantasy-based version of prehistoric earth. The plot concerns a young Longneck (Apatosaurus) named Littlefoot, voiced by Gabriel Damon, who is orphaned when his mother is killed by a Sharptooth (T-Rex). Littlefoot flees famine and upheaval to search for the "Great Valley", an area which has been spared devastation. On his journey, he meets four young companions: Cera, a Three-Horn (Triceratops); Ducky, a Big Mouth (Saurolophus); Petrie, a Flyer (Pteranodon); and Spike, a Spike-Tail (Stegosaurus).[2] The film explores issues of prejudice between the different species and the hardships they endure in their journey as they are guided by the spirit of Littlefoot's mother. This was the only Don Bluth film in the 80s in which Dom DeLuise did not star.

The film was a critical and financial success and spawned a multi-million dollar franchise with twelve direct-to-video sequels (without association with Bluth, Spielberg, or Lucas) as well as merchandise (toys, video games, etc.) and a television series".

Why should we add it? I don't know why .. but it a very good film and it has lots of different species of dinosaurs and has some history of them , and it has a lot of sequels ^^

I actually think this would be a great idea. While the sequals are still going and well...some people don't like them (though I do), the original is a classic and very well done. The sequals, for a francise with a lot of movies, aren't that bad (for sequals to an animated film, which are normally terrible), they're not as good as the original but are still good.

Why should we add it:

Its a new animated movie that i found pretty well made, not everything in the movie is perfekt, but its a adventures movie for any child that wants a good laugh, it somehow brings the child back to you. there is already loads of fan art pouring in on Deviantart from this movie. and i think that its loads of room for Roleplays and talking about this movie. i think that many can relate to charakters in this movie, and they try to teach your inner child that nothing is impossible, you just need to try!

I believe this was suggested before. But Steet doesn't want to make sites for 3D movies, only 2D.

oh.. okey, i read threw this forum and i found that he would accept in the future, but if you say so.

i found this, so i toke a shot at Alpha & Omega:

"But FOR NOW, I want to restrict to films/series that are closer to the current Source sites. I don't want AS to become a versatile place where there's everything and nothing : I want to give a * direction *.

When AS will be enough popular, and we will have made sites for many films/series in western 2D animation, then I'll open up to other categories of films/series progressively.
Same for 3D films : I'll probably accept them too, but not immediately.
I may even open up for other kind of sites, such as video games..."

Toy Story Source will be the FIRST 3D movie site. Steet is not taking on any more suggestions until we know the outcome from the site.

I still think Land Before Time Source would be a great idea. The original was a classic, and while the sequals got sillier, they aren't awful movies, at least they don't get progressively worse as it goes like most movie series.

Why should we add it?Despite being not being as animal oriented as the other sources I think Treasure Planet will add diversity as you have many more creative things to write/draw/create images about. Treasure Planet is also based off of the very popular book "Treasure Island". Like Spirit it was creating using both 2D and 3D technology. Personally I think the movie deserves more creadit for it creative take on the film and how excellent it came out.

Eh I know there's a very low chance for this one, but it ain't an anime so I think I'll just shoot the idea out there. And if someone decides to make it into a source, I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanna help make the site! This series is like.... like... my RELIGION! XD LOL, just kidding, but seriously, I LOVE it.

Name: Danny Phantom Source
Film or Series: Series
General Information: Danny Fenton/Phantom is a regular fourteen year old kid whose parents happen to be ghost hunters. While making a ghost portal, it doesn't work at first, so Danny decides to check it out. Upon turning the ghost portal on, ghost DNA mixes with Danny's human DNA, making him half human, half ghost. Now, it's his goal to live a normal human life, while juggling a crime fighting ghost life. But his parents, Vlad Masters/Plasmius (Dad's old college pal, now turned Danny's arch enemy), Valerie Gray (girl at school who turned into a ghost hunter), all the other evil ghosts, and any ghost hunter off the street is out for him. But with the help of his friends, Sam and Tucker, and his sister Jazz, he can do almost anything.
Owner/Producing company: Nickelodeon (created by Butch Hartman)
Link to the film/series Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_phantom
Why should we add it?: Danny Phantom is a very original, classic animated series that a lot of people enjoy, and still do, but as it is diminishing more and more from regular T.V, it's becoming less and less known (although I have every single episode recorded back when they used to play them all the time XD). It's not very popular compared to some of Nick's other shows such as Invader Zim and Avatar: the Last Airbender, so I think it needs to spread more so everyone can learn to like it.

Just wanted to bring this up again x3

Name: Top Cat Source
Film or Series: Series
General Information: Top Cat is a 1961 ABC series. T.C. had a total of thirty episodes that you can see today on Boomerang. The plot went around the policeman, Officer Charles "Charlie" Dibble and how he tried to rid Top Cat's gang from the alley. The only reason why Officer Dibble wanted to drive them out from the alley was because they often attempted to earn money through illigal schemes. Top Cat and the gang could easily fool Officer Dibble if they needed or even wanted to.
Owner/Producing Company: Hanna-Barbera Productions.
Why should we add it?: Top Cat is a classic, animated 1960s show that isn't very popular today, and I believe a fansite for it will help bring Top Cat at least a little spunk.

Wikapedia Site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Cat

I looove Top Cat, but I haven't seen it in ages, I'd love to see a fan site for T.C.

Are there going to be Gummi Bears Source or Gargoyles Source pages?

Why they should be added? Gummi Bears is a 1985 animated series that ran from 1985-1991. Gargoyles is a 1994 animated series that ran from 1994-1997. Both are Western animated shows.
