Absolutely. I just think that if we knew Steele's background, it would help us identify possible and fitting partners. Like, someone who may be able to identify with him and help him back to a decent lifestyle. And it would be nice to figure out reasoning behind his personality, like why he hates Balto. For example, what if Steele's parents were killed by a pack of wolves? It could explain his currently unexplained hatred for Balto.

Maybe, but the trouble with the idea of someone bringing him back to a decent lifestyle is that dating to change someone hardly ever works, if it does at all. I should know.

cat --> Note I said hardly. I'll allow that it's possible, but the best I've ever seen come of it was a stalemate. I have never seen someone succeed in changing a person for the better by dating them. Just the opposite.

That makes a lot of sense, now that you point it out. I'd seen the connection to racism, but I never really noticed the correlation between Balto and other Spielberg movies in that regard.

That's a good point. On the other hand, Scar was a major leader, if a usurper. Steele was more of a celebrity. And, as you pointed out, Steele rated a lot higher on the badness scale.

Did I say that? Steele couldn't make the ground move through song. Not only that but Scar had enough power to throw off the balance of nature.

Besides Steele /was/ a leader, he was popular anyway, which in this country says alot xD Often times celebrities have more followers than important leaders, no matter what they do wrong.

And yeah, I guess you're right. On the other hand, very few people, even celebrities, can get away with hurting a kid. Even in prisons full of killers and the like, that's regarded as so heinous that those convicted of crimes against minors are often put in solitary for their own survival.

But when it comes to killing that of a /different species/ its thought of very differently.

True, but one gets the impression that the dogs considered humans a higher species (which, on the most literal level at least, we are), and therefore more valuable than themselves. At any rate, they were willing to put themselves at risk for the humans. So in that regard, one might make the anaolgy of it being considered worse when a civilian is shot and killed to when the same happens to a soldier. Both are tragic, to be sure, and it would be rather contemptible to say that a soldier's life is worth less than that of an average Joe on the street or vice-versa. But people rarely hold as much anger towards someone who shoots an enemy soldier on the battlefield as they do to a person who shoots civilians minding their own business.
If the analogy seems to be getting off-track, let me just reiterate this: the dogs were, in a practical sense, living to serve the humans in one sense or another, and in Steele's position he should have been more so than most. So not only was he guilty of nearly killing great numbers of people, but of a sort of treason as well.
Again, this does not make him worse than Scar since, realistically, Scar had tried to have his own nephew murdered and was ready to let his own kind starve for the sake of their mortal enemies. So the question becomes not who was worse, but who had the worse followers? Did Steele have followers who would willingly embrace evil as Scar's did? And would Steele have been inspirational enough as a leader to master such a vile crew?
And of course we are ignoring the main matter: who would date Steele? I think it all boils down to nobody in the established set of characters. If you want to come up with an OC wicked enough to embrace a killer (or, as in the case of my and redwolf03's character Tasha, was willing to believe she could change him), then be my guest. And if you want it to be someone who was just weak enough to refuse to say no to him, I won't stand in the way either (there are plenty of people nastier than me to do that anyway).

Either way, even the crazies have their fans. And Steele isn't even the baddest of the bad xD

But to put it back on the original topic, the way I see it there are four basic possibilities if Steele were to have a girlfriend.
1) Someone wicked enough to actually like an almost-child-killer.
2) Someone he could fool into thinking he was innocent.
3) Someone who thought she could change him.
4) Someome too weak-willed to reject him.
