Bethany's jaw clenched at the mention of pregnancy, but she remained cooled. She stirred the carrots then went back to the ice-box, popping out some pre-made biscuits and setting them on a pan to raise in the oven. She popped them in the oven, then finally turned to face Nate.
"Hmm.." She said, pretending to be interested. "Maybe it was the sushi last night..You know how raw fish can make someone feel." She said indifferently.

'That's what I was thinking to." Nate replied with a nod and a smile. He hoped that's what it was. Sure: sushi, raw fish. That's what's wrong. He smiled and kissed her forehead "Yeah, that's probablly it."

Bethany nodded, turning back to the food, but everything was cooking, they'd have to talk. Bethany couldn't keep secrets, she was so bad at it. The guilt would eat away at her until she went insane, but this secret, how long could she keep it? She'd need to find out how Nate would react.
"...Wouldn't it be weird if I were pregnant though? Like, it wouldn't happen...Cuz we use protection...But wouldn't that be something.." She chuckled once, looking at the ground, then looking back up at him with a smile.

"hmm.." Nate walked to the fridge and got a bottle of soda. Was she implying to him that she was pregnant...? He had seen that test... He had never thought about having kids... Did he even want kids? "Well, I dunno... Wouldn't really be that weird. It happens all the time, protection fails." He replied with a carefree shrug.

"Yeah. Well... Good thing I'm not." She lied, taking the chicken out of the pantry with shrug.

Nate didn't say anymore, he just carefully started to drink his soda. Nate tried to convince himself that he didn't want kids... But maybe he did want kids... Being an orphan and all... Was it possible that he wanted kids, maybe just to prove something.

Bethany prepared the plates, but she made far too much. This was okay though, Bethany usually purposefully did that, so they'd have leftovers until that meal ran out and she'd make another large meal. She handed Nate a plate and went to go sit.

Nate was tempted to ask about the test, but he didnt he just followed quetly, grabbing her a drink as well, then sitting down and smileing: "Looks good."

"Thanks," Beth said, beginning to eat.

All through dinner Nate remined almost silent. By the time they had finished it was late. Nate helped her with the dishes then went off to the bed room. Putting on his pajama pants and taking off his shirt: thinking about Beth and that test

After the better part of a half hour, Bethany decided to hear up stairs. She got off of the couch and climbed each stair slowly, her feet hardly making a sound. She entered their room to see Nate stretched out on the bed, his face lost in thought. Beth walked over to the closet and wiggled into a tank top and a pair of Nate's boxers. She walked over to the bed, sitting in the plush mattress and frowning.
"Nate.. We need to talk.." she mumbled

Nate blinked, sitting up slowly to look at her. He already had feeling of what this was about. He hadn't fully thought it over, he just knew it was aiming to happen. So without really thinking, he placed a comforting hand on her leg and asked "You okay?"

"I hope so." she muttered, placing her hand over his and tracing her thumb along the planes of his rough, yet soft, hands. She looked up at him, her eyes calculating, her lips taught. She knew the next thing she had to say, but she couldn't force it out. The words rolled over in her head, again and again, like an echo in her heart. She remembered the last time she'd told someone she was pregnant. Nick, she remembered it all too well. He had sat up quickly in his chair, standing with such force that the lightly used dinning table chair had scattered back and tipped to the floor. He'd rushed at her, and Beth remembered thinking he was doing so to embrace her, but she was so wrong. He'd hurt her, really bad. So bad that she still ha the mental and physical scars.
Bethany shook her head at the memory, Nate wasn't like that. But Bethany knew for a fact that Nate didn't want kids. She didn't want to be alone. No.
Her eyes, now fearful, met his.
"I'm..." she hesitated, "I'm pregnant." she muttered."please don't leave me.." she squeaked, looking at their laced hands.

Even though he knew it was going to happen, he knew that's what she was going to say: his mind went blank. He didn't want kids. Or maybe he just didn't want them yet.. but what could he do? The thought of leaving Beth hadn't crossed his mind, it never would. He didn't look at her, even acknowledge their hands. He just rubbed the back of his neck, until she sqeaked. He then looked at her, raising his brow. "What?" Was the only reply he could think of for her plea for him to not leave her.

"Don't leave me.. Please.." she repeated, closing her eyes tightly. She couldn't be alone, she couldn't have no one.
