Nick looked at her curiously from the corner of his eyes. He nodded slowly, finally. "Yeah... A-and... That's why I-" he could bear to finish, he just swallowed hard. "I didn't mean to hurt you...or scare you.."

Bethany frowned, looking at how nervous he was acting, "It was fine, Nick. I didn't care. It didn't even hurt that much.." She said softly, giving his hand a squeeze.

Nick had a feeling that was a lie but he nodded slowly, looking at her hand when she sqeezed his. He chuckled and laced his scarred fingers through hers. "Alright Kid, what's the deal? You wanna be a psychologist or something?" He teased.

Bethany shrugged, looking at the ceiling, "The brain is pretty cool.." She mused, that was exactly what she wanted to be. She wanted to help people, make a difference in somone's life.

"You'd be good at it." He said, standing quickly, he stretched out again then sighed "You hungry?"

Bethany nodded enthusiastically, "Starving." she said with a small smile.

"Alright..." He nodded, standing and hurrying off into the kitchen. He left the picture drawer slightly open, it was just filled with a few more photos, some love letters, and nick's dogtags.

Bethany caught sight of the drawer, she looked into the kitchen, seeing as Nick was preoccupied. Bethany went to the drawer and gingerly shuffled though it. She didn't want to be nosy, but she was curious. She picked up a love letter, the paper was wrinkled, Nick obviously read it a lot. She read through it, feeling sadder and sadder with each paragraph. Bethany placed the paper back inside the drawer then took out the dogtags. She looked at them, running her thumb over the smooth surface, before remembering she still had Nate's dogtags. Her hand flew to the metal around her neck and she winced, feeling the similarities. However, Nick's was burned on one side, probably from the grenade. Nate's where smooth and unscathed, not a scratch on them.

Nick happened to glance over his shoulder, from what he was doing, cooking bacon and waffles. He saw her fiddling through the drawer.

Nick would've snapped at anyone else who dared to go through that drawer: but not Beth. He remained quiet and just watched her while she held his dog tags.

Bethany put the tags back and shut the drawer, then walked into the kitchen. She looked over his shoulder, smiling a bit.
"Looks good." she said.

"Glad you think so!" Nick laughed "I'm no cook." He replied, flipping the sizzling bacon in it's little pan. Nick had never had the ability to cook, it had always been Khalid who had done that kind of thing. But fortunately, he could cook, so neither would have to suffer through a breakfast.

Bethany sat herself on the counter, sitting next to the stove where Nick was frying the bacon. She looked at him, studying his face with an intense type of interest. She'd always kind of liked Nick. When he started working for her dad, she was 14. She remembered having the biggest crush on him. But then realized that he'd never want to go out with someone that young and decided it'd be best to not like him. She was 18 now, maybe he did like her.
"I've always liked you...you know." She said, tapping her lower lips with her index finger and smiling a bit.

His blue eyes came up quickly, he looked at her curiously. Finally a grin came to his face and he cocked an eye brow. "Really? Like, even when you where little... How old where you...twelve?" He teased. He had somewhat had a crush on the teen girl as well and there wasn't much of an age difference.

"14!" She corrected, laughing a bit. Bethany rolled her eyes and looked at the floor. "And yeah. A bit. But then I remembered that you wouldn't like me, so I stopped thinking about it so often." She said sheepishly.

"hmm..." Nick grinned "Well..." He took the bacon from the skillet and waffles from the maker, and put them on two seperate plates. "...I've liked you for a couple of years... Hmm... After we went riding for your fifteenth birthday, he replied.
