Don't believe i've commented on this topic before, but even if I did... Initially, I believed this TV series would be pointless and just take away from the movies, but it really does add to it, and the animation - though somewhat rougher than the movies, of course - is virtually the same. That coupled with the same voice actors and it's just a great series in general! I was pleasantly surprised by it. If nothing else, it's a good distraction until the sequel appears in 2014.

(Fluffy needs a censor) But i thought the same thing moki at first, until i watched about 4 episodes. They really do a good job at developing the characters further, and going into more detail with the dragons and the vikings. I hope they include some if the movie, and not make the movie separate from the show.

I know you guys are going to think I'm weird for this, but, I'm not a fan of the series anymore. o_o I just saw HTTYD for the 14th time in my life (I watched it two times today, one regular, one with the commentary), and I don't think it lives up to the movie as well as I thought. I'll still watch it, but seeing a movie 14 times all the way through really makes you think differently.
My Reasons: 1) The relationship between Hiccup and Toothless in the tv series isn't nearly as strong as their relationship in the movie 2) The relationship between Astrid and Hiccup isn't as strong as in the movie 3) The relationship between Stoick and Hiccup isn't as strong as in the movie either. 4) It's not as heart-warming or loving as the movie. It won't make you cry like the film either

^ I think you could sup up 1-3 with "doesn't stay in character/no character development". Which is basically what I've been saying since the first episode I watched. xD

The character relationships are changed a little bit. Hiccup and toothless may be attributed to the fact that they are more of a team now than relying on each other for their life like they did in the movie. I mean, toothless needed hiccup because he could fly away or defend himself from the vikings, and hiccup was in danger of being kicked out if the tribe or whatever. And hiccup and astrids relationship probably changed because hiccup isnt 'the hero' anymore, so the relationship isnt as intense between them. As for stoics relationship with hiccup, normally in kids cartoons the children dot things separately from their parents, because who wants to watch a show where the main characters always have to do chores and ask their parents permission and stuff? As for being warming or loving, the episodes are only 30 min long, and there isnt really a plot that transgresses the episodes. So of course its not as heart felt, because there isnt enough time to create the emotions while still making it action packed. And kids are going to enjoy the action way more than the emotional scenes, which is the shows main audience. I agree that the show isn't like the movie, but it makes sense. I don't think its necessarily a bad show, it just doesn't have 'all that' like the movie does. I like watching the show, but i don't feel a connection like i do with the movie.

I. LOVED. That. Episode!!!!!!! Breakneck Bog was soooooo sweet! I still don't like the series, but that episode was an exception!
I loved how Astrid whacked Snotlout with a bone hand.... over and over! Lol! Me and my friend who watched it were cracking up laughing! And I literally shed a few tears at the end from when Stoick said "Open it" to the last lines Hiccup said. I'm so glad they mentioned the mother! I've never cried over anything (Trust me. anything) in my life except two things: HTTYD and the end of this episode. When Trader Yohon (I know I spelt that wrong) said it was from Hiccup's mother, I almost burst out in tears!
