With that Heather caught the bus back to her apartment.

Atticus went back to his up-town NYC apartment. He went straight to bed but smiled when he glanced at the number written on his hand before going to sleep.

Heater stayed up a while more, mostly to check the news. But nothing outrageous had happened, so she clicked off the TV and fell asleep on the couch.

The next morning Atticus awoke to his dog, Scout whimpering for breakfast. He got up and put on some PJ bottoms and a t-shirt then he went and got the dog food.

Heather woke up with a start, she'd been dreaming that same nightmare that she could never remember. Her pale hand met her forehead and she groaned, then traced her hand around her neck where a purple bruise now shined. Heather winced at the dulled pain and got up to go make herself breakfast. Her cat, Jasper, walked across her feet and mewed. Heather picked him up stroked him a few times, before putting him down and making her way to the kitchen.

Atticus sat down on the couch and looked at the number written on his hand. Should he really call her? Did she even like him? So she had laughed and stuff, that might've been fake. He thought a few minutes longer on the matter.

Heather poured herself a bowl of Captin' Crunch and began eating while watching the news.

Atticus picked up the phone and dialed her number, hoping she could come over later.

Heather looked at her phone and watched the screen for a second. It was a number she didn't know. With a dragging sigh, Heather answered the phone.

"Hello?" She asked, picking up Jasper and feeding him a paice of Capin' Crunch.

"Heather?" Atticus asked, he was bad at recognizing voices over the phone.

"This is she." Heather said in a high-pitched voice that she used when she didn't know who she was talking to on the phone. "Who's this?" She asked, "Ow! Jasper don't do that! That hurts me." Heater complained when Jasper scratched her hand, begging for attention.

"Atticus, Atticus Soprano..." he replied, blinking when he heard her scold Jasper, he wasn't sure who she was talking to.

Japer continued to scratch her so she tossed him off her lap and scolded him further "Bad kitty! Go kill a bird, or somethin'...Go be a real cat!" She demanded to the cat that sulked away.

"Atticus? Oh hi! What's up?" She asked, walking to her room and putting on a clean shirt.

"Nothing at the moment, I have to go... finish some business. But um... I was wondering if you think you could come over later?' he asked.

Heather mulled this over for a moment. Did she really want to go to his house? Did she even like her? She sighed, then looked at Jasper who had returned. The cat swiched his silver tail over his paws and blinked at her, his pale grey eyes wanting attention.

"What do you think Jasper?" She asked, looking down at the cat who mewed and jumped on her lap. "Yeah, I'll come over. I have something in a bit, so I'll meet at your house at around...4:30? I kinda' want to watch a movie. I'll pick one up while I', out, you won't be dissapointed." Heather said, looking at her un-painted nails and frowning. She needed a mani-cure, ASAP.
