Lawl, I live in Pennsylvania, dude. I see oak trees, maple trees, chestnut trees, birch trees, willow trees, walnut trees (hate those), cherry trees, hemlock trees, honey locust trees, THE. LARCH., tulip tree, hickory-nut tree, couple types of pines and other needle leaf trees (white, blue spruce, etc), black ash trees, hawthorn trees, dogwood trees, catalpa trees, (...I think you see my point xD) BUT, nope. Never any "Joshua Trees". Must be native to desert-like regions.

And that last pic reminds me... I should try to get to a graveyard sometime and take some shots. I love tombstone pics (trust me, I have weirder interests).

I can't resist abusing my camera phone during fall with the gorgeous colors. ^^

And your pics are great too! I love the first one. And the squirrel comment made me lawl. xD

I think that just may be a matter of perspective and the angle of the shot. Unless I'm mistaken. But I don't think I am.

Weeeeell thank you!

As to the first one, well, Australian Shepherds are just that gosh-darned awesome! Of course, I admit to more than just a bit of bias in that regard. lol

Actually, in the case of the photo of the squirrel, it was interesting just how willing the squirrel was to stand his (her?) ground. lol It was playing with the stick actually...and eventually carried it off. But I found it particularly interesting how the little bugger grabbed onto the thing and then decided to momentarily stop and watch me out of the corner of its eye. The squirrels down here in southeastern VA are a bit more...shall we say "brazen", compared to squirrels I've seen in many other places (such as in southern NJ where I used to live, even though they abounded in greater numbers there).

Agreed! Another successful array of photos from Paxis! I like the fire one too, and the one of the bushes. The one of the rushes reflected in the lake would have even been better, however, if you showed the rushes themselves equally...such reflection pictures are great when they show both the subject and its reflection in equal contrast.

Ah, that's why I was kinda bothered by that photo! Makes sense. Thanks for the tip!

I finally found it! I love photographing wildfires but this one was very interesting. I took this one of a terrifying fire in November 2008

Good Lord -- you got stars! I am going to have to look into this camera you're using. Mine is terrible for night photography, in spite of what it's settings are and in spite of what the manufacturer claims (it's a Sony Cybershot 12.1 megapixel I purchased in 2008 for my Alaska trip which, admittedly, has seen better days).

No problem! You are a very good photographer though, Paxis, so I am sure you'll work that out in due course. 8)

I looked into the camera he's using (or, perhaps more accurately, the one he's comparing his to with that photograph on the previous page). A good model, even if it is about five years old (and if it is a different camera, it would sure be nice to have Alkan look into its manufacturer and model number, and report back to us). There have been newer models in the line since, and I anticipate going out and buying one soon. I want stars, dang it!

They seem to average about $130.00 to $160.00 new. Which I expected. And the high-speed versions are about $70.00 to $120.00, on average, higher. That might take a bit more saving. Heh heh. But those seem to be VERY nice cameras.

Eeyeah...time for me to ditch the Sony Cybershot (which I paid nearly $130.00 for new back in 2008 anyway...or around that. If memory serves).

I also agree at how awesome it is you managed to capture stars, Alkan! I've always wanted to be able to take pictures of the night sky. Some day.. some day. =P For now I just settle with the moon when it shows during the day at a distance.

With all these desert pics that Alkan is showing us, I keep expecting to see cowboys, vaqueros and Apaches pop their heads up out of those rocks. ROFLMAO

I've only ever been in Seattle out west, and then only on my way somewhere else...a brief stopover at the Seattle-Tacoma airport. Never even got out to see anything. In fact, I've never been out further, on the ground, in the "lower 48" than Texas, Tennessee and Kentucky. Though I have been to both Hawaii and Alaska. But I have long-term plans to sally forth and see the grand old west (will probably avoid southern California. Northern California--AWAY from San Francisco and any city--calls to me. As do Oregon, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, Washington, Montana and Idaho...and maybe some parts of Arizona).

This is one of the few pics of a star i could take. Actually this was with a very high defined camera that my Uncle Greg let me use. (This was used with a very different camera. Not the one i have now. This was a digital camera that lets you control the exposure and focus settings manually. )Thanks for liking :)

A 150 year old head stone~!

PS: Jersey, you have amazing skills at photography! I love the Firework, wolf, and cloud pictures! You have a real talent at it!

Mighty, your work is astonishing as well! I love your Christmas lights!

I live only 30 miles from this location,(as the crow files), but I live in a well forested area. I usually take pics around here when I'm camping with my family.

Why thank you. 8) If I manage to get a real camera, I might be able to do some even better work. I've improved my career situation lately, so that might be a distinct possibility now. For the last four years, it was quite impossible. (And now that I think on it, my camera is actually a Nikon Coolpix like Mighty's...not a Sony Cybershot. My bad there. But I still very much need a new one.)

Hmm...I guess I may have to look into one of those real fine fancy-schmancy expensive digital SLRs then. Ugh. But if one wants to take good pics, one must bite the proverbial bullet and take the plunge.
