You have the ability now to ignore them if you don't like them. Why is it that important to you to remove them from the site even if you know that with the new features, you'll never be forced to look at one anyway? It seems to me like people either want to start drama or are just looking for something to complain about.
Example... I don't like Role Playing, I think it's stupid. Do I whine and complain about those sections of the site because I don't like them? No. I just don't go into them.
Seems simple enough to me. Thank you! I feel the exact same way (besides the roleplaying XD I love roleplaying) and honestly, not all sparkledogs are bad and "abominations to the site." Now, all you haters, don't go all "So if a pink and blue rhino with orange sneakers was Balto's daughter you would accept it?!?!" on me. I never said that. I think if it's not too over-the-top, and shows that a good amount of work was put into the character's history, personality, family, Balto relation and role, but maybe had an unnatural color here and there, I would accept it. That's what I think. *sigh* Now here come the members who just get joy out of hating on my opinions! *takes out popcorn* On the complete contrary,I'm a veteran member, and I like your idea of not liking Sparkle Dogs.^^

*sigh* Now here come the members who just get joy out of hating on my opinions! *takes out popcorn* "Haters". Jeez, I am surprised it took this long for that little overused and highly-inaccurate term to be applied to this situation. Not seeing it. Nope. I guess I must be the first "hater" of your opinion then, because I contradicted it. Go ahead and start up the Jiffy Pop. lol

Fan characters and sparkle dogs are two totally different things. A fan character is a character created by someone and that character HAS to fit somewhere in the Balto universe and HAS to be related to a character OF the Balto universe. Their colors have to be realistic like real life dogs not some nonsense like pink or green or anything unrealistic like that. It's that simple and those who can't be creative without being realistic have no business being part. As it is said, 'That's what DA is for'

The problem with having to has a Balto Relation, is that many people ( I'm guilty) will just write "lives in Nome" or "friend of Jenna's" and it gets accepted, because it sort of is a small relation to the Balto Unverse.
It keeps being said and I'm going to repeat it; We. Need. More. Limits. The character rules should be stricter.
By that brings up another issue...
Steet doesn't want to deal with this problem, we will have to find another way to solve it.

If this is what is going to happen, I won't be contributing fan works on here anymore. I will put my stuff on dA where it is more suitable for it to be (oh how ironic!). I'll post from time to time and help out on things but this is ridiculous. Woooops, I meant this more towards how characters don't even have to be related to the movie. And if these kids get all butthurt about it, they shouldn't use the Internet. Because, my dear RJ, on THIS site, whenever you express a dissenting opinion, debate or argument, so long as it is not couched in petty attacks, flame baiting or trolling, it is nevertheless still viewed as that. We are not allowed to opine unless it is entirely positive, congratulatory, and doesn't "rock the boat" of those who hold all the cards. And I even say this as a staffer (who doesn't play that game, regardless of what some other staffers may think of that view). It's a shame, but it is that. As I have said, I don't envy steet this constant tug of war. While I too am frustrated by how he has withdrawn so much from the rest of the site, and ensconced himself in TaleSpin Source, I can appreciate how, on a site with so many members of so many varying opinions, social, racial and national backgrounds, upbringings, etc., there is just NO pleasing some people, and trying just gets too darned infuriating. It drains your spirit and your desire to continue. I am sure steet would believe himself to have been brown-beaten and criticized to death...and that can sap the spirit and motivation of almost anyone. In THAT respect, I totally sympathize with him.

Yes, I think ED have hit the nail on the head here and the truth does sting, doesn't it? It embarrasses me that I used to be and still am part of this site. I have technically stopped coming on here except to laugh a bit at how Steet has allowed it to become DA's lovechild. If he cared for his friends and staff members, he would never have given into the demands of a bunch of spoiled sparklebrats.
What Cat and Tibb say is 100% right. Colouring in dog lineart with colours that can blind you in the dark is NOT abstract, that's like saying your first work on MS Paint could be up in the Tate or any other gallery in the world, it is the 'work' of a child who does not yet know the concept of colour or how to use Photoshop. I know we are now in a society where 11-year-olds can apparently join social networking sites regardless of what could happen (Jessi Slaughter, anyone?) but should we really overlook the older population just to play babysitter and respect them the same way we would respect a teenager or an adult? No, we should not, because they are CHILDREN. My personal feelings about children aside, AS should not be held as compromise just because they got trolled or butthurt on DA for some reason.

It's imply the fact no one manages to express a differing opinion without making it a "U SUK AND I AM RIGHT" statement. That does happen a lot, yes. Just as it DOES happen that, when someone tries to simply say something dissenting or contrary, and doesn't load up their posts with freaking smileys and "oh, but really, I mean nothing personal you know; PLEASE forgive me!", the invariable result is a knee-jerk reaction that the dissenter or contrary opinion is "flaming" and "trolling", and you KNOW it, UK. Just as you know that even staffers are guilty of completely and TOTALLY misinterpreting some posts and shoutbox statements in the very same way. To deny that is foolish.

I'm not even on here that much anymore because I feel like if the site's own admin has no heart for the site aside from his own interests (hence why TSS is lovingly cared for and BS is just left to rot) then why should the userbase care? I've been dissatisfied with the site dumbing down things like every user here is a child. You can't just screw your older userbase for the sake of babysitting a bunch of kids. And why keep making new sites when some of the other ones are not only poorly managed but barely used? Too many cooks spoil the broth and all that jazz.

Steet did what he could, and that's that.
