Sorry if this seems a little off-topic (though I don't think it is), but let's start with two very well-known sites, and then show you some other lists of relevance (this, by nature of its design as a TV series, cannot include TaleSpin, which never appeared in movie theaters - the same applying to the All Dogs Go To Heaven spin-off TV series...nor the Balto sequels, nor The Lion King sequels, nor Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure, nor The Secret of N.I.M.H. 2: Timmy To The Rescue**, which were all direct-to-video releases): (see asterisk notes at the bottom of this post...)- On Internet Movie Database's "Best/Worst 'Animation' Titles", on the top 50 list, The Lion King* appears at #8: http://www.imdb.com/chart/animation
- On Rotten Tomatoes' "Best (50) Animated Films", The Lion King* appears at #26, Lady and the Tramp at #38: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/guides/best_animated_films/
- In this list of "top ten most popular animated movies", The Lion King* is #1: http://techblogbiz.blogspot.com/2006/09/top-ten-animated-movies.html
- In this list of "top 100 animated movies of all time", The Lion King* made #5, The Secret of N.I.M.H.** made #56, Lady and the Tramp made #58, All Dogs Go To Heaven made #87, and Robin Hood** made #99. On that same page, a sub-list for "the best ten movies of '09" listed The Princess and the Frog as #3: http://digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/movie-pages/movie_animation.html
- In this list of "top 25 animated movies of all time", once again, The Lion King* appears (as #17), and Toy Story 3** as #13: http://movies.ign.com/articles/650/650717p1.html
- In this list of "best 25 animated movies of all time", Lady and the Tramp is #22 and, once AGAIN, The Lion King* appears...this time at #2: http://blog.moviefone.com/2008/06/02/best-animated-movies/
- On The Movie Blog's "10 Best Animated Films of All Time"...yep, you guessed it, The Lion King* appears...THIS time (and again) at #1: http://www.themovieblog.com/2008/10/the-movie-blogs-10-best-animated-films-of-all-time
Seems to me that at least The Lion King rates pretty high...and fairly consistently; Lady and the Tramp at least moderately so. Now, this doesn't say much, unfortunately, for Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Brother Bear** (or its direct-to-video sequel), or Cats Don't Dance**, which didn't make any of the lists I found. Nor for The Princess and the Frog, which didn't make any "all time" list that I saw. But again, these are based upon monetary determinations, not abiding popularity among fans. It is telling that, of ALL the movies and television series added to (or pending to be added to) the Animation Source list, only Balto and The Secret of N.I.M.H.** have demonstrated a healthy and long-lasting internet-centralized fan base, with more fan sites in their honor than all the rest combined (feel free to check it if you feel up to that)...even if some of them have fallen into total or near-total inactivity. And all this in spite of the Balto movies' alleged "unpopularity". Maybe steet did say that about the movies included on AS...or perhaps he intended it. But with respect to him, these lists and the other evidence I have provided demonstrate that most of the movies (at least the originals) are hardly "unpopular". *According to this list: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/genres/chart/?id=animation.htm, The Lion King is the fourth highest-grossing animated film of all time in terms of monetary profits, at $328.5 million at the time the list was made (at least in late 2009). Comparatively, Balto still managed to pull in $11,268,750.00 in box office receipts (according to Internet Movie Database), which isn't bad considering how poorly Universal Studios marketed the movie. Which may also explain (in terms of bad marketing) why the movie didn't make any of the above lists (or others). Most of these lists are determined by U.S. and international box office receipts and DVD/VHS retail sales.
**These are sites in development on Animation SourceEpic post by the way. I didn't mention that before.

Wölf Päws wrote: My suggestion, a Sonic Source. Sonic X, baby! And the shows, games, and comics made him neck and neck with Mario, if not higher. Name: Sonic X (other shows include Sonic the Hegehog, or Sonic SatAM, and the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, or AoStH.) Film or Series: Series General Information: Main character is a fun loving, fast talking, speedy blue hedgehog named Sonic, and in Sonic X, him and his pals are sent to Earth by an explosion from a laboratory owned by Dr. Eggman, Sonic's nemesis. Eggman tries to create the Eggman empire there, but can't without the Chaos Emeralds (there are seven). Sonic and his friends Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Cream, Cheese, Big the Cat and eventually Shadow, Rouge and the Chaotix (Vector, Espio and Charmy), are trying to lead a heroic life while still keeping Eggman in line and trying to find a way back to their home planet. When they first get there, Sonic falls in a pool of a human boy, Chris, and Chris lets Sonic and his friends stay at his house with his butler, Tanaka, and the cook, Ella. Owner/Producing company: SEGA/Sonic Team (If Possible) Link to the film/series Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_XWhy should we add it? It'll be a change from the usual Disney/Universal thing, and it will be a break from the usual, american animation style. Sonic X can be called an anime, which I know many AS users are interested in. This show definitely has an original plot, very interesting and very different than any other Sources we have on here. The character drawing style is also very different, and it will give those anime artists a chance to show their stuff as well! I know you said, steet, to stay away from anime suggestions, but I had to post this one. I like Paws's suggestion. A Sonic Source would be really good, I know a lot of people in my school who like Sonic X, Sonic SatAM, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Underground..Almost all of the Sonic cartoons So, I could tell them about AS...Though, I don't think there's one person I haven't told about AS XD Name: The Emperor's New Groove Source Film or Series: Film Company: Disney General Information: The Emperor's New Groove is a Disney animated film about a young, self-centered emperor named Kuzco. He calls Pacha, headman of a village near by, in to tell him that his village will be demolished to make room for 'Kuzco Topia', a theme park sort of thing that he wants built for his birthday. Pacha doesn't like this idea and makes an attempt to refuse, only to be kicked out by the guards. He returns to his village to bring the bad news to his family. Meanwhile the villian, Yzma, and her assistant, Kronk, make plans to poison Kuzco so that Yzma can become Emperess and get revenge for being fired while she's at it. They invite Kuzco to a 'friendly' dinner, but instead of using poison they accidentally use a transforming potion that turns him into a llama. They knock him out and Kronk attempts to dispose of Kuzco, but finds he cannot do it. The sack holding Kuzco ends up on Pacha's wagon and Kronk desperately tries to get it back but he loses Pacha in the crowd. Pacha unknowingly takes the llama Kuzco back to his village, and there Kuzco wakes up and sees himself as a llama. He blames Pacha for it, and goes off on his own into the woods. There, he is chased and cornered by a group of Jaguars and he is saved by Pacha. This is where the journey begins. Yzma spreads the word that Kuzco is dead, and becomes Emperess. She soon discovers, though, that Kronk didn't kill Kuzco and they both set off to find him and finish the job they started. Pacha agrees that he will get Kuzco to the palace and change him back. When they arrive at the lab, a fight with Yzma begins. But of course, the good guys win and Kuzco drinks the potion that will turn him back into a human again. With Yzma out of the way, and no longer a threat (she's turned into a kitten) Kuzco resumes his position as Emperor. He is friends with Pacha and his family, and no longer wishes to destroy their village, so he finds another hill to build Kuzco Topia. Happy ending, as always with Disney movies. Link to the film/series Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor's_New_GrooveWhy should we add it?: I believe that The Emperor's New Groove is a good movie that teaches young audiences that being self-centered and spoiled isn't everything. You don't have everything if you don't have any friends to share your wealth with. I think it would be a good addition to AS, because a lot of people like Emperors New Groove...That, and I like llamas XD

I have one; Name: The Jungle Book Source Film or Series: Film Company: Disney General Information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jungle_Book_(1967_film) Mowgli was a young baby when he was left in the jungle. A blank panther named Bagheera finds him and takes him to an Indian wolf who had just had pups and she raises him. 10 years later, the wolves find out that Shere Khan is back and they must bring Mowgli to the "Man village" to protect him. Bagheera volunteers to take him back but Mowgli does not want to leave. Later on, they run into a bear named Baloo and Mowgli begins to like him. After running into a few funny and suspenseful situations, Mowgli and Baloo have a fight and Mowgli runs away. He meets a group of vultures and together, they help defeat Shere Khan after a close call with one of his friends. Why should we add it: I think that it was a cute movie, and why not? There is even a second movie on the Jungle Book and since so many new sources are being made, why not have a jungle book source? It was a success, earning $13 million in just its domestic release, mostly due to the popularity of its musical numbers and it was released in October, 1967. It was also released a few months after Walt's death. The film received an Academy Award nomination in 1967 and Best Song for "The Bare Necessities". And I've just discovered that there's been a video game made; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jungle ... video_game)

Name:Bambi Source Film,or Series: Film General information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BambiThe animated story of Bambi, a young deer hailed as the 'Prince of the Forest' at his birth. As Bambi grows, he makes friends with the other animals of the forest, learns the skills needed to survive, and even finds love. One day, however, the hunters come, and Bambi must learn to be as brave as his father if he is to lead the other deer to safety. Written by Jean-Marc Rocher < [email protected]> Plot Keywords: Bambi | Deer | Hunter | Forest | Growing Up | Genres: Animation | Drama | Family Owner/Creator: Walt Disney Pictures Why we should add it:You should add it cause it bambi and everyone one who knows Disney knows the movie bambi Appealing, Thoughtful Animated Classic, 10 March 2005 Author: Snow Leopard from Ohio "The characters and story from Walt Disney's adaptation of "Bambi" still hold up as well as they ever did. The animation, likewise, still looks very attractive and detailed. It's understandable if the animation in itself doesn't strike everyone now as being particularly impressive, given the many recent achievements in animation, but in itself it is an excellent job with the resources of its time. It all makes for an appealing and thoughtful classic that is still well worth seeing. The main characters are well-chosen, especially Bambi himself and the always-engaging Thumper. Some of the best scenes are simply those of the various animal friends playing together – the scene of Thumper and Bambi on the ice being perhaps the most endearing of all. The change of seasons is used to great effect, both aesthetically and in advancing the story and its themes. It's pretty interesting to contrast "Bambi" with "The Lion King", by no means to decide which is 'better', but rather to take note of the slightly different ways in which they handle some very similar material. Both present the story of a young animal 'prince', the way he explores and learns about his world, and the ways that he must adjust to the tragedies and challenges of adulthood. There are also a number of other interesting similarities. Bambi is at once the more innocent, yet also the more somber of the two. One very interesting difference is that the greatest threats in "Bambi" come from humans, who are wholly external to the world of the characters, and over whose actions the animals have no control, whereas in "The Lion King" the threats and conflicts are all amongst the animal characters themselves. Both movies deserve to be ranked among the very best animated features of their eras, so there's no need to prefer one over the other – it can just make for even more interesting viewing to notice how these differences help to give each of the two movies its distinctive character. "Bambi" is the kind of movie that can stick in your mind for many years, especially if you first saw it when young. The characters and many of their adventures make it very appealing, often even adorable, and yet it also portrays some of the most serious (and frightening) things that can happen in the lives of the young. It's a fine movie that accomplishes a lot, and it has held up quite well over the years. "
