"Cutlass, I'm supposed to help Suki do something importent, is there perhaps something that is going on with your pack that could qulify?" asked Alex. "Not to intrude but my duty is to help her do something importent, so if there is something that qulifies as such, I'd like to know."

Alex ignored her. "Mountain lions?" he asked. "Why'd they kidnap your pups?"
Luke pinned his ears. "We don't know." he said. "That's one of the reasons we haven't tried to escape before now."

"I'm very sorry." said Alex. "But rest assured, if your mate is dead, she is still in heaven." he said. "I sense there is something about the situation you're not telling us." he said, not knowing of Kira but he could tell there was another creature involved besides the mountain lions.
Luke smiled. "Please take us home." he said. "Our papa...he must be worried sick...and so lonely." he said. "And sad...with what..what happened to momma." he said, once again on the verge of tears.
