Bluewolf128 wrote: This incident is actually not that unusual in my mind. A 7 year old is still forming his moral compass of right and wrong and to a 7 year old it may seem fun to throw about animals and such for amusement. Its in the same area as pulling on an animals tail or gleefully tossing mice to a snake. It may seem sick but to a child its just all fun. Whats the harm etc. I think that what happened with this is just a step up from those examples.
Now this is in no way right but I find the idea that a child may be mentally ill over it a bit over the top (though he may be, its not certain) a bit silly. As said a child is not going to be fully aware of what is right and wrong. He is not garenteed to be some kind of mentally disturbed nut case. I mean even go as far as to say that his parents may not be that bad at parents generally but again, I don't know for certain.
What is a failing here is that the parents let him to do this. Sorry, they could of stopped him but did not or were not supervising him at the time and this happened. That is a failure on their part and if there is any damages that should be paid, they should pay it. You don't let a child run around and do that.
Finally, though I know it was way back in the thread, sending a child to prison or killing him for this is one of the most disturbing things I have ever heard and I'd advise those who said it to think about what they are saying. I've been doing research and there are actually two mental problems that fit this. The one thing in this that makes me pretty sure he had a mental problem is his emotionless face while doing it. One is Intermittent Explosive Disorder (I.E.D.), this causes uncontrolable acts of violance when a trigger is present. In this case, I remember the boy saying the animals frightened him or something like that, this could trigger someone with I.E.D. to commit an act of violance with no recolection of the incident, or in some cases believing it was a dream, which for a kid is more difficult for them to tell dream and truth apart. The other is Biopolar, which I think a few of us know. I have a nephew with Biopolor and Autisium, he can be violant and yet believe and have the emotion he's happy or calm. If it weren't for the emotionless face, I would accept your explantion.

You may be right but I would be curious to see where he said animals frightened him. As I said yes, he could have a mental problem but I would still not jump to it straight away. You could describe a calm face as an emotionless one in some people and some people just don't show emotion very well. He may of been focused on what he was doing or not thinking about what he was doing. Also if he WAS scared of animals...why was he in a zoo in the first place?

The mental problems I discribed would cause him not to think what he was doing, they don't say what happened after, for all we know he could've had an emotional breakdown afterwards. In adults, yes it can be hard to see emotion sometimes but kids are diffrent, they don't have as much control over their emotions yet, which is why they're vunerable to mental conditions more than adults and why they're more easily scarred.

I'm sorry for the me using religion,I was going over my posts today, and I was scared about that post. I guess I forgot that rule, but I won't do it again. But anyways, I forgive, most of the time, unless it personal. Then sometimes I hold grudges. I don't blame you for being all horrified, but he was young. I mean, he SHOULD know better, but yeah.

Emuku Girl, Gadzilla wolf and Bluewolf123. I agree with you fully except I think the child should be punished. Not as harshly as a death sentance or jail but comunity service, yes that's reasonable. Everyone who thinks the child should die, how would you feel if you were the child and people were talking about how you should be dead? Or put in Jail for life? Sure it was wrong but it could have been his family's falt. Or he could have a mental problem. Like Godzillawolf wolf said, the I.E.D problem. That could be the cause of all of this. I think he should be forgiven but have punishment also. Comunity service is reasonable. Also think how much he will be avoided and made fun of and teased, think of those things, put yourself in his shoes. Honestly.

Punishing the child is totally out of the question. It's illegal to put a young child even in a juvenile detention facility, let alone a real prison. I still stand by my point that the child probably has mental trauma. Besides, a blank face can't be good, and sleepwalking is out of the question in my mind. Or, perhaps he was in a state where he had no control of his actions and awoke in the zoo, and he was scared. However, some of you are saying he does not know what is right and wrong. At 7, I was already getting punished and knew I was wrong. That's why schoolteachers for children that young point out what is right and wrong. All I know is that this child must have had a traumatic event or is seriously ill in the head, for lack of a better choice of words.

maybe it is, you never know. Autism can be a comnplicated thing. I know this stuff since i have it. but no i do not like to kill live things i am afraid of. im not that way. so it might just no tbe that.
it might be the other disorders though.
And since i told you this, do not think im am weird and any of the bad things. even though i have autism, i stilll can do lots of stuff. So thanks for understanding.
But anyway

THis article is horrifying! a 7 year old kid killing animals? this is just horrifying. well I'm very familiar with autism myself(please don't ask me why),believe me and I find it alittle hard to believe that the kid had a high functioning form of it,possible, but unlikely in my mind. All in all,I will say this, that kid killed too many animals for me to think he shouldn't be punished.

Dragon Tamer wrote: Not that I don't believe in demonic involvement in this world, but might I point out the amount of violence kids are exposed to these days? I mean it's well-known that by age six most kids have seen (literally) a million murders on TV. Sorry to get off-topic, but what? 'These days'? Seriously? When I was a kid, I was always watching violent shows. Army films, cowboy films... even watched my dad play violent games and played them too. And I'm a pacifist. This kind of stuff totally unfazed me, I couldn't care less. They were just movies and games, not reality. These things don't turn kids bad - bad parenting does. Black-Wolf-Soul wrote: yes very good point... there's probably 5x more violance than there was 10 years ago on TV shows even for kids .. i.e Ninja turtle for example lol no offense .. but it's about fighting mutant turtles and no matter what kids will think they're real and think it's accepted to fight with sticks and daggers?!.. to be honest i think there should be an age restriction on shows... and to show again movies these days there quite a few sex scenes or intense activity if you know what i mean... and that's why lately you see 16 yr olds pregnant and 13 yr olds having sex... and even hearing about 11 or so yr olds doing it too... and this is increasing in kids minds.. and even rated kid shows have "fighting" scenes.. but again.. i stick to my opinion... either this kid was actually posessed (it does exist.. you can read up on Anneliese Michel the most famous - her case was based on the movie of The Exorcism of Emily Rose) or the kid watched a lot of crime shows, or his parents tought him something?!.. but who knows and the odd thing is.. there's nothing saying much besides the kid killed animals in 30 minutes, fed them to the crocodile... there should be more information on this 7 yr old and what his parents said cuz this a kind of failed article to me.. lol Dragon Tamer wrote: I agree, TV needs more restrictions. A lot more. Some of the prime-time shows you see these days... *shakes head* 30 years ago, the creators would have been drawn and quartered. Well, maybe not, but they'd never work in show biz again, that's for sure. okay, just no. I live in Britain, and I must say, we're nowhere near as unbelievably protective and safe towards kids as Americans are. Infact, I don't think anywhere is. i'm not being racist, it's simple fact, I've heard plenty of Americans say it themselves. I know of German and Danish childrens' films, which can be very violent, sexual or include bad language. But then they were dubbed, and heavily censored, which is just unfair. if kids everywhere else can stand it, why not you? Which is why sSo many good family films are so ***** kid-friendly these days, with nothing for adults to enjoy. I remember when they were much more risque, like Disney's The Great Mouse Detective. There was a scene with a stripper mouse in it. Kids don't understand that! Why did you have to change that? You think things are getting better in society? They don't even understand sex. When I saw it on tv as a kid, I was like "ewww", or just paid no attention to it. Same with bad language. My parents happily let me watch things with swearing, but simply told me not to do it. When I was younger, I didn't, and even stopped other people from doing it (believe it or not). So, you cannot blame tv for this. if it's ANYONE's fault - its his parents'.

Wow, this happend along time ago - (2 years) But I remember when I first heard about this. I think the kid knew it was wrong in my opinion - should the brat die? - No Be taught a lession - Yes. I blame the parents honestly. If they taught their kid to do that. I don't know if there had been any updates on this kid though. Had any action been taken? Rebelness wrote: okay, just no. Real problem; It starts with the parents. Then it trickles down to the kids, who the kids tell all their friends about their new words and new things they've learned, in their little public schools, and the internet helps too. (But alot of times, kids don't have internet when they learn these things) It's not the TV's. It's bad parenting mostly.

And I agree with peopel from other Nations. Please, i love my country, very much, but i think kids should just be kids and be allowed to play with a stick every once in a while XD And BTW, cencorsing stuff on TV does no good, cause Americans purchase the UNCENSORED DVD'S XD XD! Stupid American broadcast corporations *mwahaha* So...yea. Censoring doesn't do much good if we're just going to go out and buy the uncensored DVD anyway. And I STILL think that this is screwed up(I've already put my two cents in)
