This is not really a "flame war". Simply members stating what they think this site should deserve.

And I do actually hold some respect for all of you not "letting this go" and simply sitting by the way-side and WISHING and HOPING that things will be done when it is clear that they won't until someone comes and addresses them.

People like Baltorocks123 and Sepp are simply standing for what they think is right.

Yeah, I was going to quote this last message but I had a techprob. Anyway, thank you, at least somone (Exept frm JC) Understands what I am on about...

==================================

Anyway talking about this, I was once an administrator on Habbo UK, but when I found out that I just didn't had the time to do all my duties, I told the Hotel Manager, and he gave me a Moderating job, witch I also quit when I left Habbo, because I thought of it as just geeting plain boring, now to me, that is what a mod or admin should do, if you cannot do your duties properly, than hang up your post, don't abuse your 'mod' rights, or anything like that.

WHen did he insult you? He is just standing up for things he feels are right, and I cannot see anything that he used to insult you.. You over exadurate (If that is how you spell it) xD

Anyway, who started the war? I beleve it was this user called Brown Wolf, I can't remember.

There is a very big problem in the reasoning and the points some of the arguments are built on in this topic.
The generalization has been made, that many mods are inactive and are not doing their jobs.
However, the only evidence provided to this as such are examples in the forums. In fact, how can one tell that 'many' mods aren't doing their jobs at all on the main site?
Fanfiction is updated, Fanarts are updated, Fan news are made, the shoutboxes are patrolled, they are actually constantly all over the place. And mind you, the member population is, at a daily basis, enjoying this.

However, my intention is not to point out what is and what is not (for I am not a meticulous mind reader that evaluates all the members' mentalities and activities) but the problem in the reasoning right now.

steet wrote:
I didn't read everything, but :
We ALREADY removed the inactive mods one or two months ago. I did it by refering to the other mods and by checking the mods logs. Some mods may not be very active (they don't show up on forums, site etc...) BUT they are doing their job.
I still think the best option would be to allow submitted fanarts, fanfics etc... to be validated straight away (without being checked) if the member is a trusted member (if the member has sent 50 fanarts and always have been validated, why should the mods bother to look at their new drawings when there is a 99% probability it will be accepted? And at the very least, the "report to a mod" option is there for a reason)

As Steet said, inactive moderators were removed one or two months ago. Of course, things happen, but, no one can say that there are 'many mods who do not do anything' because no one has the means of being able to say so. The forums give number of posts and 'last times' online, and ranks, and what not, but that's about all that the members can reason by.

Opinions are opinions, and claims are claims. Valuable opinions are not claims, and are simply upheld so by the very common assumption, that what is said, must be true.

Of course, as always for everyone, there are things to complain about, and doing so is a right you are given, but using claims to solve a problem is far from the right way of solving it. Because these claims cannot be responded to, because they are claims, and the initial problem cannot be solved because it has been shoved past. And this is a sad thing, for in most cases, the initial identified problems are worth solving.

There really wasn't much flaming going on here, JC spoke up and added criticism, while there is a fine line between criticism and flaming, I didn't see it as a flame. We've all had to face some critique from members as mods, the only flaming going on was after that post.
Brown had the right to reply to JC's post about them but really no one should've started "I think you're doing good actually" because moderation isn't a popularity contest.

I also am pretty impressed people didn't "just drop it" coz that happens way too often and this place really could use some straightening up. Loads of people have been saying how they miss how BS used to be but only a select few actually DO anything about it.

The mod staff isn't as efficient as it could be/has been and we are working on fixing that but telling people to "drop it" will solve nothing.

I agreed with Cat's post. And yes, we all take critisicm once and a while but even so, crtisicm should not hurt a person's ego. Maybe I'm being stubborn and foolish but that's my take, not anyone elses. Maybe its best that this topic is still around, I don't know.

Let me make this blindly clear: I did not start whatever issues are at stake with this topic. I have done nothing wrong but voice my opinions against this topic. I am just doing what I have to do.

True Cat. Very true. Well spoken. But what I think was being asked for originally (and I know I have been pursuing that even beyond the boundaries of this topic and all related ones) is to have the people who really CAN solve this problem, rather than those who just want it SILENCED, to look into the records of all activities and verify it. And then solve it. There's more than just inactivity. There are abuses. And the people I have talked to have already confirmed the existence of some of those. I have already posted one in a related topic. The others I dare not, in order to avoid further twisting of legitimate complaints into flame wars.

I have already provided my evidence to the people who need to have it. But I was chiming in on this topic because I felt it has merit. I still do feel that way. I don't entirely agree with the points originally made (because I see steet HAS removed some of the inactive staffers), but I also don't entirely agree with some of the replacements that have since been made. And I have heard enough rumblings from the ranks (and even other staffers) to know that I am FAR from alone in that viewpoint.

But I believe that you yourself see, that there are problems with generalizations. Anyone can say that there are 'such and such' people who do or have done 'this and that'. And in many cases, if this has to do with member-to-moderator relationships, there is the problem that moderators have a different relationship between each other, which is moderator-to-moderator, so the members have to give the moderators feedback, so that the moderators could then discuss it with other moderators.

Hence the report feature, and the Moderator PMing feature. Otherwise, you must understand, it is much like laying a mute patient before a doctor.

Opinions should be taken as opinions, and brought into confrontation with the issue in the topic. However, here, members tend to take these opinions and use them to confront the owner of the opinion, not the issue at hand. This is done both very directly, indirectly, or even misunderstanding-wise, but sadly, by the time either party realizes that they are no longer discussing an issue with the entire member population, but another issue with a specific individual (note: I use the word 'individual' instead of 'member' on purpose), the initial issue has been abandoned, twisted, and biased so that people with opinions modify them to fit either party.

Everyone has a right to an opinion, and their opinion, not someone else's. And if anyone really cares about solving the initial issue, they will have to take every opinion into consideration.

True, voicing opinions is very important in order to improve, but this means that these 'opinions' must actually be such. If the criticism is constructive, on-track, and meant seriously, then members can expect results. Sometimes one should just sit back, read what one has written, and think: is a whim of my own worth sacrificing a cause of improvement for?

If we all concentrated on fixing any global existing problems, instead of personal problems, we'd have all travelled a lot further by now.

This is totally spamming as it is going off-topic, we are NOT saying Brown Wolf is a bad Mod, we are talkig about Moderators themselves...

I couldn't agree more. As I say we are entitled to our own opinion, and would never drop this untill it is solved, evan if somone comes along and Locks the topic, I will still try and get my point accross.

No problem, and yes, the 'lord' dose know that this is true, or who ever the 'lord' is, if your talking about the Holy one, or the football (soccer) one.
