The world will end for some that day, and begin for others. It'll be a day like any other day, people die, some more peaceful then others, and more people are born.

Generator, fuel, water, and canned food sales will skyrocket, people will stock up on guns, and ammunition, due to media driven panic, then we'll all wait, and wait and wait. Nothing will happen. People will be angry, some disappointed, then life will go on. That's my speculation on what will happen to the 2012 Armageddon, it'll be a near exact repeat of Y2K.

My post was pointless, yes, but I'm 97% sure that's how it will look. And if the world ends, well...I'm dead, so it won't be my concern. LOL

They will tell you that you are being paranoid and that your post did not exist. Despite the fact that at least three people saw it. You, me, and doby. Probably Starsky too.

You know, I did a check on the two most checked references for this, Mayan calender and Nostrodomis, and I found out two things, nether EVER actuelly predicted the end of the world. The Mayans just ended their cycles, basically their calender year as one could put it, which was several thousand years old, yes, it ends on 2012, but they attatch no specific segnifigence to that day. There's a good explaination, you made a several thousand year long calender, why make another when there's an extremely large likelyhood your civilization won't even last that long?

Now, Nostrodomus, he never predicted an actuel end, though there is a portayed predoomsday prediction, it won't happen till 3140 or something like that. So that is shot down.

So in otherwords, don't trust the media on predictions, not only do they not take it seriously, they don't even get the facts right.

I concur with the "end of the cycle" one for Mayans calendar, they'll passed a gigantic recycle.
And for the Nostradamus one... well, let's say like this....
My opinion would be like this "Nostradamus predict on 2012 there will be a great shifting on Earth, well actually he compare the galactic alignment which it will happen around December 2012, with the shifting things..."

If there's no fact, is hard to believe... really.

To be fair, buying survival equipment and storing water and food has been done before. A survivalist lifestyle during the Cold War was to build a bomb shelter and stockpile if with non-perishable food (and water) and survival equipment. Hypothetically, people living like that have a better chance of survival in a doomsday event as opposed to someone who doesn't make those preparations.

That said I don't think a bomb shelter would do much in the way of protecting someone from a planet colliding into Earth.

True, the Mayan calendar ends on December of 2012.
True it's the galactic alignment and Nostradamus predicted a shifting in the Earth.
BUT do we realy have any prove the world will end on December 21 of 2012?
Not really. We have prove of the galactic alignment, but really nothing more.

I agree, same reason I don't trust televanglists. My prediction for 12/21/12? This:

People who think the world will end decide to do things with the thought there is no punishment cause the world is ending, do stuff they shouldn't legally do for the heck of it. Some hide in bomb shelters and such or commit suicide. Then, world doesn't end. Next day, those people realize the world is ending and think 'Oh crap, the world didn't end...man I'm in trouble...' or 'well at least I put the bomb shelter to good use.'. After justice is done and such, world goes back to normal with the small mass hysteria behind them, nothing really diffrent except some people are dead or in jail or finally got some use out of that bomb shelter. Anyway, that's my prediction, which I think holds more water than the media's.
