Shall I drop in a reminder to go back to the topic now?

We need no little digs at others thank you. The topic was moving along finely until others chimed in with un-needed opinions.

Actually, I assume responsibility for the tangent. A lifetime of public school has struck again. I agree, we should get back to the topic.

Thanks UK. Folks, I think I've got the gist of the original post in my own words. Here it is:

People keep bringing all kinds of junky stuff onto this site. Curse words and even sexual jokes in the shoutbox, descriptive and/or deviant sex in fanfics, etcetera. This site is not the place for that. The rules explicitly state an intent to have this site be kid-friendly, but more and more people seem to be forgetting that.

You are right there. I cannot argue that. However, what is passed off as "an opinion", which obviously comes across as a thinly-veiled attack, deserves a response, even if that results in a war of words. Since it takes practically an Act of Congress to get a moderator on this site to acknowledge where a person is really causing trouble, and to deal with that person (or acknowledge a rightful and justifiable private complaint about that person)...ESPECIALLY when the person causing trouble or being complained about either is a friend of some of the moderators, or IS a moderator his or herself, then the only vehicle left to the other person is to speak out against the troublemaker. Even if it means a drawn-out war of words.

Now...if moderators were to act more timely and fairly upon REAL and OBVIOUS troublemakers and those who REALLY start these discussions, then we'd have less of them, wouldn't we?

I've seldom had more fun reporting a troll. But then, you know how that is, right?

Just stop. It will alleviate everyone (including yourself) of a lot of grief.
