Who do you think should go out with Steele?

Hmm, but notice that he wasn't concerned about impressing Jenna at his low points. Remember when he saw the coffins, or when he fell off the cliff? It wasn't "Jenna," it was "Rosie."
Now granted, that doesn't expand his perspective much. But he wasn't doing it to gain approval (he shied away from the approval even when he got it!). He was doing it for the sake of the one person in Nome who loved him. Winning Jenna's heart, making her happy, and gaining the approval of the town were just icing on the cake.

Charlie may not have wanted fame, but he did want riches. And he was using an innocent child to get money and basically was not letting her leave so that he could get more. And when he said he was gonna help the poor, he just bought a few Hot N' Readies for some pups xD On top of that, he stole money, cheated (the ol' Carface way), and above all else, defied God.

And even tho there was some light showing that he MAY have cared for Anne Marie, he yelled at his best friend, who just got brutally attacked by a bunch of dogs /because/ of Charlie. And he was not sorry about it until he was sent to Hell.

Yes, he made things better at the end, but we know what happens to Charlie. You don't know what happens to Steele, and just the same what Steele did seems like small-time antagonization compared to what Charlie did. Quality over quantity as they say.

And as much as I don't agree with Charlie's character in the sequel, he didn't do anything very different, just not as severe as before.

Charlie sees a pretty girl dog ONCE, and throughout the whole movie he's trying to get her to like him, without really knowing much about her, and at many points he doesn't even care what she thinks.

Sasha, in the movie, was trying to take care of an 8 year old boy by herself, until Charlie came around. She wanted to send him home with his family, but Charlie said otherwise, which is irresponsible and selfish of him.

In ADGTH2, Charlie's given a special collar that will give him a solid body (as opposed to being a ghost) for one day. Charlie just wants it to get Sasha to fall in love with him (mind you he's only known her for approximately 2 hours at this point). He doesn't care about his duties to Heaven, he just wants to fulfill his own selfish needs of getting some chick to fall in love with him. (Not unlike Steele.)

Heck, not unlike in the first movie, Charlie in the sequel is even hinted towards using the kid to get (surprise!) money.

Tho that doesn't last long and I think its out of character for Charlie at this point in time, its still hinted.

But above all else, he makes a deal with the devil's pet demon cat thing, Red, putting everyone in Heaven at risk. Far worse than Steele fighting Balto over who's delivering the medicine if you ask me xD

Yea yea, everything's all hunky dory at the head of both ADGTH movies, Charlie gets his girl, but like I said, we /know/ what happens to Charlie. Not Steele. And in many ways they're basically the same character, so who's the say Steele can't change? And who's to say he doesn't deserve love either? xD

I've never seen ADGTH but I have to admit that you are right.

Exactly, and yet everybody loves Charlie for the same reasons they hate Steele :lol:

cat --> Not necessarily. I always liked Charlie for the fact that he changed more than anything else. Now, if Steele had a similar change of heart (and Phil Weinstein has implied that there was some consideration of the idea), that would be different. But as it is, comparing Charlie to Steele as if they were the same is kind of like making such a comparison between John Newton and John Wilkes Booth. Both were real creeps, but one of them had a change of heart- a change that made all the difference.

To an extent, Charlie didn't really change, thanks to that...lovely sequel. But just the same, we don't know what happened to Steele. In these fandoms Steele is ALWAYS evil, Kodi is ALWAYS with Dusty, Balto and Jenna will ALWAYS be together. Things change. And since Steele did things that were more small-time than what Charlie did, I just fail to understand how peoples' hatred of him is so intense and yet those same fans still love Charlie. Like I said, we already know what happens to Charlie. We don't know what happens to Steele.

Who is John Newton?

There's certainly room to back up a point like that. After all, it's not hard to see that Jenna was the reason he first took an interest in Rosie. But even if Jenna ceased to be a factor-say, if she had died for some reason-I think Balto would have still tried to save Rosie. Yes, Jenna would still be part of the equation in that he would be doing it to honor her memory, but I think in the simple fact that Rosie had shown kindness to him when no one else would, she earned a special place in his heart, connected to Jenna's and yet separate.
Does that make sense?

Kiko --> It is well said that a man wrapped up in himself makes a very small package, and in this case I think you've got Steele nailed down. Unless his heart underwent a complete overhaul, Steele would be a very poor excuse for a boyfriend, letalone mate.
