For a good while after Aramis passed on, Dartanion was depressed. He barely ate, or moved around much at all. When he was out in the pen outside, he just stayed by the door and laid down. When he was inside he stayed in the back of his cage, in the shadowed corner. The wolf just moped around not knowing what to do with himself anymore. There was no one to talk to, to keep him company...not anymore.

One day though, Dartanion looked up from his place in his cage when the door opened. The humans were standing there looking at him. One of them had a leash. What were they going to do? Was he going somewhere? One of them, a female, came in and kneeled down by the tri-colored wolf, reaching out to stroke his head.
"You ready to go out and live a new life as a real wolf? Huh Dar?" she smiled, looping the thick leather leash around his neck before standing. The wolf stood slowly, and followed the woman out to the front of the reserve. There was a truck waiting just outside, it's back doors open to reaveal a large crate. The woman holding his leash brought him over an had him jump in. "It's a long trip, but you'll be alright." Another human came up, wearing a long white coat, this time a man.
"Alright Dar, here we go. Don't worry, you'll be sleeping most of the way there..." The young wolf looked at the thing the man was holding. He was used to having shots, so just stayed where he was as he was injected with a sedative. Within a few minutes he was sleeping, and they were on their way.

Dartanion woke up and before he knew it, he realized he was outside, in the wild, without the humans, and without any way to get back. He was still a bit drowsy, but he lifted himself up and trudged forward, at least to try and find some water. He was still sad about Aramis, though he knew that being sad forever would do him no good now. Without even trying, but for most of the day, Dartanion made it to a large, yet shallow river and took a long, quiet drink there. He opened his eyes as he was drinking, and saw shadows on the surface of the water across the stream. He paused and raised his head warily. It was a wolf pack.

Surprised, the tri-colored wolf startled a bit at their presence, ears going errect, his marroon eyes widening. Swallowing nervously, he didn't know what to do accept stare. The pack leader, a huge black wolf with bright golden eyes, moved forward towards him, looking curious. Inwardly, Dartanion was just as curious, but not knowing what to do, not wanting to mess up, stayed still. The other wolf stared back at him another moment, before smiling softly.

"No need to be afraid, sorry for startling you. Are you alone? Where is your pack?" At that, the maroon-eyed wolf's ears drooped slightly, and he sighed.

"I don't belong to any pack." glancing a moment at the other wolves behind the black alpha, he saw they looked curious as well. Not angry, not threatening. Friendly actually. It surprised him more. "I'm sorry if I'm in your territory, I'm not...from here." But the large wolf before him didn't look angry either, his smile remaining.

As Cheveyo continued to smile at the stranger wolf, he realized that he seemed to take a liking to him. He looked at his silver, blue-eyed mate, Olathe, and winked, then looking back at the stranger. He seemed like a nice guy, and he shouldn't wander around by himself. Also, he didn't smell dangerous, even though the scent of humans was on him. They must've left him here.

"Well, you're welcome to join ours if you like." said the black wolf. Dartanion's eyes widened. Would they truly accept him as one of their own? As a family member? Like how Aramis accepted him?

"And I've been with them ever since." Dartanion took a moment of silence to remember how thrilled he was that he was part of a new family.

Kiona was staring at him silently the entire time. She nearly broke into tears while listening to Dar's tale...how sad he must've felt when Aramis died. But she was happy for him now, especially since she got to know him better. "Dar's a pretty cool guy," she thought to herself, inwardly smiling at the nickname she used for him. She softly smiled at him when he looked at her when he finished his own thoughts.

Dartanion had noted the female's teary looks every once and a while in his story, but said nothing on it, not wanting to embarrass her.

"And that's it really. I learned, faster than I imagined, how to work with and in a pack. You know how that's like right? You have adapted well to this lifestyle." Their conversation didn't get to continue, for it was then a howl broke the air as the two neared the caves. When they entered the area, they were greeted warmly by the pack briefly. The tri-colored wolf went off to find Achak to report, then they both returned, seeking out Kiona again. The silver streaked alpha smiled at the female in greeting.

The hybrid returned the smile and watched as everyone greeted their alpha and vice versa, very much in the way Dar described his and Aramis' playtime. They were all wagging their tails at him, lolling their tongues, yipping, barking, playbiting, etc. and some even began to play with each other instead of just Achak, who also surprisingly joined in some of the games. Kiona couldn't help but smile, and joined in some of the play herself, mostly playing with Ayashi and Takoda, but sending happy glances towards Dar, who sent them right back. But to Kiona's pleasant astonishment, Achak coltishly tackled her to the ground. She stared up at him, trying to suppress a smile.

The alpha smirked down at the female as a way of saying 'Gotcha', not really thinking of how Kiona thought about it, since this was probably the first time she's seen him this actively playing. Though, he paused at seeing the surprised look on her face. Figuring he had made her uncomfortable, the alpha got off her, not wanting to embarrass her or make her even more nervous. When Achak heard a challenge from Kanook, he turned to accept it when he noticed his uncle looking just past him with a sly look. Not having time to wonder why, suddenly a weight landed ontop of the bright blue-eyed wolf, making him stumble. Looking back, surprise changed to amusement as he saw the red hybrid.

When Achak looked back at Kiona, she smiled, slightly bashful, and wagged her tail a little bit. Everyone continued playing a little longer, including the hybrid and the alpha, until it was time to turn in for the night. It was already kind of late in the evening and had cooled since the afternoon. Kiona entered the cave after everyone but Achak, satisfied with the day's events. She had finally gotten to know Dar better...and Achak, now that she thought about it; who smiled after her, and her at him.

The long awaited springtime was already here. It was rainy today, but it wasn't nearly as nice-smelling as most rainy days. Today just smelled like mud. There weren't many animals out today. The occasional elk would be seen trudging its way through the woods. A fox was expected to be seen digging up its food while the ground was soft, but any were yet to be seen. A wolf also made its way through the woods, not hunting, since it was a poor day to hunt, but fulfilling its duties by making sure no strange wolves were trespassing. So far, there was nothing.

NOTE: This new rp is set before BHS chapter 5 ;D

Every pawstep made an unpleasant squishing noise in the mud as Takoda walked along scouting. There was no way to avoid the mud, every bit of the ground had been soaked. A few times the wolf had even slipped in the wet earth, so random places on his gray-fured body were wet or dirty. So far the scouting was uneventful. No animal was out today, maybe save for the birds who were safe from the forest floor's messy ground. They're chirping songs were the only noise surrounding the forest.
Takoda sighed.
"What animal would be out in--" suddenly he lost his footing again on the slick ground. Unfortunately the wolf was on a slope, and began to slide down it as well, crashing into some thick bushes at the bottom with a yelp.

A silvery, dark blue-eyed alpha female, too was scouting her territory, but she was so stressed. Her mind was on the burden growing in her belly. She had gotten herself mixed in the wrong crowd and ended up pregnant with a monster. At the time, it seemed so right, but now that she looked back on it, this...thing was going to be an embarrassment. She needed to find someone new now or else her entire pack would realize what she had done. She was the alpha, she was supposed to set an example. How badly they would think of her knowing that she betrayed them...

She was so wrapped up in her thoughts, she hadn't realized that she had wandered into someone else's territory. The change in scent grabbed her attention and she knew that she should leave immediately. Her original plan was to find the alpha of this territory and attempt to become his mate, but now she was beginning to have second thoughts. There was something peculiar and threatening about the scent in this area, it would be best to evacuate.

Just then an exclamation and the sounds of someone tumbling grabbed her attention. She turned in the direction from wence it came and saw a wolf a few yards away. It was at the bottom of the hill now and it wasn't moving. The strange grey, mud-matted wolf was downwind, so she couldn't tell by scent what sex it was, but just the same she ran closer to see if it was alright.

"Are you alright?" she asked from a short distance. The grey wolf looked at her with bright yellow eyes and a shocked expression. Obviously the wolf was male. Wait...a male? From this land's pack? This could be her chance! She went closer to the male, and feeling rather friendly, she looked him over for injuries. His paw was bent at an odd way. This was too perfect...

Well that had been graceful. Now he felt foolish and embarassed. He groaned. Thankfully nobody saw that. Stupid weather, stupid bushes. Leaves and little sticks stuck out of his fur from the landing. At hearing the voice, Takoda's bright golden eyes shot up, ears perking. Catching sight of the other wolf coming over, he began moving as well.

"Y-yes, I'm fi--ah!" the moment he put weight on his front left paw it shot pain through his leg and the wolf stumbled and fell back down in surprise. Ears pinned at his head, eyes clenched shut for another moment as the pain ebbed, the gray wolf sighed as it dulled. "I guess I'm not fine...I must have hurt my paw when I landed." Frowning, he glanced at the said injured limb, licking at it briefly to clean off the mud and dirt.

Now what? If he couldn't walk, he wouldn't be able to get back to the pack! It might not have been too big a problem if it weren't so slick, but in this condition, on three legs he would most likely end up hurting himself more trying to move around. Takoda didn't want to worry his family though. And now with this new intruder...Ah, that's right, the other wolf! Golden eyes snapped bac up to the other, who had since come over and was standing near him. "Um..."

The she-wolf chuckled at his nervousness. This was going to be easy. Even easier once she told him who she was. But for now, she needed to get him to a safe place. "Come on, let's get you someplace dry." As soon as that was said, it proceeded to rain. She looked around and didn't see any caves nearby, and the ground was too soft to dig a safe burrow within the hill. However, sticking out of a hill was a leaning tree, positioned well enough so that its roots (webbed with clay) curved over like a small hut. It would suffice as shelter for now.

She let the grey wolf lean against her, even tho he was still rather nervous, and they both sat under the lifted tree's roots, shaking some rain off themselves as best as they could without hurting each other. They both sat pretty close in order to take advantage of being somewhat dry.

"We can stay here until the rain lightens up again." she said. "So...what's your name?"

While he wasn't very comfortable with the situation, Takoda knew he didn't have much of a choice right now. He needed her help. And it just had to start raining again. Now it would make the ground condition even worse! Sighing, the wolf wondered how he was going to get himself out of this mess. At the female's sudden question, he glanced over, eyebrows raising. She didn't seem that bad. Friendly even.

"I'm Takoda. What's yours? Thanks for helping me. I don't know if I would have been able to get very far on my own like this..." he looked back down to his paw. It ached pretty badly, and he couldn't put weight on it. The wolf hoped it wasn't too serious. "Achak's not going to like this. I dont' want to worry them..." He muttered a bit loudly, thinking aloud, not knowing what the other wolf was inwardly planning.
