Speaking of Special Edition dvds, there will be a new SE dvd release for...

Message: I recently watched the DVD of The Secret of NIMH, and noticed a lot of scratches and blurry sections in the transfer. Are there any plans whatsoever to have the film restored in any way? I loved it as a child and hope that it doesn't deteriorate any more than it apparently has.
Reply: David, Thank you for writing. Actually, we just completed a re-mastering of the film for a new DVD which will be coming out next year. If all goes according to the marketing plan, it will feature an HDTV 16X9 version, a 1:1.85 letterbox version and a full screen version. It will have all the minutia, including negative dirt and scratches removed. We are doing a producer/director's commentary and on camera interviews for the "extras" in about two weeks. When we know the release date of , we will post it on the homepage of this site. Right now, we believe it will be in March or April. The new master looks beautiful! MGM/UA is releasing it thru 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. Regards.

*signs*

Haha, I made a topic with a poll of which do you think is the best animated movie on a forum I go too, and listed many Disney famous movies(Lion King, Bambi ect), and Balto got the most votes. ;D I should go tell them about the Petition. =3

EDIT: I posted it on my site, and they just told me how pointless it is, and that Balto is well known enough and that they don't think it falls under Universal's responsibility to make sure not one person forgets Balto, and stuff like that....

Huh?! What is that based on?
Geez, people should be more aware of a fanbase's reasons. Balto isn't at all that popular, anyway. Used to be, perhaps, during when the first movie just came out.

Widescreen shows the whole picture, full screen cuts off some of what you saw in theaters. Hence why it is wanted in the features of the DVD.

Thank you. Yes, with full screen, you get to see only 2/3 of the original picture, so you can miss stuff. I don't consider that "normal"...
And don't forget, all TV sets will be widescreen soon. The HD format is only available in widescreen, so you won't have the choice.

And personally, I like the widescreen much better, even when it's not the original format...

Dang it, I hate web blocks! I tried a manual petition and I had a lot of people sign it. Apparently, though, Universal doesn't know where they are anymore.
