It was storming yet again by the time Bethany got to Nick's house. Nick was in the living room, watching tv and swigging down a beer. Carelessly before he headed off to his factory job in a few hours.

Bethany walked slowly up the steps to Nick's house. She drew a deep breath of the cold, stormy air and finally knocked on the door.

Nick slowly came to the door, he opened it and blinked, smirking wickedly when he saw Beth. "Well, well, look what the storm blew in." he sneered.

Bethany scowled, slightly wishing Nate had come with her. "Shut up, I need to talk to you." She said, walking in the house and tasking off her coat.

Nick snorted, "Ya know, coming into someone's house without invitation is considered breaking and entering." he smirked "Hurry up and say it. Whadda' you want now? City Boy, not pleasing ya' in the bedroom?" he sneered, folding his broad arms over his wide chest.

Bethany narrowed her eyes into small slits, but felt herself blush slightly. At one point, she did love Nick. But she had to keep reminding herself that she didn't anymore. And those little remarks had always made her laugh, but now it mostly stung, but left her to blush.

"No." She growled, crossing her arms over her thin chest in retort, she hadn't been eating properly. "It's Jeffery. He's got pneumonia, the insurance won't pay for the antibiotics, and the hospital isn't allowing Nate to pay for him. I need you to help m pay. I'll pay you back, I swear. He's your son...after all." She said bluntly, just getting to the point.

Nick simply glared at her. Then he chuckled. "Well well... The high class Bethany Valentine is in need of help now is she?" he laughed a little louder. "Why would I want to give you, my hard earned money? What is my motivation? A-and don't you say, 'cause he's my son'!" he quieted down then spoke again. "He's your son, he was an accident for me... I shoulda been more careful." he replied with a smirk.

Bethany licked her lips as he spoke, wincing at the hurtful words. So much she wanted to say, but she didn't. She held her tongue, blinking at him, absorbing his words. She mulled over her thoughts, picking them carefully, her eyes flashing back to when she was younger, 17 and smart.

"Nick, if you love me...well...if you've loved me...you would do this. If the tables were turned, I'd help you in a heartbeat. I know the man I fell in love with is still there. Please, Nick. I'm asking you as a friend. Please. Help me with this." She said calmly, though her voice was slightly begging.

Nick simply chuckled. "I already told you my answer." he smiled and pushed her gently back against the wall, putting his hips to hers, and whispering in her ear. "I might reconsider though, if you do something for me..."

Bethany was stuck between a rock and a hard place, if she didn't do this with Nick...Well...Jeffery could die...But if she did, how would she ever get Nate to understand. She sighed, looking at his chest, he was so much taller than she. A sudden thought ran through her head.

"Nick..I just want to know.. Since you've ruined my life and all.. Did you ever... Love me?" She asked, though she was afraid of the answer. If she'd get a no, then the past 5 years of her life would've been wasted. If she got a yes, she'd be confused, questioning everything.

Nick chuckled, sliding his hands beneath her shirt. "I dunno doll... it all depends..." he cooed in her ear and then he kissed her neck. Honestly, he had never loved the girl, he just acted like he did, because he never assumed that they would have a child. Then when that "accident" happened, Nick wanted someone else.

Bethany's shoulders slumped, she was so used to his demanding touch. "And you promise to give me the money..If I comply..?" She asked, refusing to look at him.

"Of course... You do this and I'll give you your money..." he lied. Nick was an amazing liar. He wasn't going to pay her, but he hoped she was so desperate she wouldn't care. The false promise of money would keep her going. He kissed her neck again, "Now I'll show ya' what City Boy can't." he sneered wickedly.

Bethany blinked up at him, clear pain in her face. She swallowed her pride and nodded, "Ok." She croaked.

A few hours later, Bethany had fallen asleep and Nick was ready to profit. So to get out of paying, Nick simply got up and left, making sure to take his money with him. Now Bethany would be back to square 1, because Nick tricked her.
