[Balto, Complete] So wrong, but it feels so right [Part 1]

When their eyes connected, Slyth only expected it to linger for maybe a second. But she didn't look away, and he couldn't bring himself to do so either. Tilting his head slightly he blinked. . .then looked away. He'd heard a sudden sound behind him that diverted his attention. Whatever it was, it was gone now, but still, it'd done the damage. When he turned back to Blitz, he found that he had nothing left to say. What he'd wanted to say, was suddenly gone from his mind.

"Well. . .erm, I'll see you, around Blitz"

Blitz watched him, watched the sparkle that was in his eyes leave as soon as the noise that made him turn around in surprise. Her ears had flicked upward instantly at the odd sound, but her gaze remained on him, suddenly unable to take it away. The instantaneous curiosity that had risen was quelled almost immediately by the more important thoughts taking precedence in her mind. But as he turned back around to face her, she felt her hopes fall. She nodded as he spoke, not really registering the words completely, though she replied as well.

"Yeah...yeah I guess so. Later, Slyth." She turned slowly, her ears lowering slightly as she began to pad away. She didn't know what to say, or what to think. Maybe this all would sort itself out later, maybe if she slept, she'd feel better in the morning.

Slyth let his rear fall and land on the snow. The coldness of the snow against his legs and tail caused him to shiver. He remained there however. Even after her tail had swished around the corner. For some reason, he just stayed there. Looking out into the street and the little bit of scenery the thin alley's mouth opened up to revieal. Granted the house to his left was his home, and the one to his right was his neighbor, he still felt a bit alone. It had to just be what had just happened between he and Blitz. His mate was only a few meters away. Threw several layers of solid material that made the structure of the building. Why should he feel lonely? Kirby and Ralph lived down the street. And Dusty lived a couple streets over from there. An easy 5 minute walk to either of their houses if he wanted some company. He knew Dusty would be more than glad to talk with him, she was just one of those types that was always cheerful. Even if awoken in the middle of the night just to talk to a friend.

He considered going to talk with her, but decided against it. He should have been asleep hours ago. They had mail to run in the morning and besides, she was going to need the energy as well. So, with that thought, he willed himself to stand up and walk out the alley. No hurry though, The door was only a couple feet away. Couldn't take too long to get to. Even though he hadn't ment to, he looked up and down the street for the silohette of a female figure. One he could just barely make out down the road. As if she could sense he was looking, she dissapeared around another building. Where ever she was going.

Letting out a breath of air he shook his head. Why did he have to have emotions? He knew it was his fault for letting himself fall for both of these females, but now he had a problem that he couldn't figure out the solution too. He'd talk again with her later, but exactly how later he didn't know. Whenever he ran into her he supposed. Having not yet learned where she lived, he didn't yet have to ability to find her very easily. Plus, with her half wolf side, chances were she'd find him way before he could find her. His head shifted over and peered up the three steps up the porch to the door. The dog door still open.

"Goodnight Blitz"

With that, he walked up each of the steps, (With a squeek on each step) and allowed the darkness withing the house to swallow him up as he stepped in. Finding his cushion, he let himself fall down on it, closed his eyes, and waited for himself to fall asleep.

Saba however, wasn't on her own cushion, she was stading by a window, on two legs. Her upper paws rest gently against the window sill. Her tired eyes were looking at the snow covered streets as she kept laying a paw softly to her gash in her neck.

She glanced back tio see her mates sleeping figure "Huh, you finally came in hmm?' she whispered, chuckling tiredly, her actions slower than before. And although she was tired. She couldn't sleep.

Blitz poked her head around the side of the house she'd ducked behind, watching as Slyth moved through the dog door and into the house, back to his own humans and his mate. His rightful mate. She frowned before turning on her heels and padding along, far too restless to sleep just yet. The whole time she'd sat with Slyth, she'd toyed with the idea of their being together, but she couldn't get over the sense of betrayal she felt. Saba was also her friend, though they didn't know each other that well, and admittedly she'd only known Slyth a day or two longer than Saba.

And even if she hadn't felt the betrayal creeping up her, she was also brought back to the promise she'd made earlier. You swore you'd protect them both, their relationship and otherwise! You swore not to interefere! Even though Slyth was the one to spill the beans first, it still gave you no right to mess up such a good thing. Why, oh why did you have to meddle? Now uncountable troubles are sure to befall you, and you still haven't even truly appologized to Storm for that whole mess in the junk yard.

Her conscience was screaming at her once again and all she could do was scowl menacingly at the trash can in the alley before her and huff. The confusion had subsided into a momentary anger at herself and with no other real thought in mind, she followed her first impulse and headed out of town once more. She didn't really know where her paws were taking her until she saw the bow of the boat sticking out of the permafrost ground, and even then, she had no clue it was the primary residence of the great Balto.

Not more than maybe a minute later, he heard the voice of his sister. "huh?" he asked, opening his eyes. The darkness blocked his vision so he could see his sister at all. But she was standing somewhere near him. "oh, yea. Sorry, just had to ask Blitz a quick question. I thought you were asleep." He was already getting sleepy and felt like dozing off. It was pretty late and he knew he was going to regret staying up so late, but there was no way he could change that now. Unable to supress a yawn, he layed his head back down. "Arn't you tired? You sound like it? We should just go to sleep"

(Sorry for shorness. Again. Writers block on this one)

Saba picked pu her ears, tunring her head. She had a small smile on her face "Sorry I woke you, didn't mean to. And, yea, I'm tired. But, I can't sleep. After Mira woke me up that is." she chuckled as she spoke in a hoarse whisper "You just sleep, I will in am inute."

[Y do u apologize for short posts Balto?? it's not as if it's a criminal offence, I do short posts and never apologize, not my fault.]

After a second larger yawn, Slyth started squinting to see his sister's figure. His eyes were still adjusting to the darkness so, his vision wasn't completely clear yet. "Something bothering you?" his voice tired and croaky. Something about lack of energy made his voice sound that way when he was tired. He didn't know alot about time, like how to read a clock. Their humans had mounted one on the wall but he couldn't make sense of the arrows pointing at different symbols on the face. The first three looked like just I's but then the forth one had a VI. He normally just looked at where the sun was to tell. Even without the sun to tell him exactly what time it was, he still knew it was pretty late. The moons light filtered inside the house threw one of the windows that hadn't covered fully with the blinds. A shadow appeared by the window, and Slyth figured it was Saba.

Saba sighed, turning slightly to Slyth "No, nothing at all, Mira just owke me up and I couldn't go back to sleep." she smiled again, and sihged, she was wavering slightly form tiredness. But, somehow she doubted she could sleep.

For some reason, hearing her name made him look around. Apart from, now, Blitz, she was the only other one to know about his feelings for Saba. Well, right now he wasn't so sure. Ever since Blitz had come into the picture, things had gotten alot more complicated than he thought they could. Originally he'd only thought the only problem would be to keep it from their parents. But why did he have to let Blitz get to him as well? "She's awake too huh?"

He didn't see her when he looked around, but it was still dark so it wasn't impossible that he had over looked her. "Well, im going to get some sleep. Im tired enough right now as it is without staying up any longer. Try not to stay up to much longer. Believe me, you're going to be sleepy tomorrow if you stay up all night."

With that, he turned back around and walked over to the cushion that was his bed. He let himself fall onto the cushion, falling onto his side. After stretching, he curled himself up and closed his eyes. Drifting off into sleep.

Saba sighed, her head and body wobbling until..BAM! It came in contact with the floor, she had drifted off. Light breathing sounding in the room as a small bit of blood drained form her head because of the force she hit the ground with. But, she didn't care.

As he had expected once he heard Mira was awake, he was awoken from his sleep by a loud thud behind him. Sitting up, he turned his head and looked behind him. It looked like it hadn't been Mira. It was Saba. She appeared to have fallen asleep on her legs and fell over. Deciding he'd help her get back to her bed, he stood back up. Yawning and eyes droping. In a sleepy voice he asked; "Saba, you okay?"

Saba didn't answer as her blood stained her head, the window got in perfect direction of them soon so for a bit, the whole room was illuminated and Slyth could be able to see what had happened.

At first, Slyth was unsure of what he was seeing. Had she finished what she'd started a few hours ago and taken her own life? Or did she hit her head on something? As sleepy as he was, he thought he was dreaming. Closing his eyes and, after shaking his head, re opened them. The image of Saba laying on the ground, her head resting in blood. He didn't know what to do. There wasn't too much blood, so maybe it wasn't as bad as it seemed. "Saba?" he couldn't tell if she was consious or unconsious. Another cloud came over the illuminating light puring in through the window from the moon and caused it to grow dark once again. "Saba, are you okay?" he asked her, nudging her with his nose.

Saba lay motinless on the floor, light breaths escaped her mouth as she slept, half consious, half unconsious as she didn't wake up form Slyth's nudge.
