Sonya leapt out of the way of Mako whip and lunged at him.
"We'll see you there," Canyon said to Balto before running after Aleu.
"As fast as we can," Kodi added to Balto's statement.
"Aren't we always?" Maria asked with a forced smile.

Mako spun around and kicked her in the gut, then whipped her in the back.
Balto nodded. "We'll save them, we always do." he said. "Anyway, lets hurry."

Sonya yelped, but she was used to getting whipped. It still hurt, but she pushed passed her breathlessness and pain to stand up and grip her jaw around Mako's ankel. She bit down as hard as she could.
Kodi nodded and concentrated on runing.
"It will be true today," Maria said. "We're gonna be fine."

Sonya held in a yelp and hesitated less than a second before leaping at Mako again. She bit down on the hand with the whip.
Frida nodded an dran into the house. She led the group to the basement door. "How are we gonna get it opened?" she asked.
"Of course they will," Maria said.

Mako cried out in pain, then headbutted her several times.
Ana heard her family. "Papa!" she cried. "Please hurry! The basement is flooding!"
Balto growled. "How dare he do that to my pups!" he yelled. He looked around. "Anyone see a way?"

"Daddy!" Maria called out, scatching at the door.
"We'll get you guys out in a sec," Kodi called to them. He looked around the room. "Maybe we cna find something in the kitchen to pick the lock with."

"Give me a second," Scout said, inspecting the door. He scratched at the hinges before popping one loose. He worked on the other one until there was space enough for Marie and Ana to crawl out.

Mako staggered backwards but pulled out a can of pepper spray and sprayed it into his face.

Ana struggled through and pulled her sister through as well. The door finally gave way and washed all the dogs out a nearby door.
