I know a few possibilities...

I like ferrets, so I think I could manage. Especially since with skunks you don't have to worry about them climbing into the works of a recliner and... well, getting scrunched when someone leans back. Ferrets have been known to do that.

I wonder where I'd get a skunk, though? I could see it making an interesting object lesson, now that I think of it.

I hear that those raised as pets (and bred for that purpose) often adapt well to humans and the pampered life of a pet. And can be very amusing animals to have (if you can live with the still-somewhat-present odor even after the de-scenting. Anyone who's ever been around a de-scented ferret will know precisely what I'm talking about)

Maybe I will get a pet skunk sometime. I can just imagine showing up at family reunions with that on a leash.
