The Attack
Bambi and the cougar spent all day climbing the mountain. Bambi was so jovial as he spoke of the trees, bushes, rocks and creatures who resided on the mountain. The cougar, however, remained silent, following in disdain with her head hung low. She didn't like the thought of killing this noble and good-natured stag, but she had little choice. He would never allow her to stay. What stag in his right mind would willingly share his territory with a mountain lion? Only Ronno; selfish, cold-hearted Ronno; would consider doing something so foolish.
The sun was beginning to set as they finally approached the top of the mountain.
--This is it. This is what I was wanting to show you.-- Bambi said as they came to a stop at the very top of the majestic mountain.
The cougar lifted her head for the first time since they began their hike, and she gasped in wonder. There, on the mountain top, was a beautiful lake. The two stood together in the silence of the evening, just looking out on the beautiful water as it reflected the luminous multicolored sky.
--Isn't it magnificent?-- Bambi asked with a sigh.
--Yes...-- She whispered as she drew her gaze from the water and focused on the stag. --I've never seen anything more amazing.--
Bambi smiled and looked at the tawny cat. For the first time since she'd met him, the cougar smiled as well.
But suddenly, her smile faded. Her pupils shrunk to the size of ladybug spots. A deep growl rose up in her throat. Bambi perked his ears and tilted his head curiously.
--What's wrong?--
The cougar flattened her ears against her skull, and her lips curled up, revealing long, white, pointed fangs.
Bambi took a few steps back. What had happened that caused her to suddenly transform?
It happened so quickly. Bambi leapt to the side, keeping a frightful gaze locked on the cougar, who suddenly sprang at him, claws unsheathed, and hungry mouth agape....

I think I'm the most proud of this one so far. It had to be altered the most of all my renders, especially Bambi (originally Prince frolicking in the field with Bambi...had to cut Bambi out and redraw most of the stag's body before turning it into adult Bambi.) The cougar is rendered from Sarabi from the 1st Lion King film (at the end of the movie when Scar reveals that he killed Mufasa). The background is from Brother Bear.
