a ghostly memory

a ghostly memory

Calemvir stood, looking around at the vast meadow stretching out in front of him. He saw a rustle in the grass in front. He closed his eyes, the meadow had been like this since Goldrein... He sighed, life would never be the same. He pictured the meadow as it was last year ....

You'll never get meee an annoying young buck was shouting, to the constant reply of

oh yes I will.

Calemvir stepped out, bringing up an impressive set of 10 points, he'd never seen this place, and the herd he was trying to reach was through the corn on the other side.

As he took a step into the meadow, a hush came over the other bucks, they had never seen such a fine young stag. But they learnt that Calemvir was not one for battle or taunt.

A strange grey-green doe came up to Calemvir. He knew this doe, she was actually his crush, and she looked at him with these huge blue eyes.

Hello Calemvir she whispered, he voiced carried off in the wind. a silence fell over the other bucks and stags, even

you cant catch me and

Oh yes I can stopped.

Hello Goldrein. Calemvir said.

Just then, all the stags heads turned towards the corn, for they felt the small body's moving stealthily along the grass. Calemvir felt it to, but it did not feel like dogs, eventually, the other stags and does ignored it, it was probably moles or mice moving in large confused groups. It seemed strange, but what other explanation was there?

Calemvir and Goldrein settled down next to each other, and eventually got some sleep, for Calemvir still had a long way to go, as they entered the den, Goldrein whispered;

You could stay here you know

Calemvir sighed, it was a possibility

After the two deer were asleep, the moving things in the grass got nearer, for they were actually venom-es snakes.

They largest snake reared up, and as Goldrein was stretching, she accidently hit the snake, causing it to bit her leg, instantly, Goldrein woke up, to see a mass of snake trying to bite her, another one bit her on the front leg and another on the other back leg, and Calemvir woke up, fighting of the snakes bringing his antlers close to the ground, but the second largest snake coiled around his antlers

Antlers arnt going to sssssave you from ssssnakessss you know he hissed your wasssting your time

Oh yeah? Calemvir yelled, ramming his antlers , and the snake into the wall, stabbing the snake through the chest, as it coiled on the floor.

meanwhile, Goldrein tried to move away from the snakes, but the venom flowed through her body, making her feel weak, and her vision blurred.

Finally she collapsed and as she closed her eyes she drifter to sleep. She would not wake again.

After Calemvir sent the snakes packing he came over to Goldrein.

It's ok Goldrein, I sen them off he said

Goldrein? But the doe did not stir. It was then Calemvir realized the truth, the doe never would stir, again.

That began his hatred for snakes, and Calemvir thought it was no longer a possibility to stay in this meadow, so he returned his search for the herd on the other side of the corn ...

Calemvir opened his eyes, Goldrein was standing in front of him. What?

Your ALIVE? Calemvir asked.

Yes, I am, now we can be together forever. Goldrein said, kissing Calemvir on the cheek. As Calemvir kissed Goldrein on the cheek, he cried a little.

But I think I'm with Jenilva he said, or I might be, after all , I know her better than anyone

That's ok

It is

Yes, because I'm not really alive, she said and became a little less solid, and started to drift.

I'll always be thinking of you

And I shall also
