voice hit Bambi's sensitive ears.

But Thumper continued.

"You're supposed to protect everyone, but all you want to do is protect Rags. And someday soon, this obsession of yours will cost you dearly."

The two stood there, staring each other down. Bambi and Thumper, who had grown up together as best friends, now stood opposing one another. And though the wedge between them is technically metaphorical, it became blatently obvious as Rags bounded up to them and came to a stop in the middle. Thumper could see the green-eyed scruffy creature was the literal unwitting wedge that threatened to drive his friendship with Bambi apart. The rabbit sighed and slowly turned away.

"Bye, Unlce Thumper, we'll see you next spring!" Rags called happily.

Thumper paused and turned his head slightly until he caught both the stag and the bobcat in his peripheral sights, though it was Bambi that he was focused on.

"Will you?" He whispered.

With that, Thumper bounded away through the trees. Rags ignored the questionable farewell, but Bambi was well aware of the hidden message within. He gave a mighty sigh of worry. Unaware of Bambi's racing thoughts, Rags focused on the forest behind them.

"I sure wish mommy could come with. I'm going to miss her." She sniffled.

Bambi proudly lifted his head and turned towards the snowy mountains beyond: their sanctuary for the winter. Bambi would rather face the claws of ill-tempered mountain lions and the insessive howling of a chorus of wolves than Man's Thunder Stick. At least Bambi could fight with a cougar and reason with the wolves. Man can not be fought nor can he be reasoned with.

His mind made up, Bambi turned and began striding towards the mountains.

"Your mother can not be with you anymore, not where we're going."

Rags looked grimmly into the forest from which they came, wishing like mad that she could be with her mother and siblings and friends this winter. A tear fell from her eye. Her heart longed for them.

Bambi stopped and called back to her.

"Come, my daughter."

With one last glance, Rags sadly turned away from her home and began following Bambi up the winding mountain trail. It seemed that the bobcat kitten's life of youth was over.

Meanwhile, back in Bambi's Forest home, the Rut was just beginning....

MLW: Thank you so much! :P I try to avoid overly-serious chapters; I always like to have a bit of comedy in there to keep the readers entertained. I'm glad it's working! :)

Feather: I just finished chapter 6 and sent it in, and chapter 7 is going to have all the special guest OCs (plus I might bring back the guest OCs in a later chapter to participate in one of Gurri and Syndica's challanges/dares). But you have until I complete chapter 7 to get your OCs in! ;) It will be a big chapter and take me a bit of time to write, so you should have plenty of time to create a page for the character :)

MW - yeah. XD after writing it occurred to me that "If they have THAT many, how many must have been BIRTHED?" Anyway, I figure that the doe will have a crush on Raven, but beyond that, I don't have much beyond a rough design.

I'm sorry I can't say much now, but after just getting home from my work placement, I'm not very creative. (Plus, I saw a hamster die today after we've been trying to save her the whole week...nothing unexpected, but depressing.)
The chapter was funny, it made me giggle. ^^ I really, really liked the serious yet funny tone it had, the renders, the bits with Lola and Blossom and the talks of the females. ^^ It was great work, as always. ^^

Saske: YES! I wanted to add some original lines from the film in this since it was inspired by 2 scenes from the first film: the scene when Bambi's mother is taking Bambi up to the meadow for the first time, and the scene where Bambi realizes his mother has been shot and instead follows his father. Very powerful themes, but since they're also very dramatic, I decided to throw Thumper's wife and kids jokes in there, too, so the chapter is both funny and serious. And...since I don't want their mates to be excluded, I threw them a scene, too! I'm happy you like it! :) Lola and Blossom will be returning in Chapter 7 :)

Feather: I've never had success with breeding rabbits. I know what a pain in the butt it is to try and raise baby bunnies, their mortality rates are through the roof. The 67 kids things was meant to be a running gag throughout the story, showing that not only does Thumper and his mate produce and successfully raise so many offspring, but the fact that Thumper has no idea who his children are made for a very funny, though impractical, theme. :P And refresh my memory about what you wanna make for Raven? I need to know of all extra special guest starring OCs now because they'll be appearing in Chapter 7.

Falinelover: Thank you! She's a giant pain to render, but she is fun! And I can see Thumper's point of view about Rags. After all, a bobcat's favorite prey are rabbits and hares. Thumper knows this ;)

Wonderful chapter! ^^

But for me, it only reiterated the grim truth of breeding rabbits: out of those sixty-four, een in a domestic setting, about thirty - at best - would make it through.

... And can I still make that for for Raven you gave me permission for some year ago? xD

DOSE BAMBI FINAL WORDS :I FAMILIAR THEY ARE
Nice chapter though! 8D I've really enjoyed it, especially the part of Thumper talking about his family haha xD I totally see him doing that! And it was nice to see some space given to Thumper and Flower's mates!
