Vic?"

"What, these?" Vic fondled the tails teasingly. "I bought these at the corner store."

Sally shot the man a scornful glare. Vic smiled one last time as he opened the door to his trailer.

"Prove otherwise." He hissed before stepping inside and slamming the door shut.

Sally growled and kicked a rock across the street. Eric and Tommy trotted across the road towards her.

"Hi Aunt Sally!" Tommy greeted as he hugged her before turning his attention on the puppy in the car. "Hey, boy! C'mon!"

The pup barked, hopped out of the car and ran with the boy into the house. Eric looked at his Aunt's face.

"What happened today, Sally?" He lowered his voice to a whisper. "Did you get the footage?"

Sally sighed and reached into the back of the Jeep. She handed a very shocked Eric a totally demolished video camera.

"What did you do to it?!" Eric shouted as he shakily grabbed the camera.

"I didn't do it. Some crazy deer did it."

Eric snapped his head up and looked curiously at his aunt.

"A deer?"

Sally nodded and turned towards the park. She pointed up into the deep forest.

"I was in the tower looking out through my field glasses and I saw Vic's dog chasing something. So I jump in the jeep and head to Canyon Road. From up there, I saw that Vic and the dog were chasing the animal into the canyon to trap it. So I grab the camera and just as I get out of the car, BAM! Some huge stag crashes into me!"

Eric listened intently to the tale as Sally continued.

"The camera went flying out of my hand. It just stood there staring at me before taking off towards the mouth of the canyon, crushing the camera as he went. Then he jumped down the precipice."

Eric cocked his head in confusion.

"He was running towards the hunter?"

"Yeah...it was weird." Sally shrugged. "I heard gunshots, too but by the time I got to the top of the canyon, I couldn't see anything." Fustrated, Sally kicked the wheel of the Jeep. "Dammit! I needed that footage! If I got that creep on tape killing an endangered species, we could put him away for a long time." She lowered her head in disappointment. "Now, who knows how many innocent animals he's going to kill before I can catch him." Sally walked up the porch stairs and into the house.

Eric looked down at the remains of his camera, then up at the heavily-treed mountain beyond. The only thing Vic Lester deserved was a jail cell. He was, in essence, an animal serial killer.

And because of the interference caused by the renegade stag, the mad gunman would continue to mass-murder the animals of the forest.

This is one of the best bambi stories I have read as I am a big fan of bambi and faline

Feather: , that's exactly what I was going for with Gurri :) Just a boy-crazy teenager XD She's the polar opposite of her all-work-and-no-play brother, Geno. :P Not sure if I'm going to have anymore human characters in this story; just a few more stags that I might be making (unless someone has a really great one that works for the story!) And yes, Sally has the coolest job ever ^_^ Who wouldn't want a job where they get to play in the woods all day looking for animals? :p

MLW: Oh yes. Faline is a mom now so she has a completely different personality. I guess that's what marriage and motherhood does to a gal! ;)

Two things I want to add to my comment:
1) You don't mess with Faline...she's a kick (censored) mother now. ^^
2) It's forbidden to look Death in the face? Ummm...Soleil, dear, you have a problem. XD

You know, I read it again, and gosh, the more I learn of the characters, the stronger I feel about them. You have very realistic depictions in the main characters - flaws, strengths. Gurri is SO typical of a teenage girl(Show of hands - who here HASN'T met a boy-crazy girl? Yeah, I thought not xD), and Geno is so uptight and determined.

I'd love to add a character myself. May even take a shot at a human if there's room, but I'm not dead-set on it.

Geez, I so love Sally's job. xD

Sorry. It's late and I've been translating the whole day. (Your new chapter, and I'm translating Untaken and HftN again to get rid of a few errors and exchange a few words against hunter's jargon.) ^^

Actually, I answered that question here: http://www.animationsource.org/bambi/en/chars/Ragamuffin/36559.html on Rag's character page :) But yeah, I did answer it!

FL 101: If I may answer for Roach: look up the comments to the last chapter, she said it there.

Roach, When will brook and Lumsters ( lumi) appear? I'm in a curious mood today.

Saske: You think they'd try to be more responsible but Lord love 'em, they're still naughty does XD

MLW: Oh yeah, punishment ensues in the next chapter XD And it was all Gurri's fault. Raven has the mental capacity of a toddler, since he's just a baby. If Gurri (who is the equivalent of a 15 year old girl) had been watching him better instead of watching the stags, he wouldn't have wandered off. Anyways, thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I really love the fact that most fanfic writers try to keep to the original novels or movies by making Man an enigma; a shadow or gunshot in the distance. I wanted the deer to take a closer look at Man; to see that there is a difference between a hunter and a spectator; between a poacher and an animal rights activist. I also decided to make my main human character a hot guy, as opposed to most people who make their human OC a hot chick. I'm pleased with that decision ^__^

Feathervenom: Thanks! We'll take a closer look into the lives of my human OCs in a later chapter. Eric, Tommy, Sally and Vic all have special lives and profiles, and since they'll probably be deleted if I make them character pages, I'll probably just describe their bios in one of the later chapters.

Hige: Thank you! :P
