In the far South where usually lands of ice covered the landscape lived a herd of caribou. The glistening grass was shining, the birds sweet melodies chirping to whoever who could hear. The sun shined bright on that glorious day.

Her ears pinned back, crouched down into the bush, peeking her head out only once or twice.

“Sedna, Sedna come out, come out where ever you are.” Taggarik teased.

Sedna could only smile as she heard Taggarik”s footsteps get closer to her hiding spot.

Taggarik leaped onto Sedna’s bush, Sedna giggled as the bushed flatten to both of their weight.

“Found yah!” Taggarik laughed laying on top of her.

Sedna smiled “I can tell.” She mocked looking up at him.

Taggarik and Sedna stood calling for Tupilek to appear from his hiding spot. Soon after the calls Tupilek walked out from behind a tree smiling joining his friends in a laugh. Tupilek looked to the mild sky, “It’s getting close to dark, we better get home before our parents get worried about us.” Sedna nodded, looking at her brother “Come on Tup, can we ask if Tagg could stay?” she asked cocking her head. Tupilek smiled to their conversation. The trio turned for home.

The night air blew in faster than normal. The three drawn in close together in there den. Sedna rose her head up at the night sky. Her brother fast asleep unlike Taggarik. Taggarik opened his eyes. “What’s the matter Sedna?” He was worried she wasn’t a sleep by now. Sedna turned her head to her friend. “Oh nothing Tagg, just can’t sleep.”
Taggarik stood looking down at Sedna.

“Where are you going?”

“Follow me Sedna; I need to show you something.”

She stood following Taggarik out of the den and deep into the woods.

“I been wanting to show this for awhile, but i-I just don’t know i-if you’ll lik-e it.” He blushed looking at her even thou he couldn’t see her she was still the most beautiful thing he ever heard.

“What is it Taggarik?” she lightly blushed as she did normally around Taggarik.

They soon arrived at a open field, filled with Sedna’s flower. Sedna’s eyes wided to the beautiful flower field. She turned her head to Taggarik.

“Taggarik this place is wonderful.” Her eyes swelled with joy.

“This is out place Sedna.”

A deep blush came to both of the couples cheeks. Sedna licked Taggarik’s cheek. Taggarik’s eyes widen. His blushed stretched from one cheek to the cheek to the other. Taggarik looked down embarrassed twirling his hoof into the snow. Sedna rubbed her head into his neck saying thank you. He raised his head rubbing to her’s. It was no secret that they both liked one other. Laying in the flower field for the rest of the night.

Tupilek awoke, bating his eyes open. Tupilek stretched his head scanning the area for Sedna and Taggarik. He stood rushing out of the den in a bounding speed. Soon Taggarik awoke to find Sedna snuggled close to him, laying her head next to his. He didn’t want to awake her but afraid Tupilek would be worried about her. There he sighed as he nuzzled her awake. Sedna barely opening her eyes. “Good morning Sedna.” Sedna turned her attention to Taggarik as she yawned “Good morning Tagg.” “We should be getting back Tupilek would be worried if he awoke before us.” The couple stood. Taggarik making his way down the hill he looked back at Sedna.”What is it Sedna?” she stepped closer to him giving him a lick on the muzzle. “I just wanted to tell you…” she got cut off by Tupilek’s calling. Sedna looked down to see her brother bounding up hill. “Thank god, I found you guys. Why did yall leave?” The couple blushed “Just getting a head start on the day I suppose.” Sedna covered “Well ok.” Tupilek had a questioning voice. They headed back to the den. Taggarik’s mother stood at the entrance. “Hello Miss, Nikochia.” Replied Tupilek to her hello. “What are you doing here mother” “Well I’m here for all of you little ones. There is a meeting being held.”

The trio arrived at the meadow, the leader stood on a boulder shouting. “Meeting Meeting now!” His voice was not pleasing. After the arrivals of the other cows and bulls he began to talk. “My brothers and sisters, it seems we have over repopulated our lands. There’s less food little water. Barely any shelter for our mothers. Hiding isn’t easy anymore due to the fact we have to many children!”The herd exchanged looks back and forth throughout speech. “I know it seems tragic but the only solution is to execute or decaled abandonment for young ones. “Mother’s eyes widen as thou children’s too. “No, No!” the mothers and children shouted. Taggarik, Sedna and Tupilek looked at one another with a depressing attitude. “Although some may stay but others must go. If your child as a disability they may stay, other than that they must leave.” Tupilek’s mother shouted “This isn’t fair! My young ones are angels! They would never harm us!” The herd looked at her in disappointment. “Yeah right kids are bandits to us all!” All they do is make trouble for all of us” They shouted. Their mother’s eyes swelled up with tears. “Execute her for question the king!” “Quiet!” The mother looked her at the leader, tears slipped down her rosy red cheeks. He nodded to her. “Now do not question me cow!” She turned her head to her children. There innocent faces were hopeless for anyone to care. “Violence is vital in this predicament!” preceded the king. “Say goodbye to your young ones they leave at night fall.” He walked off.

“How could he do this?” Asked Tupilek

“He’s evil, that’s what he is.” Commented Sedna

Taggarik was to shocked to say anything to anyone at the moment they returned to the den. Sedna looked at Taggarik. “I’m sure gonna miss you Taggarik.” Her eyes filled with tear. Tupilek turned to his mother and father rubbing his head to both of their chests.

Night fall was among them. Goodbyes were said and done but Sedna couldn’t stop saying goodbye to Taggarik. “Never forget me ok Tagg, your gonna grow up to be an fine bull and you’ll always have lots of love.” She sniffled tears burned his eyes form crying so much. “Shhh Taggarik, I’ll see you again I promise. I we’ll wait for you. I’ll be waiting. Now it’s time for me to go, okay?” He shook his head “No, Sedna, don’t leave me!” Tears poured down the young ones face. Sedna sighed sniffling. Tupilek returned back to his friends.  “Bye Tagg, I’ll miss yah.” Tupilek had nothing more to say for he didn’t want to cry in front of anyone. Tupilek turned leaving the couple alone once again, Sedna licked Taggarik’s tears away. “I love you Taggarik.” Taggarik’s eyes widen, he’s tears had stopped from falling. “I-I love y-y-you too.” She gave him a light smile after rubbing her head to his chest then leaving. Taggarik bounded forward but getting stopped by his father. The couple watched their children leave as tears fall from their eyes into the snow nothing was left from them but there hoof prints.

The two fought fiercely to survive the winter. They pressed on, his bold and brave nature dissolving more quickly than his strength. Sedna heard a cry from her brother, he had fractured his leg, climbing down the fierce slopes of the South. Sedna wanted to stop for her brother’s sake. “We must stop, of your gonna get hurt even worse.” “No, well never make it if we stop!” but he turned her down. He shouted which only sounded like a whisper even for Sedna’s great senses.

Tupilek heard a snap he looked back to see his sister facing the ground tears filled her eyes but not one fell. She had broken her leg, not fractured like Tupilek but snapped. Her brother fiercely helped her for as long as he could, but at one point, the howls of wolves sounded. Sedna heard them begging her brother, “Leave me; I’m nothing but dead weight to you.” He refused many times. Eventually the wolves came into view, and an adolescent bull cannot fight them off. “Leave!” Sedna begged again. Tupilek was forced to listen, he ran, not looking back, without a clue what would become of Sedna. He never would find out. She smiled at her brother as wolves came closer to her, she shook in the deep snow as they snapped their large jaws in her direction. She closed her eyes and barley stood, looking up at the wolves jumping up and down the slopes. She did the only thing she could do at a moment like this, yell. She made high pitch noises, hoping it well slow them down, it did, the timber wolves ears shook at they begged for the noise to stop, they gave up after a few hours leaving Sedna with a broken leg and a couple of scars.

Sedna leg healed in six months, just enough to walk on, she looked for her brother most of the time, finding some food here and there. She stayed in an old bear den, in time she stood normally, in the fall she looked off once again at the place where Tupilek most likely saved her. Tupilek saved Sedna in many ways she thought. She promised
