Slightly old-ish, eight-point Buck

Slightly old-ish, eight-point Buck

...I cannot tell you how much I love this peice.
I feel... warm and fuzzy inside when I look at it. So warm and fuzzy! I love it, and, for once, I don't see the flaws in it. By the way, that next to his muzzle is my signature. I can't find the original paper now D: I wanted to get mom to frame it and put it on the wall as a replacement for my older Ronno, which I'll get up eventually, since I had referenced a more 'professional' drawing here. His face is shorter than I realized deer had, and it improved dramatically.
And MW Roach, get your butt over here and tell me what I'm doing wrong! XD I want to know what's wrong with it so I can fix it! Lol. No offense.

I really like the realism in this piece. If you were striving for realism, you're off to a great start with this! The face could stand to be a bit longer, and eye could use a touch more darkness around the edges (in real deer, the eyes are almost black with just a little shine above the pupil). I think the shoulder is a bit high, or perhaps it just looks that way because there is no line showing where the back is; the back should come out in a straight line at the very end of the withers, not dip down and then go straight. The antlers could use a bit more shading at the area where the point attaches with the body of the antler, to give it more depth. The ears are AWESOME.

If you were going for Bambi/Disney-style, though, all that really needs to be done is a more domed head, longer snout and larger, more expressive eye.

Otherwise, great job. I think this piece is excellent :P
