Personality:
On the outside, Gwen is polite, friendly and happy when she is around other deer. But below her façade, she is often – especially around deer she doesn’t know very well – scared and fears being rejected and betrayed. She is also kinda paranoid, which leads her to always assuming people are talking behind her back and planning something against her.
Only when she trusts someone who is in her close environment, she is actually very chatty, bubbly and happy. She can be very silly at times, and when around friends, she’s anything but serious. Even as an adult, she has absolutely no problems with jumping around like a little fawn.
She is very laid-back when it comes to duties, and kinda lives in a “Hakuna Matata” kind of way. She sometimes just lies around, watches clouds and spends her time thinking about things or talking with her friends.
But when she wants to, she can be a hard and successful worker; it just sometimes takes her or her friends some time and effort to get her interested in something, especially if she wants to do something else.
She loves speed, and sometimes just races around the forest, and since she is bigger than everyone else, she outdoes them very often.
She sometimes has temper issues and when she has a bad day or is annoyed, she screams and yells and curses – and let me tell you, although she (or should I say I ^^) can be very sweet, she curses often and uses some bad language when she’s furious. When she’s like that, she’s even very impolite towards her friends, but they’ve learned to deal with it.
Also, when Gwen’s not interested in something, she shows it. She just turns away and wanders off to find herself something else to do, no matter if her friends come with her or not.
She doesn’t do well in big groups, either. When too many deer are around her, she always steps back and turns into an outside-looking-in type. She watches, but she barely participates. She always says she prefers being alone, but in reality, she has a deep urge to be loved and appreciated.
She hates being in small or crowded spaces, and always panics in this moments because she fears she will never get out. (In other words: she has a slight claustrophobia.) She then quickly runs away until there is much room around her.
Gwen hates little fawns and can’t imagine having offspring herself.
Likes:
Jerking around with her friends, having room for herself (sometimes), speed, being lazy (sometimes) , not worrying at all (at all!), being loves, being praised, being appreciated, talking about things she has experienced, talking in general, annoying others – especially the porcupine, misunderstanding things on purpose – just for the fun of it, being sarcastic, being a little mean – occasionally, grazing, wild berries, being up at night, being bigger than all the others (now that she’s an adult), running
Dislikes:
Being called her real name, Arrogant deer, being left behind, being forgotten, feeling lonely, being forced to do something, her peace being disturbed, being betrayed, being overly serious, being judged by her appearance, being bigger than the others (as a fawn), keeping still, doing nothing, large groups, that others used to bully her, bullying in general, not getting her will, being annoyed, and most of all, small fawns
Theme songs:
Nickelback - Lullaby
Voice:
Somewhat like Michelle Branch, just deeper
History:
Gwen was born born at the Shakaree Red Deer farm in Maine, a farm whose aim was to breed strong-antlered bulls. The area was large, and the deer were treated quite well. Although the fawns were bottle-fed and never really got to meet their mothers, most of them were happy, for when they were old enough, they were allowed to live on a field, which was, of course, fenced.
But Gwen wasn’t happy. Red deer were already quite big, but she was even bigger than an average fawn of her age. But despite that, she had a soft herd and never really defended herself when the other fawns made fun of her. It made her sad, but she didn’t know how to tell them to stop.
What made the situation even worse was that she enjoyed imitating humans, which made the other fawn’s behavior even worse. She didn’t understand why they did that, but luckily, she had her friend Mel who just told her to turn away and ignore them.
Gwen was already a few months old when during a storm one night, a part of the fence was damaged, but not obviously enough so the humans would notice it. But Gwen did when she was trying to get up on her hind legs and the fence suddenly gave in. Since she was curious, she hopped over the lower part of the fence after calling her friend.
The two little does wanted to explore and somehow, they managed to sneak away mainly unnoticed, and when the humans noticed they were missing, they already were too far away.
They actually had intended to return, but as young animals are, they didn’t remember their way and got lost. It was very scary, and they aimlessly walked for months, not knowing where to go. And it got even worse when the friends were separated when they stumbled right into a hunt. In their panic, they lost each other, although they weren’t really an aim for the hunters.
Gwen had never been that frightened before in her entire life. She continued walking around a long time, for almost a year. She was always trying to find a herd, but although she sometimes joined a group of deer, it did never last. Something always caused her to be chased off, and she easily gave in. It was the worst time of her life, she was harassed a lot because of her size, and the deer called her names, tipped her and talked about her behind her back. It made the doe become suspicious and paranoid, because everywhere she went, she expected the deer to plan something against her or play tricks on her.
She hoped it would go away, but it didn’t.
She never really stayed in one place, until one time, she was forced to. She hurt her leg when she was attacked by hounds, and until it was healed, she had to stay in the forest she was currently in.
Coincidentally, it was the Great Prince’s forest. And there, she experienced what she thought of as an miracle.
She met her friend Mel again, who had also ended up in this forest, just earlier and on a different path. And she introduced her to another friend, a small White-tailed doe named Blanca.
Blanca was a friendly doe, and didn’t care that Gwen and Mel were different than she was. She liked the big red does. And Gwen was overjoyed to see Mel again.
With her friends by her side, Gwen gathered the strength and courage to fight the harassing of the other deer, and eventually, she learned to ignore them. She even managed to make some other friends, even though she still was suspicious and suspected them to talk bad about her behind her back or just lurking her into a trap.
She also grew her moody manner and started to be easily irrigated, especially with young fawns. She vowed to herself that she would never have own young.
They decided to stay in the forest, although it was unlikely that Mel and Gwen would ever have mates, since neither they could breed with the White-tailed bucks, nor did they have any interest in the tall does. But both of them didn’t mind.
Friends, fun and a nice place to live – that was everything Gwen needed. And she had lived her life in Bambi’s forest like this ever since.
RTB:
Lives in Bambi’s forest, is friends with Bambi
(Note: First of all, thanks to MW Roach for helping me find the information about the deer farm!
Then the stuff about the fursona: Yes, this is my personality. I didn’t hold back anything. Duh. The story part was of course altered so it would fit a deer. But there are parallels to my life. If you have questions, feel free to ask.
And the design: The only color that really fits is the one of the eyes. I am not a red head, but this is a red deer, after all. I wanted to make the hair tuft blond, like my hair is, but it looked bad. What I kept from myself is the hair which wonderfully hangs in my face when it’s wet, the scars I got from an argument with my sister, and the cologne cathedral shaped marking is there because I live near cologne. ^^
If there are any other questions, just ask.
