Watch the Sky

Watch the Sky

''It's a deep sea on which I'm floating. Still I sink to think that I must...
Crawl, there's things that aren't worth giving up I know.
When you can't bear to carry me I'll fight.
You live the life you're given with the storms outside some days all I do is watch the sky,
Today was a good day, today was a good day.''

So, I think I'm gonna go with the new design for Stark. I'll update his page and sheet later I suppose.
This background was frustrating to edit at first on Paint.NET, but I think it turned out okayish. I kinda wish I had CS5 on my laptop instead of my desktop, especially for this pic. It would've made the edits on the background easier.

Background from Bambi.
Original artwork is Univrtsal's.
Stark is mine.

Yea I was nervous too at first xD but I find if you just go for it, it's easier to fix it from there.

Thanks Cat, that's actually really helpful advice. I've always been iffy about what colors to use for shading. I'll try it when I get the chance ^^

Wolflover, when you say lighting affects, are you talking about the ones on Gimp?

Ditto. What they said. Excellent idea in this. It just needs what they said...

I agree with what Cat said, shading would be a good idea. Try adding lighting effects. I've started to use that sometimes when blending characters into backgrounds. It works really well =)

It's very pretty and you used the backgrounds well. However, this could be so much more amazing if Stark "fit" into the background (right now it just looked like you drew him and pasted him onto the background) What I mean by that is shading him certain colors to have him match the background. Light from the moon will be reflecting onto each part of him that's facing it. The rest of him should be shaded blue/greys, since the rocks are that color and it'll effect how he looks. A more exaggerated example would be like that scene with Aleu in the cave. Her fur changed colors along with the cave (is it possible and stupid? yes, but the shade change is the /baaaasic/ idea).
